(this one is for last week but Janet didn't have one for today.
I don't know the official name of this thing. The Honolulu Community Concert Band director calls it "the clapper". It is two pieces of wood hinged together. The boards are opened and then snapped closed and that is what makes the sound of the cracking whip in, "Sleigh Ride".
