1. Starts with B:
- (a) "B" is for Breakfast. This was most day's breakfast on our recent 31-day cruise from L.A, California, down around South America, and back up to Rio de Janiero, Brazil. Most days we ate from the cafeteria as it stayed open later in the day. (After Ten.)
No, I did not gain weight. I didn't lose any either.

- Left plate: Bacon, Canadian bacon, corned beef hash, a piece of fish, two slices of stollen under the Canadian bacon, prunes, pears, appricots, a small pancake, cantaloupe, syrup and catsup;
- Smaller plate on right: two-egg omlet (ham, white and yellow cheese, and spinach) and English sausage. Plus coffee and apple juice not shown.
- (b) "B" is Before: This is one of my grandmother's dining room chairs, one of a set of six. This one will be re-caned and refurbished. If it suits us, the other five will follow. I will show an after picture when David finishes.
2. Week's Favorite:
Another classic car calendar from my 2017 "Jim's Best Hardware Store" classic truck calendar.
It is a 1929 Graham Stakebed Truck. I like red trucks, this one is an eye catcher.

3. Creature: Our Pool Swan has bitten the dust.
During our last cool and windy spell it blew out and landed in a rose bush.
It belongs to our daughter and she said to get rid of it. But I like it swimming around when I glance out a back window. So I will patch it with a bicycle tire patch, a red one if I can find ones that color.

A few South American Critters:

That looks like a very tasty breakfast, except for the ketchup (catsup), because I don't know what it belongs with on that plate. The only thing I ever put ketchup on is a hamburger, which I don't often eat! I love bacon, but not with ketchup, and I really hope you don't put it on your fruit...that would be a bit icky! The omelette and sausage look great too! Yum! Your swan is very cute and I don't blame you for wanting to fix it - I would do the same!
ReplyDeleteThat's some breakfast, count me in! I got a great antique truck calendar from one of my venders. I'm sure that the world in filled with red bicycle tire patches. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThat was a nice big breakfast, Papa Bear would have loved it! I think the chair will be very pretty when it's been re-caned. I love to see old things made new and put in use again. I loved your inflatable swan, so I am glad you are going to try to heal his injuries so he can sail the pool again! A rose bush would not be a fun landing for inflatables or people! Penquins always appear so animated with their characteristic walk. Were they noisy? What did you enjoy most while on the cruise?
ReplyDeleteI love the calendar with a vintage car on that and that breakfast is to die for. I certainly would of had somE of the things on the plate but not every day for 31 days! The poor swan. I do hope you have a lovely weekend ahead
ReplyDeleteThanks for the clarification on the tomato condiment Jim! I didn't realize that the omelette and sausage were all part of the same breakfast, and I could imagine that one would use it on those. Wow, that would keep me going all day! Now I'm hungry!
ReplyDeleteThose look like serious breakfasts - although in all my years, I've never had fish for breakfast. I was unaware that Graham made trucks, I thought their 1938-39 'Sharknose' cars we re awesome. Penguins are so cool and stylish!
ReplyDeleteI vote in favor of the swan and chairs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog. Poor swan, I would keep it also, even patched up.
ReplyDeleteI am off to read about your cruise as I am interested in finding some new ones.
These breakfast ! I could never eat so much in the morning, I would eat it for lunch ! The old chair is practical in summer has already a ventilation hole !
ReplyDeleteIt certainly looks like you were fed well on the cruise. I can hardly wait to see the finished chair. What a shame about your swan. Hope you can get it fixed. Love all those creatures from the cruise. Thanks so much for joining Friday's Hunt. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThe best kind of vacation is when I don't gain any weight. I don't know if I could do 31 days on a boat. But, maybe. A cruise around South America sounds fun. I've always been intrigued about going around the tip of South America. My one and only pick-up truck was a red Mazda, which I bought because I decided I didn't have to wait to meet a guy with a truck. Lol. Maybe I'll write a post about that one day.
ReplyDeleteOh our middle daughter would love those penguins! She spends a lot of time with them at the Zoo and she is a growing up gal! We went to the zoo this past weekend for free day. Glad we got there early. The parking lot fills up quickly. I had Jenny Matlock on my mind. sure do miss her. Sending her a Valentine card soon. I try to keep in touch. Have a good day with Mrs. Jim.
