Today is National Donut Day -- The Jim Bunch Eats
Today, June 5, 2009, is National Donut Day (link). Donuts are free at Dunkin' Donuts (have to buy a drink) and Crispy Creme (all outlets in Houston have closed).
Then in this picture, why am I eating pizza? There are two reasons:
1. I have not eaten any donuts now for two and a half years. They are not on my food plan. I do eat pig in a blankets, kalachies, cake, pie, ice cream, and the like.
But not donuts. Donuts are too tempting, and so easy just grab one. They are everywhere, even in our church lobby on Sunday mornings;
2. Because we are eating at the La Maniguette Bar, Pizzeria, and Restaurant in Mirepoix France (link)(link#2). Mirepoix was on our way to Andorra after leaving the Carcassonne area of France. The pizza seemed best for me.
Did you notice the middle of my pizza? This pizza is very Italian with the egg tossed in there and then cooked (not hard enough for my egg taste preference) along with the pizza. We had one of these in Italy way back when. Then it was a real big surprise for us.
Hi Jim ~~ I have never heard of
ReplyDeletedonut day. They tend to give me
indigestion, so I don't buy them now.
John asked for some jugs of water
and it was nice to have the bottles.
"My fave was the man gasping in bed
and the woman didn't hold the pillow
down long enough." I thought you fellows might not like that one.
Take care, Regards, Merle.
hear it on the new this morning,
ReplyDeletehomemade donuts are the best, got some good memories making them when I was a child. :)
have a good weekend
Really, my time at Emory was three years of donut day. I'm caught up.
ReplyDeleteThey aren't on my food plan either. Drat.
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific day and weekend. Big hug. :)
I didn't know it was donut day? Maybe it's donut day in Texas only...? All Crisy Cremes in Texas have closed? CCs are no longer available in any of the outlets around me. What happened to them? I thought they were the best! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't eat donuts either. I love a lot of them (some are disgusting), but I just stay away from them.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would like egg on my pizza either. Gives me shivers just thinking about it.
So yummy =)
ReplyDeleteGday Jim, Like Merle ive never heard of Donut day.But that doesnt worry me as I dont eat donuts either. But the Jim bunch eats Pizza, ill join you for lunch.we had a pizza in Italy also was rather delish.
ReplyDeleteJim, I don't eat donuts much any more either....just too much sugar. I do like pizza but I get very sleepy afterward from too many carbs.
ReplyDeleteHi again Jim ~~ I have decided that I need no longer worry about the Jim bunch starving to death. I didn't like the egg in the pizza either. or at least cooked longer. They make min muffins where I shop and I often get a packet as young people like them. I have one or two.
ReplyDeleteI managed to stay awake for the last post and hope to post tomorrow.
Glad you liked "and that's how the fight started" jokes. I like the
Millionaire quiz also, test out my brain !! Don't try the"phone a friend " and then blame it on me
and my post. Take care Jim and enjoy your life. Cheers, Merle.
I noticed the pizza right away because I had a similar experience.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was living in France, I read on the menu that they offered pizza with an egg on it. I asked in French if it was chopped (or sliced). The answer? "Oui." Okay, so I went for it expecting a hard-boiled egg sprinkled on the pizza,
What I got is exactly what your picture shows. I think the egg on mine may have actually been cooked less. It was soupy.
I guess my French wasn't as good as I thought it was.
I'm sad that I missed this Doughnut Holiday ... but delighted YOU took advantage of it and celebrated big time.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
