"Red" — My Alphabe-Thursday (2nd), the letter "R" / Thursday Two Questions —

.
Pictured below on the left is a Red Flag on the green for this hole.  We had to hit over water to the green, about a 115 yard shot.  The Red Stake by the water in the other picture shows the boundary behind which may be counted as a hazard.  Here it would be a water hazard.

(You will probably have to click on some of these pictures to be able to see the Red Items.)
(I took these pictures with my new Sony camera, a last years 2012 DSC WX-50.  I am liking it a lot.  Plus it is another excuse for you to click on the pictures.  Click another time to see how good it really does.)

"R" is for Red.  I played golf with the guys from Mrs. Jim's Sunday school class, ten of them, Tuesday (her class now has over 120 members--counting me but I am on their associate roll**).  It got hot, it reached into the low 80's F after we were finished and were having lunch at the 19th hole.

My playing was so so, not as hot as the weather.  We were playing Best Ball and someplace under a third of my shots and/or puts counted.  There were three of us in our group, one other had three, and the other other group had four.

Our score was a par, as was one of the others. And the foursome had a four over par.y

Anyway I got to thinking about today and what would my red be?  It didn't take long to realize that there were Red Objects on the golf course.  So I will be telling you of my Seeing Red on the golf course.  I would not be losing my temper, but that also would be Seeing Red.

Here is a grouping of Red Azaleas (could they be pink?) in a dry flower bed.  Our Montgomery County is very dry and has declared it to be in a Fire Watch area.  On the right, these Red Flowering Plants get watered by the home owner and are in better shape.

The kids who live here sell the golf balls they find.  The golfers put their purchase money in the Red Bucket.  The Wedgewood Golf Course is on both side of this street.  The home owner pictured at right parks his Red Pickup Truck on his front yard.

These Red Wooden Balls are the front line marker for the women's tee box.  On the right is one of the many Red Brick Homes that have their backyards adjoining the golf course.

The Red Numbers on this sign say that the distance from the ladies' tee box to the hole on the green is 351 yards.  At right is another Red Flag on the 18th green with the players putting in.  Note that two are wearing Red Shirts and that the other fellow has a Red Collar on his Red, white, and blue striped shirt (enlarge/click picture to see the Red Stripe).

Play day is over.  Three Red Shirted Fellows and eight of us others will now go on to Incredible Pizza who is having 'all you can eat' senior lunch for $4.50 plus tax for the 19th hole eating and relaxing,   That four-fifty includes pizza, other entree foods, salad, drinks, and desert.  Alcohol is not served there.

Now for my Thursday Two Questions.

My last post last week was about an "Q" word, Queen

My Two Questions for this week (you can answer just one if you wish):.

1. What Reds might you have found in your fun, work, or other place you frequent?
I loved seeing the things I found on the golf course Red and otherwise.  Carrying a camera helps a person to see things he might not see without one.

2. Tell about an activity that you participate in with other of your friends.
Besides golf, I play table games, Texas 42 Dominoes, Bridge, and Canasta.  I am also in a Bible study at our church in a Sunday school class designed for couples ages 70 and up.  Three of the ladies and a couple of the men have lost their mates.

Bonus Question:

1. What is your favorite "R" word?
.
==>  My Questions here are for Amanda at her Thursday Two Questions blog, Self Sagacity. Please visit her there for her questions and links to other partakers of her fun blogging idea.

** Mrs. Jim's Sunday school class is called the Uplifters Class and on their class roll they have a category they call 'Associate Members.'  Associate members do not attend because they are working in another class and will be counted for attendance on that classes' roll.  I lead (teach??) the lesson every third Sunday in my class, the Hope Class.

  3. That golf course is really pretty. I hope to be seeing red flowers all around very soon but right now the only reds I have seen recently are a couple of cars in our neighborhood. My red earrings I wore a couple of days ago and the red blouse the lady at the bank was wearing.

I am semi retired but hubby still works full time. Between the house, yard and the volunteer work I do that doesn't leave time for much else.

My favorite R word at the moment is Rose! I noticed today that there are very tiny buds on my rose bushes.

  6. Great use of "R" for red, Jim. Golf is so frustrating. It always makes me see red. I'd have to say red sweaters and red roses are two of my favorite red things.

  12. Glad you had fun with your lady and her friends playing golf. I'd like to play sometime.

I love red so I think I have quite a few of them around me. Especially my car :)

I do not really have friends perse, but I hang out with woman/men from our soccer team or women from bible study every now and then.

    Bonus Question:

    1. What is your favorite "R" word?
    Rose. I love the smell.

    Enjoy your weekend Jim!

  13. 80 degrees? Oh how I wish to have that temperature here. I like it warm. I also heard that in golf, you have your days, some pros don't play so well sometimes either. You look very happy in that golf cart there. It looks like loads of fun! The only golf I ever did was at the range, I don't think I can handle the whole game. 1) I like our red Star Rose trees in the front of my house. They are weeping vines too, the prettiest in the summer. So full of flowers that the tree can't handle the blooms.
    2) We do lots of things with our friends, like hiking, sledding, going to the parks, birthday parties for the kids. They are all activities that we can enjoy with our kids.
Thank you for participating in Thursday Two Questions meme. I am glad you're able to join us this week. Have a wonderful weekend.

  14. I love golf! My office is across the street from a golf course and it's all covered in snow now, but when it turns green I turn green with envy of the retired people who play whenever they want. I sometimes see red too when my slice rears its ugly head.

lovely course! I enjoyed the photos...

  17. Nice R post! My neighbor across the street plays / practices golf in his yard and in nice weather I often find myself throwing his golf balls back over there as I find them here and there at my place!

Best Red around is a summer tomato! :)

  18. You have some great red items peppered throughout. I like that Tiger Woods wears a red shirt for luck towards the end of his golf tournaments.

How about redeem as a "r" word. I just glanced up and saw that I wasn't the only one who thought of that. What a wonderful word!!

Your wife's class sounds like a testament to her talent! Hooray for her! And for all her lucky students!

I loved your little 'hints' of red in your pictures!

My favorite R word right now is...
