[Willie Nelson at Farm Aid 2009]
[courtesy of Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia]
"W" is for Willie Nelson. Willie is Mrs. Jim's favorite country-western song writer and singer. A list of his songs is here, but there are so many that I didn't take time to count them.
. .
Happy Birthday to Willie, he will be 80 years old next Tuesday, April 30. He was born in Abbott, Texas, in 1933. We were in high school together in different schools. I asked Mrs. Jim if I were cuter than Willie was as we looked at his high school picture. She said I was always cuter.Mrs. Jim's favorite song of Willie's depends on the season, but tonight when I wrote this it was Crazy. My favorite is To All the Girls I've Loved Before.
Below are five of Mrs. Jim and my favorites, all from YouTube with a search done on "Willie Nelson" (link to the search). I say that but there is not one Willie Nelson song that we do not like.

Oh I love old Willie Nelson. Love him - my favorite is I'm back on the road again - but loved all of them!!!
ReplyDeleteCountry and western is my favorite music.

1. Don't care for country and western music.
ReplyDelete2. Have no opinion one way or other about Willie Nelson.
3. My 'W' word is WINING.
Have a terrific day. ☺
I mean WINNING. Good grief. Time to get off the computer. ☺
ReplyDeleteI love all these songs you posted by Willie. How do I feel about him? Although I'm almost related to him, I've never met him. My husband's aunt is Willie's aunt by marriage. Aunt Mae pretended she didn't like Willie, but she kept every little write up, picture, book, etc. Willie's mom stayed in my home when her brother was ill and in the hospital.
ReplyDeleteI remember hearing songs by Willie when I was a little kid . He is one of my mum's favourite country and western singer. I'm not into country music now. Prefer Korean or JApanese.

Jim, I pretty much like all music except for country and Western though I do like the song "All The girls I've loved before" with Julio. Sheryl Crow is a good singer and songwriter.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry but I have never liked Willie Nelson as a singer but I give him kudos for being his age and still going strong.
Willie Nelson has written and performed some truly amazing songs. Crazy, I would have to say is one of my favorites of his. I like all kinds of music and have to say I wouldn't turn Willie off if he came over the airwaves!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite W word is 'watermelon'.
Me too, have never really appreciated Willie Nelson either! (sigh!)
ReplyDeletebtw Cat on a Hot Tin Roof & Giant - over at my place - were suggested as *better* than the actual Oscar winners that year!
Have a good weekend, Jim!
I've always liked Willie Nelson and think he's super cool for doing exactly what he wants to do, no matter what anybody thinks!! (and I like his braids too -- hehe) You should post his high school picture!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not so wild about country music, but I do like Willie, and Alan Jackson!
I am not really into country music but, I've heard some of his songs-pretty cool. You are definitely cuter, Jim! ;)

ReplyDeleteBrilliant posts
I like Country Music and I love Willie! Cute story, a dear older lady I knew loved Willie's music until she saw a picture of Willie! She decided he was a little too weird for her to be a fan...
ReplyDeleteWillie isn't one of my favorites. Does anyone remember Ricky Nelson? No relation to Willie. My favorite "W" words are "wisdom" and "wine". Waylan Jennings is one of my fav Western singer-songwriters.
ReplyDelete1. What is your liking of country-western songs and singing? I know of Willy Nelson from all the ads. I don't listen to country music, but like some songs. Songs that were sung by Carrie Underwood are as country as I can handle. 2. How do you feel about Willie Nelson? I am not sure. He is talented in his own ways, he has the charm and the attraction that drew people in. He is more famous than me, so that is all that matters, he went down in history...while no one would ever know I existed. hehe.
ReplyDeleteBTW- thanks for your detailed comment on my dream post. I will have to go over it and send you a note afterwards.
Quite a character, that Willie!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the pic of Willie at first I thought it was you and that life had been treating you pretty poorly. I do love Willie. He has the most perfect pitch of any singer I've heard. I've got all of his music. He's kind of like milk. He goes well with almost everybody but that's because of his abilities.
ReplyDeleteWe like to listen to country-western on radio, Dr Jim :) Willie Nelson is a very gifted singer. Wonderful is my favourite "W" word.
