2010 Census — a stupid question? — MidWeek Blues —

.

3. Is this house, apartment, or mobile home —
Mark 'X' ONE box (here a line)
___ Owned by you or someone in this household with a mortgage or loan? Include home equity loans.
___ Owned by you or someone in this household free and clear (without a mortgage or loan)?
___ Rented?
___ Occupied without payment of rent?

Okay, it isn't stupid but of what value can it possibly be to the U.S. government?

I was tempted to not answer but decided they just might want $5000 from in (possible fine for not answering the question). Or I could mark a wrong answer. I wasn't going for an 'A' grade anyway. Nothing I have found tells about telling a lie on this form.

Remember I say lying is not a sin unless it brings harm to someone or is malicious.

The U.S. Bureau of Census, FAQs Site (
link), does state that there is a $5000 penalty for not answering any numbered question on the form.

Oh yes, there isn't a penalty for being late. I had lost my form but they mailed me another.

Thank you Big Brother, for being so kind.

Thank you God, that my home (not necessarily the one pictured above) isn't being forclosed upon.

  1. Big brother is right. They are way too much up in our business.

    Have a terrific day. :)

  2. Oops...suddenly feeling blue as I think I intentionally 'forgot' to answer certain questions. Oh dear, I hope I don't get fined!

Oh, now don't get me started about big government. And I'm already fretting about the fine.

  4. I wonder if you're allowed to send them questions?

  5. The government merely wants to know the financial state of our country. They mean no harm in asking us these financial questions. They know how we feel, because they themselves must fill out this questionnaire. They aren't comfortable, either, answering invasive questions.

Of course, we know that there are twisted people on this earth who do mean harm. From these, we mean to protect ourselves.

Government is not our problem--we welcome government for order and safety and well-keeping. It's twisted government that troubles us.

And that's my sermon for today.

  6. I wonder how many people answer the questions somewhat less than honestly.
