(2) Week's Favorite: This would be Maggie. Maggie and Phil have been married about a year now. We count her as the newest in the family. Both graduated from college about a year ago. They live in Georgia and we weren't able to attend their wedding.

(1) Starts with "V": A slice, wedge shaped, of Pumpkin Pie (most any pie slice for that matter). Mrs. Jim made the pumpkin pie at the cabin from the ingredients she had brought, before we ate.
We were in north Louisiana for BIL's, Royce's, Birthday Party. It was a BIG numbered birthday.
(3) Thankful: For our family and for everyone to have a safe drive home.
When the fire needed stirring or more logs added KP would call "Cowboy". Cowboy is her second cousin, another Phil, retired after serving 26 years in the Air Force. Phil is Royce and Velma's (Mrs. Jim's sister) son. KP had never met anyone who wears a cowboy hat.
The party was at a state park in north Louisiana. It is about a six hour drive from our home. We have stayed there before and have had several family reunions in one of the lodges.
One of the activities was a scavenger hunt in the woods. Here is Cowboy Phil and KP on the right in the picture on the right. This was in the back yard of our cabin and Lake D'Arbonne was behind.

You have plenty of time to enter as you can get the letter and the other two requested topics as early as Monday, posted in her sidebar at its top.
That looked a like a lovely place to stay and have a family reunion and it also looks great fun. The pie looks yummy also and the fire is well stoked up. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great event - happy belated birthday to Royce! The scavenger hunt would be a lot of fun. The weather looks great too. Unlike mine! I did some research on small mammals of Texas and determined that you do indeed have several shrew and vole species who live down there. They are mostly different species from ours, but the woodland vole is one that we share. Not to worry - you would never step on one. They are extremely skittish and hide very quickly, and can sense vibration in the ground when anything is walking nearby. They are very difficult to spot, which is why I was so excited to have seen that one under my bird feeder, although it was only through the window. If I went outside to photograph it, it would have disappeared!
ReplyDeleteJim, such great family fun!
ReplyDeleteI so love pumpkin pie. I had a slice after a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner aboard a train. It was most wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a great time.
Have a fabulous weekend. ☺
I love the idea of family gathering in a place all can enjoy and no one is specifically responsible for being housekeeper and host/hostess. KP is growing like a weed! :-)
ReplyDeleteA scavenger hunt -- how fun! V is for "v-amily" and lots of it. Joyfulness. Thanks for sharing, Jim.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a great Thanksgiving. Nice to hear. Very creative use of the pumpkin pie for the letter v. :-) Thanks for joining Friday's Hunt. Have a good week!
