Yesterday: People were getting tired of my little red truck picture
Picture of the day: Katrin's clip by Mrs. Jim. The last time (Sunday, October 5) we saw Katrin she was sitting on the hair clipper station between clipper or scissor cuts by Mrs. Jim
Please remember this is Mrs. Jim's first cutting attempt so she didn't want to cut very short. The groomers cut her much shorter but their clipping had to last five or six weeks. Mrs. Jim will do it again in a couple or three weeks.

We call these things Horse Apples but their proper name is Osage Oranges. They grow on a lot of native trees around here and are generally called a nuisance.
The fruit can be used as insect repellent but it is hard to get into a spray bottle.
Left [large picture] [super sized] -- Here is the harvester man with his shovel. These Osage Oranges will end up in his little John Deere Gator truck to be hauled away.
Middle [large picture] [super sized] -- Do you suppose he will bring his shovel over here with these that have strayed from the tree or will he toss them back?
Right [large picture] [super sized] -- How far is he from the tree and his Gator?

Many of the pear trees are in bloom here right now. This is one of ours in the front yard.
I blame it on shock by Hurricane Ike, their system is messed up and they think they have to make blooms so late in the year.
Political speak: (source, Maureen Dowd, NY Times, October 7, 2008)
From an executive office seeking politician's lips: [I dare you to guess who voiced this]
XXX finally took questions on Tuesday from (possessive personal pronoun) traveling press corps on (possessive personal pronoun) campaign plane. Asked if (person) thought YYY was dishonest, XXX meandered:
“I’m not saying (personal pronoun)'s dishonest, but in terms of judgment, in terms of being able to answer a question forthrightly, it has two different parts to this. The judgment and the truthfulness and just being able to answer very candidly a simple question about when did you know (personal pronoun), how did you know (personal pronoun), is there still — has there been an association continued since ’02 or ’05, I know I’ve read a couple different stories. I think it’s relevant.”
Cartoons for Today:
Word of the Day: HEAVEN
No, I'm not [deleted]."
I love the Urban Dictionary best to explain the word of the day! I am just wondering, "what you are not [deleted]"...! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Osage Oranges looked for me like lemons on the first sight. Are they eatable?
Katrin's clip looks nice! :-)
Gday Jim, Katrin's looks lovely with her clip. I wouldnt attempt to clip penny as she would have to go the groomers after i finished to fix my mistakes...
ReplyDeleteJim, looks like Mrs. Jim got carried away with Katrin.....lol
ReplyDeleteThose Osage Oranges look like tennis balls......Hummmmm, tennis balls on a golf course. I wonder if you can eat them.
Heaven - Home of the living God, a place of rest to live out your eternity.
I thought the oranges looked like tennis balls too.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn wants one of those pickups also.
A fellow in town has a tricked out 46. A great looking rig.
Ah, I did that word already. Well, not in the ultimate sense, but I hope to.
ReplyDeleteHi Jim, Katrin looks okay, I reckon I would trust Mrs Jim to give me a trim. I think that guy has quite a job on his hands clearing that lot up. Thats really amazing the Pear tree in blossom like that. Bob.
ReplyDeleteTina -- It was a certain religion and I just didn't want to say it in my blog.
ReplyDeleteJeanette -- It really wasn't so hard. A video came with the clippers and there is some stuff on the Intenet.
Lucy -- I like your definition of Heaven. Thank you.
Cliff -- Marilyn deserves a nice old Ford pickup. She could put her sign on it and write it off the taxes.
Doug -- I can't compete with you on the words. You are clever and put in the poems that go along and all.
Your readers are the greatest with their off the wall comments!
Bob (Dreadnaught) -- Thank you for Mrs. Jim on the trim. Someone from the Netherlands said the birds were nesting two months early this year. We may have slipped a cog on Mother Nature's calendar.
I thought you (with your green thumb) might like the bit about our trees.

Hi Jim,
ReplyDeleteYour photo of the osage oranges, which I refer to them as hedge apples, well that' what I've heard them called. Some one said to just sit them out or but them under your bed and your spiders will disappear! Sounds to goood to be true, well it is, I tried it and I think the dang spiders weer attracted to it!
I'm using some hedge apples in my sewing room and my shower room to keep out the crickets. They are working miraculously!
ReplyDeleteThose Horse Apples look pretty. I like unusual looking blooms and fruit and leaves and such.
ReplyDeleteKatrin looks maaahvelous, so Mrs. Jim deserves the praise for a job well done.
Fall has begun here, but only a little. Give it three more weeks or so, and things will have changed a lot more.
Katrin's looking pretty spiffy! Mrs. Jim's quite a groomer. Enjoyed the Osage Oranges... Deb
