These people were running the April 15, 2012, Paris, France, Marathon.  Here we are at about the halfway point, around mile 15 of the 26 mile race.  We waited here for our Karen to come by and for us to cheer her on.
.
This lady wearing the blue shirt is looking for a friendly face on  the sidelines, I am sure.  We can also be sure that she is more than just a little uncomfortable running with these 'orangey and black dressed people.'

Thematic Photographic:
I call this photo "The Blob."
 .
Welcome to our new Thematic theme, "abstract", where if it's weird and  disconnected from reality, it should be shared to Thematic readers this week.*
.
This particular shot was an interesting one to take.  I was driving down a back street in Milan, Tennessee when this large wet leaf blew onto my.  Like a good Boy Scout, I was ready with my camer.  I am always ready, it's either in my pocket, the door pocket in the car, or on a table within my reach.
But to me, it is more than a leaf.  Like, do you ever look at clouds to find some for, recognizable as a familiar object or person?  If this leaf turned out to be white, it might be "Casper, the Friendly Ghost."  But since it's dark, sinister, and eerie, I call it "The Blob."  I didn't see the movie, I'm not an expert on blobs, you might think differently.
 .
*Week # 200 for the Thematic Photographic.  Congratulations, Carmi.  This is Week # 002 for me.
.
Instructions from Carmi Levi: "Post a blue-themed pic to your blog. Leave a comment here letting folks know where to find it. Visit other Thematic participants. Rinse. Repeat. Enjoy. Click here for more background on Thematic, our weekly photo exploration/sharing thing."

If you want to post a MidWeek Blues picture, go get directions from Rebecca by clicking on the logo picture on the right. She has a Mr. Linky and good directions . Just do what I did. Or do less. All she requires is a PICTURE WITH BLUE, you don't have to write.

  2. 1) The 'blob'! It's amazing that you can see and conceptualize an everyday happening into an art form. Any others would have just started the wiper moving and considered it an irritant! 2) I have great admiration of those who can do marathons. Great write, Jim!

  4. It could also be an umbrella trying to get away.

  6. Thanks for telling me that was a leaf because I don't think I would have figured that out.

What's with the weird outfits those runners are wearing. Weird.

    Have a terrific day. :)

  7. I would have never guessed it was a leaf if you hadn't told us. I thought it was something like oil on the windshield, or maybe a really, really big bird flew over. Great abstract.

  8. The 'orangey and black dressed people' ran to support an association called The children of the moon which concerns kids forced to live their lives in darkness due to a rare genetic disease.
