. . . HAPPY NEW YEAR !!! . . .
(A) Starts with "A"; (B) A Favorite; (C) Apple; and (D) Reflection(s).
(A) Starts with "A": Alligator starts with "A". This is my Favorite MacDonald's toy, it has replaced my Toy Mouse that I used it use it to keep company with my Computer Mouse. That one is temporarily mislaid right now.
(B) A Favorite: This is my All Time Favorite, it is a Hurricane Harvey picture of an alligator that had swam out of an overfilled Flood Control Retention lake near our house. It came to that neighbor's back door.
We are not allowed to mess with the Free Range Alligators around, as they are protected species who were here in the rice fields way before there were any houses. It was a part of our HUD and EPA agreement.
If they get cantankerous or injure a person or pet the Sheriff Department will come take them back to their pond. I had to get pretty close to take this Alligator's picture on the right.
[I couldn't find a picture of Harvey. This is one I took at a boat dock in Orange, Texas. There may be some Reflection in the picture.]
(C) Apple: My desert favorite food, one of them at least, is Apple Pie. See below for my Quick and Easy Apple Pie recipe.
I am going on year 12 of not eating any donuts. At right is my favorite 'not-donut' favorite product from Shipley Donuts. It is a Fried Apple Fritter. [click picture for larger view].
(D) Reflection(s): This is one of our Flood Control Retention Pond in our neighborhood. There are numerous paths throughout the many acres set aside for flood control. Note the balloon flying towards us in the middle of the picture.
Some have "Beware Alligators" signs, I have not seen by this pond but there may be an alligator or two at any of these ponds. I took the picture to show layout, it just happens to have a small reflection in the pond.
Below is a part of my prior post showing my "Quick and Easy Apple Pie" recipe: [a bunch of recipes I've posted, click here] [my Quick and Easy Apple pie post, click here]

Apple pie and cheese my favoriteI'd have a slice of American Cheese
over a large slice of still warm apple pie.
What could be better than that?

What is to follow here will be my quick and easy apple pie recipe.
This apple pie will be really good once I get it baked.
.
But first I have to get dressed.
My Saturday morning rule,
be dressed by noon.

Okay, I didn't dress. Instead I typed up my recipe:- - - - - - - - - - - -
Ingredients:
1 Box pastry shells for two 9-inch two-crust pies
(Kroger frozen Pie Crusts-unroll & bake or equivalent)
6 cups sliced pared tart apples
1 can prepared Apple Pie Filling (Comstock or equivalent)
¼ teaspoon cinnamon – optional*
¼ teaspoon nutmeg – optional*
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
Heat oven to 425°. Prepare pastry using directions on the box.
Stir together optional spices, sliced apples, and prepared pie filling mix.
Turn into pastry-lined pans; dot with butter
Cover with top crust using fluting and design of your choice. Be sure
there are a few opening slits for the steam to escape.
Place strip of aluminum foil covering the edges. Otherwise the crusts
will bake first and may even burn.
Remove foil for the last 15 minutes.
Bake 45 minutes, more or less. Pie is done when crust is brown and
the pie liquids begin to ease or bubble through the crust openings.
* I generally do not add additional spices. Remember the seasoning
in the prepared mix is for one pie in the eyes of the manufacturer. This
may not be strong enough flavor for two pies to suit your taste.
I hope you try making this, it really is quick and easy. And good!

Oh the apple pie. Yummy. I'm going to see if I can get hubby to make that pie.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and weekend, Jim and Mrs. Jim. 😎
...now come on now Jim, how old are you? You have a favorite MacDonald's toy? Free range alligators, now that would NOT to my liking. You and I are on the same page when it comes to apple pie, but an apple fritter is just a type of donut! I live in a boring neighborhood, there are no "Beware Alligators" signs! Thanks old buddy for stopping by, enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Jim! I also like apple pie with a slice of cheese, but I always have cheddar. Never tried it with American cheese, bet it's good though. Donuts are a real weakness, I love them. I don't eat many because I'd want more. When I go off a diet it's always the first thing I want to eat! Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteDawn
Now that apple pie looks good an am sure it tasted fabulous Jim. I cannot say I am sad not having alligators in Northern Ireland!! I hope you have a great week ahead
ReplyDeleteHaha, love your Saturday rule to be dressed by noon! Not that isn't a sign we ever would see here in the Pacific Northwest. Now on our new property I might have to put up a beware of rattlesnakes sign. Ugh! Happy New Year, Jim!
ReplyDeleteNice post! Now I want some apple pie. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
ReplyDeleteOooh! I'm going to make your apple pie recipe. Fried Apple Fritters are my favorite, too. Yum!
