(A) Starts with the Letter "I": My "I" is for Insect.  I am partial to Bees and Butterflies, butterflies are pretty while bees work to make us honey.  Both are pollinators, Monarch Butterflies crave Milkweed plants. And both are diminishing rather rapidly in numbers.  Our Sierra Society had this sticker on their web site for the taking.

This little bug on my finger found me in our backyard, it had landed in the pool.  Flying ants come seeking a home and to get a drink.

Not all insects are likeable, really some are downright pesky towards us.  Some bite us folk, some spread germs to make us sick, and others damage our crops and flowers.

My Father's Day present from younger Daughter and youngest Granddaughter was four cans of flying insect spray,  a joke gift as I once said when my last can was being used on a wasp was, "For Father's Day I would like to have four cans of flying insect spray."

(B) "Intricate" (Tom's Choice):  This was a very Intricate Rescue Transaction of a small toad or frog marooned in our swimming pool, resting on the regulator device in the hose network for our bottom skimmer machine.

Still alive, we had to pull the hose towards us so that the 'frog' could be reached.  Then with a stick we knocked him off gently into a can which we then emptied onto the backyard grass.  After it landed it promptly scampered away.

Yes, frogs are green and come from tadpoles but toads are brownish-gray and I don't think they come from tadpoles.  Most trapped in the pool filters are the young rabbits who haven't yet learned they can drink the water but can't get back out of the pool.

(C) A Favorite:  A few weeks back I had promised to show the Coke Floats that I had forgotten to take a picture of before we ate them.

There were hardly any calorie's because the ingredients were on the "Lite side".  Our drink was a Diet Coke of which we used one half each.  The ice cream was two dips of Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Lite.

Blue Bell Light Homemade Vanilla is also our favorite Ice Cream varieties.  Only problem is that the Blue Bell had discontinued it's Lite creams for the duration.  We hope that they will resume making it when the COVID-19 epidemic is over.  This was our last carton from our horde.

(D) Reflections:  I may have posted this before.  If you've seen it I am sorry.  I might fix it.  The picture is of a part of our backyard through the back door full length window.
The Reflection is of me, a selfie that wasn't in my plan.

Bonus Questions:

What is your favorite ice cream treat?  Mine is Vanilla ice cream with a still warm piece of most any fruit pie.  Mince Meat please not.

Tell about one of your experiences with wild life.  In our first home, two years after the beginning of our 47 year marriage, we had Mama Rockie Racoon trying to live in our attic.

We had to get her out of there before she had babies.  Another Intricate Rescue, we waited for her out time for eating and doing what ladies do when they go to town.  Then I nailed boards over the hole she had made in the wooden shingles so she wouldn't come back to her nest.

Next was to place the wire trap we bought from the Feed Store baited with tasty goodies.  That probably was warmed, so it would smell good, cat food.  The next morning there she was inside the trap, and mad because she could not get out.

I carefully lowered her from the roof with a long rope and then loaded her in the back of the pickup truck, carefully because her long legged paws were trying to scratch me.  We took her to a wild life preserve farm and Mrs. Jim opened the trap's door after I had put it on the ground.  She skittled away fast, we think to get a new home.

With a different mother, this happened each fall until we had a new asphalt shingle roof installed.  Those old weather beaten shingle pulled down and out as the racoons had learned.

  1. What is your favorite ice cream treat? Oh ice cream is a huge vice of mine. I don't have it very often, but I love almost any flavor of ice cream. I don't think I have a favorite. Just a large bowl of ice cream will do it for me.

Tell about one of your experiences with wild life. We had deer in my youth. They could be seen at dawn and sunset almost every single day. I loved seeing them.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Jim and Mrs. Jim. 😎

  3. That was a good take on the word "Intricate" Jim. Ice cream - Mint chocolate but I do not have ice cream very often. Being able to put my hand into a wild Kangaroo's pouch and then holding her baby, that was special. With being away a lot at my old caravan with no internet, I must have got my scheduling of posts wrong and have missed out last week and i am just home and was amazed to see the letter this week was "I"!! Well I better get on tack next week again. Have a great weekend and week ahead.
