Do you remember your grandkid's art work? You may have some salted away for future admiration. Chances are you won't look at it very much.
Then a while later, when your kids or spouse is going through the things you could not longer take with you, most all of it will get trashed.
Do you remember your first grade art? My mom saved mine, it was a boy with a horse, both were stick figures. I never graduated from the stick people drawing stage. Even after a few 'art' classes.

My first stick man looked very similar to this one. We still have the boy and horse but I have no idea where it might be. Lost?
Did you ever read the "Stick Man" book? Or see the play? (link)
I don't know if it played in the U.S. or not. It was playing in London but we didn't see it. I read the book.

Hello, your granddaughter's cat is wonderful. I do not remember my first grade art but we did keep my son's artwork. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThis cat picture made me smile!! Good art!!
ReplyDeleteI have stuff from the grand-babies, but my sons stuff is lost as well. I don't remember throwing it away, but I've no idea where those drawing are.
ReplyDeleteI've not seen or read the Stick Man.
Have a fabulous day. ☺
Great post ~ Stick Man sounds like a fun book ~ love children's art and would love to write a children's book and get published ~ dreaming ^_^
ReplyDeleteHappy Week to you ~ ^_^
Hi, Jim, I like your granddaughter's cat drawing. The cat has personality with that pretty flower bow. I actually found my first grade photo of cows floating in the air last month. Maybe I'll share it on next week's Warm Heart Wednesday.

Hi Jim
ReplyDeleteI did save a few pieces of art from my children to give to them as adults. Now I ahve 4 grandchildren and a few are old enough to draw some surprises for me now and then that I treasure. Your granddaughter's cat drawing is very good!
You asked in your comment on my blog which area of Italy my husband is from. He is from Calabria--the very bottom of the mainland. His town was near the Ionian Sea.
I think your granddaughter is quite an artist! I have folders up on the top shelf of my closet for each of my kids...one for every grade. I also had a box full of things they made over the years - Christmas presents, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc., but that box was lost in a move. It was totally worthless to anyone but me, but never showed up and was gone forever.
ReplyDeleteI need to read the Stick Man book! I never graduated beyond those stick figures either but sure love the talented folks who are artsy! I am so happy I finally made it over to visit everyone. We have been under the weather with crummy head colds and feeling not much better after 10 days. Maybe a nice snowstorm will kill all the germs. We have had 50-60 and a near 70 temp this week. Love that cat art. She is quite a lil artist. I still have some pieces of our children's art work and some of it is framed. It is some of my favorite pieces. Have a great weekend with Mrs. Jim! Thanks for sharing. Hugs to you both, Anne
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that you have some first grade pictures you drew.
I don't think my mom saved anything we made.
That book sounds really charming, Jim.
Just like your post.
Thank you for warming my heart for week 15.
XOXOXOXO
