Feast or famine?

20 Do not join those who drink too much wine
or gorge themselves on meat,

21 for drunkards and gluttons become poor,
and drowsiness clothes them in rags.

Proverbs 23:21 (NIV link)

Picture of the day:

Word of the Day: GLUTTONY (source: 7 Deadly Sins)

Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.
Why you do it: Because you were weaned improperly as an infant.
Your punishment in Hell will be: You'll be force-fed rats, toads, and snakes.

  1. Rats, toads and snakes? All three? Then it's a good thing I have been on a 1000 calories a day diet since May. Saved by the bell!

  4. Dear Jim,
I bet you know how to keep both your lusts and your weights under control.
All the delicious plates shown by Jim and his bunch are always neatly arranged. No gluttons there, just loving, caring family togetherness.
    Good on you, Jim.

  5. Hi Jim ~~ Great menu in Hell. You really made my day. I enjoy cooking and eating, but not to the extent of gluttony
Thank you for your comments the other day and enjoyed the blonde thinking she was shot with the bread dough. Must be powerful stuff that. And the phone story was a good one. Sorry your Dad's phone was stolen. Someone wanted a souvineer of the old phone. I think most of them used to say, Number Please, but then we could say "Information Please" Nowadays
it's Press 1 or Press2 and no humans involved. Take care, Regards, Merle.

  6. That is a hitonious punishment!!

I partook in gluttony last night. I had been curbing my caloric intake for the past two weeks, but last night we went out for dinner. Then I came home and made cookies and ate eight of them.
I'm back on the straight & narrow today.

    :-)
