What's going on here? Hint: "They will go to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, But they will not find it."

"It was little and red" (Note 2)

"Mine might be in there too"

"I don't have my name in mine"

"I hope someone is putting it to good use"

What have you said?

Notes:
1. "People will stagger from sea to sea And from the north even to the east; They will go to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, But they will not find it."
Amos 8:12
2. What is black and white and red all over?

Again, have you said words similar to what these above were saying?

What were they?

  1. I've gone to and fro many a time and not been able to find what I sought.
I like that phrase "to and fro."
I also like the phrase "Howdy, Jim!"

  2. Hi Jim, that is a nice "office" closet you have there. Were the ladies looking for their scriptures? I have no idea what is black and white and red all over, I think my brain is too tired to think clearly right now.

  4. Were they looking for a certain Bible?

I've always heard black and white and red all over is the newspaper. Should be the Bible!!

To and fro...I look to and fro for things I misplace sometimes!

  5. Jim ~ At forst I thought this was a picture of Mrs. LZ and my MIL going to and fro through my office throwing out all my old photo albums. I sure wish everything was digital, but I still like looking at the albums! ~ jb///

  6. Well, you know me. I'm always going to and fro for some reason. That closet looks like storage at the church. Did the ladies find their Bible?

  9. These three had all lost their Bibles. Our Minister of Administration (lady on the right) opened the lost Bible closet for them to look.

    None of theirs were found.

At San Jacinto College, every summer we auctioned off all the lost items not claimed.
I found a $20 bill once, no one claimed it so it was mine in the summer. This was because I had asked for it when bringing it in.

Legally, if the finder when turning the the lost item in requests, it can be his if the owner doesn't show up. There are a few loop holes around this rule.

Basically it is 'finders keepers, losers weepers' unless we can identify the loser. The loser has absolute right to the property.

The riddle answer: a newspaper (I mispelled read. This is an old grade school riddle, at least in Nebraska.
