Letter "F" -- -- Weekend Roundup and Street/Reflections

THE SIXTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES - The Letter "F" Prompts are: (A) Starts with the Letter "F"; (B) "Flag" (Tom's Choice); (C) A Favorite; (D) Street/Reflections; and (E) A Lagniappe.

 (A) Starts with the Letter "F":  Fast begins with the letter "F".  Fast car, a Dodge Challenger Charger lead authorities on a high-speed chase on I-10 in Houston, but gets nailed by Houston Police

[An aside, what is the fastest you've ever driven?  150+ mph, 240+ kmph, in a rented Audi driving on the German Audubon, for me.  I seldom tell my top for US highways.]

(B) "
Flag" (Tom's Choice):   These Flag photos were taken on May 30, the original Memorial Day.  We try to fly it on patriotic days when we can.  It is just off the front porch out in front of the dining room window.

The dark area under the eave above the flag is a bird's nest, we think it was a dove who hatched babies and then soon departed with her family.

(C) A Favorite:  This is our new Canna Lily Flowering plant.  It is very disappointed because the rabbits ate all its new leaves.  It should look like these to the right, growing in front of our church.

(D)
Street/Reflections:    The Reflection of back yard and neighbors' structures behind me presented in the window.  This other Flower today is a Plumeria that was given to Mrs. Jim a couple of years ago.  At first it was just a stick, a cutting about ten inches long.

[click that picture for larger still -- works for most]

(E.1) A Lagniappe:   Fred, this tropical weather activity if it gets larger and stronger and then officially becomes a tropical storm it will likely be named Fred, the sixth named Atlantic storm of the year.

(E.3) A Final, another Lagniappe:  Is this pretty Flower edible?  It was on my plate with pork chops and mashed potatoes.  I was afraid of making a scene trying it at the restaurant, I did ask the others there and all I got was smiles and shrugs.  Then I was holding it by a green matchstick sized stem that has not survived.

  1. ...I don't drive as FAST as I did when I was younger!
...attaching a FLAG to your masonry house would be difficult.
...I have a FEW rabbits that I would love send your way.
...plumeria when they are young look like sticks.
...some flowers are edible, but this orchid was just for decoration.
Thanks Jim for joining the party.

  3. Great post and photos Jim and the orchid is probably the most impressive flower on your plate! You can eat this also. But the taste is fairly neutral. Orchids are a tasty treat when dipped in melted chocolate. Wish you pleasant days.

  4. Jim A pretty Orchid. The blooms of all orchids are considered safe for consumption, but some species can irritate the stomach. The vanilla bean or pod is considered the world's only edible fruit-bearing orchid. The genus Dendrobia is also commonly used as a food ingredient and garnish. Sorry the rabbits are eating the leaves of that plant Jim. I arm/shoulder is VERY slow and could take as long as 1-3 years!!! I hope not. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and week ahead and stya safe

  6. Hi Jim,
Beautiful flowers, all of them. I love the USA flag, it's beautiful. I am not a fast driver, it's almost always the speed limit for me. I've never been one to drive fast and don't like riding with those that do. Makes me nervous. Have a good week!
