The GUM Department Store in Moscow is not really a store, rather it is a series of stores. It is similar to what in the U.S. we would call an UPSCALE MALL.

We visited it while on our Russian tour last October. The GUM is situated in Red Square.

  3. I have the same question as Cliff does...can you buy gum there? No, I'm not related to him, we just think alike.

  4. One of you guys (not JEL) is a poor thing, thinking like that other poor thing.

Yes, you can buy gum at the candy stores or (I think)the delis and refreshment stands.

"Look for Russia's famous confection, Krasny Oktyobr (Red October) Chocolates, at refreshment stands and Russian shops throughout GUM. Be prepared for a taste unlike American, French or English chocolates, as Red October chocolate is usually lighter in weight, darker in color and more bittersweet in taste than Western fare."

We ate our last piece of Russian chocolate a couple of month ago, it was sooooo good.

  11. Hi again Jim ~~ Thanks for your comments. Glad you liked the jokes, although you disagree on the number of words that men and women speak.
It sounds like a heck of a lot and they must talk all day and half the night. The point was, that men don't listen!!! Take care, and LISTEN!!!
    Kind regards, Merle.
