The 32nd issue of Weekend Roundup for this year... (THE SIXTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)
- the Letter "F" Prompts are:
(A) Starts with the Letter "F"; (B) A Favorite; (C) "F" for "Full" (Tom's choice); and (D) Reflections.
(A) Starts with the Letter "F":
(1) Fruit starts with the letter "F". This is a small Fruit plate/basket that KP served me at the Children's Museum Café (see below, Favorite).
You are seeing two strawberries, a piece of French style Cherry Pie, and a slice of Watermelon.
(2) Figs also start with the letter "F". I like Figs raw but I like them better as a Fig Preserve that I can spread onto bakery or bread items.
In the picture you are seeing our daughter's appetizers of the 'perfect figs' from Central Market. She slipped them and put them on a goat cheese bed atop thin slices German rye bread. The final touch was pour of Bonne Mamam Honey. Really good, I almost overdosed.
I found out forty years ago that I DO NOT have a green thumb. I planted two Fig trees, the first the Southwestern Bell installer ran over it with his tractor digger and broke it to the ground. The second little tree died of natural or unnatural causes, we did not do an autopsy.
(B) A Favorite: Yesterday we visited the Houston Children's Museum branch at Sugar Land, Texas. KP was hosting, Mrs. Jim had a Taco but she had brought in her own Diet Coke from MacDonald's where we had a larger lunch (an Egg McMuffin sandwich for each).
KP is our youngest grandchild. This is her Favorite children's museum, even over the larger Houston Children's Museum in the Museum District of Houston. Although smaller, this one is less crowded also.
(C) "F" for "Full" (Tom's choice): I was an engineer with Ford Aerospace working at NASA Houston with other engineers for 17 years.
The engineer joke says "The difference between Cowboys and Engineers is where to find the manure on their boots. The cowboys have manure on the outside, the engineers' boots are Full of it on the inside."
Accountants and lawyers jokes are even more stupid.
(D) Reflections: In the picture you are seeing a Reflection of a pretty street in Bellaire, Texas. The business had been a barber shop and hair styling salon. The note in the window says they will not be open for business until further notice.

My Two Questions for this week (you can answer just one if you wish):
1. Do your grandchildren (children if you are young enough to have some smaller ones or can still remember that) like going to Museums? My two oldest granddaughters went to Europe with us when each of them was sixteen. Both very quickly got tired of all the Museums we would visit .
2. What is your taste preference towards Figs? At times they are my favorite fruit.
Bonus Questions:
1. What is your favorite "F" word? (Careful, no vulgarities here please.)
2. Does your profession have a Favorite joke you would like to tell?

1. My children and grandchildren get bored in museums. It's the way of youth.
ReplyDelete2. I'll pass on figs. I love pineapple the very best.
3. Freedom is my favorite F word.
4. A police officer in a small town stopped a motorist who was speeding down Main Street.
"But officer," the man said, "I can explain."
"Just be quiet!!!" snapped the officer. "...or I'm going to let you cool off in jail until the chief gets back."
"But officer, I just wanted to say...."
"And I said KEEP QUIET! Now you're going to jail!"
A few hours later, the officer checked up on his prisoner and said, "Lucky for you that the chief's at his daughter's wedding. He'll be in a good mood when he gets back."
"Don't count on it," said the man in the cell. "I'm the groom!"
Have a fabulous day and weekend, Jim. ♪♫♪♫
Depending on the type of museum they did OK but would not stay as long as adult. I love all fruit. FAITH is my favourite F word and I cannot tell joked but I did enjoy the one above I hope you will have a very good weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe don't go to museums much anymore to be honest with you - guess fruit is my favorite F word! Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteNice reflection!
ReplyDelete...summer sure is 'F'ruit time and here I thought that you would use 'F'ennel. 'F'ruit is a much better choice! 'F'igs are a thing that ever appealed to me. I visit a lot museums and the successful ones have lots of hands on activities for kids. Thanks Jim for stopping by, where is your manure? I was in the nursery business for 50 years and sold lots of aged horse manure for compost. That made me an entrepremanure.
ReplyDeletegreat post!
ReplyDeleteHehe! I like figs too and have often thought to plant a figtree, but it's maybe to cold here.
ReplyDeleteEuropea is full of museums, we have already five here in our very little town...
Have a great weekend
My granddaughter loves museums, but the boys are not impressed. They like more action. I don't think I've ever eaten a fig. My favorite F word is Fun. I'm not a good joke teller. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you don't have a "green thumb" then who planted the flowers in your profile photo--or were you away from home seeking solace for your the dashed hopes? Have you considered trying again but with other plants? I would suggest kudzu as one possibility, but you might also consider some nice green-briers. The latter has the added advantage of tasty new stems, and I do mean NEW stems.
ReplyDeleteHi JIm, it has been too long since I came to visit. I lost track of you. I am tech clueless and need to find a way to update all the blogs I had followed. Ones that no longer exist still show up on my feed. Our kids use to love the Children's Museum and the craft time at the Denver Museum of Art when they were small. At the Titanic exhibit once year too many people brought young children and it was chaos. I think some places or exhibits are enjoyable for little ones because there is too much to get into. Especially that Titanic exhibit with memories from the bottom of the ocean over 100 years plus and that is just my personal take on it all. It is good to see you and yours here. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe ate fig Newton's as kids. Otherwise I have not had them a lot.
