Adi Can . . .

Adi can smell so well. No, she doesn't always smell good, stinks sometimes for that matter, but she does smell well.

We went on a walk yesterday, Mrs. Jim dropped us off at the proshop on her way to play golf. We took the long way home. These pictures (click on them to enlarge) show how she can smell (well).

.
Here, Adi looks like a blood hound
smelling along the way.
She is right on the trail.
Remember the day she tracked the deer (link)?

.

Adi can stop to smell the roses

.

Adi can sniff out a golf ball for me

.

Adi can smell not so good some times.

Adi can be very patient while waiting for her bath.

.

Adi can smell so good after her bath

it makes her frisky.

A frisky, clean beagle likes to play with her

teddy bear.

.
Adi can help dry herself off

by licking her feet dry.

.

Adi can smell like strawberries after her bath.

She shampoos first with Suave strawberry scented shampoo.

Then she shampoos with oatmeal doggy shampoo.

Last is her Suave strawberry conditioner.

.

At our house, when Karen was still here, we had this thing going between us.

We told anyone who even acted like they wanted to hear, that our feet smelled like strawberries.

Well, now her doggy's feet smell like strawberries too.

.

Mine still do smell like strawberries, just ask Mrs. Jim.

I think Karen's feet still smell like strawberries too, just ask Billy.

Honda Accord Video

It's so funny.

I got it in an e-mail from Cousin Judy in Omaha.

Even if you've seen it, you might want to watch again.

So here is e-mail and all (link for video is at the bottom):

"Date: Tue 30 May 17:21:36 CDT 2006
From: "Judy . . .
Subject: Honda Accord Video
To: "Jim . . .

Be sure to read the info first, then watch the clip.

And you thought those people that set up roomfuls of dominos to knock over were amazing. There are no computer graphics or digital tricks in the film. Everything you see really happened in real time exactly as you see it.The film took 606 takes. On the first 605 takes, something, usually very minor, didn't work. They would then have to set the whole thing up again. The crew spent weeks shooting night and day. By the time it was over, they were ready to change professions.

The film cost six million dollars and took three months to complete including full engineering of the sequence. In addition, it's two minutes long so every time Honda airs the film on British television, they're shelling out enough dough to keep any one of us in clover for a lifetime. However, it is fast becoming the most downloaded advertisement in Internet history.

Honda executives figure the ad will soon pay for itself simply in "free viewings" (Honda isn't paying a dime to have you watch this commercial!). When the ad was pitched to senior executives, they signed off without any hesitation - including the costs.

There are six and only six hand-made Honda Accords in the world. To the horror of Honda engineers, the filmmakers disassembled two of them to make the film.Everything you see in the film (aside from the walls, floor, ramp, and complete Honda Accord) is parts from those two cars.

The voiceover is Garrison Keillor. When the ad was shown to Honda executives, they liked it and commented on how amazing computer graphics have gotten. They fell off their chairs when they found out it was for real.

Oh, and about those funky windshield wipers. On the new Accords, the windshield wipers have water sensors and are designed to start doing their thing automatically as soon as they become wet.

New Batwoman is a lesbian

CNN.com - New Batwoman is a lesbian - Jun 1, 2006

[For the kids: lesbians are women who fall in love with women instead of men.]

"Editor: 'We decided to give her a different point of view' "

Well, well, good old DC Comics (remember them?) is doing in a good series comic book. Now the Batwoman will emerge in July!

[Note: http://www.technorati.com/pop/ has my Batwoman blog first on their list right now, 11:55 CST. Thanks, guys.]

"The new Batwoman is "a more unique personality than others in the Bat-family," says a DC Comics editor. "

"NEW YORK (AP) -- Years after she first emerged from the Batcave, Batwoman is coming out of the closet."

I was not a Batman fan, but I just might have to see how this Batwoman goes. Will it be rated "R" or do comics even have ratings. We will have to see what the parent groups will be saying about all this.

Of course it will appeal to prurient interests. Will that let you and me out? I hope so, but still curious people don't necessary have those evil prurient interests.

My mother would flip over in her grave if she knew about this, most mothers would. Maybe my conscience will do the flip also if I were to get very interested, besides curiosity interests.

It should be cleaner than porn; my curiosity won't let me go there. I draw the limit because it demeans the value (no pun intended) of women. Cheapens them, as they say.

Tomorrow (or tonight, but it's too late for me) we can Google the blogs [use the more feature on your Google page, then select blog searches form the resulting list--of more].

I plain Googled batwoman comics to get a sloughful of writeups. New York Dailey News Entertainment (link) quoted a book dealer: ' "It amps it up a little bit," said Ron Hill, 37, manager of Jimmy Hanley's Universe, a comic book shop on W. 33rd St. "They've long abandoned things aimed at 8-year-olds." '

The 2003 movie, Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman, was not about this lesbian Batwoman. Read the review here. BTW, Kelly Rippa did the voice acting for the mysterious Batwoman. (Ibid)

Let's check it out (curiosity, remember?).

BTW, the DC in DC Comics stands for the once part of their name, Detective Comics (source --Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ). You can also go to the DC Comics Web site at http://www2.warnerbros.com/batman/.

Six months and still going/running

My blog, JIM'S LITTLE BLOG, is six months old today.

I will do a recap, but first we will have an

Adi Can ...

Adi can finish changing this tire on Jim's old Ford. But will she?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Yes, my first post was December 1, 2005 (link). Some say December is a bad month to start a blog, but thanks to some help this one made it through, somewhat.

The help of course was a big boost by Cliff (link) and his readers. And a lot of kids and relatives too. You all came to see what was doing here. I thank you for staying with me.

.
Now, for some stats. These are small potatoes compared to a lot of others. I don't know if I could handle a large readership like some of you have.

.

  1. 130 -- Rachel, Sliding Through Life
  2. 83 -- Cliff, Cliff Morrow's Blog
  3. 58 -- Karen, Karen's Happiness
  4. 52 -- Seeker, The First Hundred
  5. 44 -- Susie, Chan's Chats (hasn't posted for a long time)
  6. 39 -- Mitch, My wife is CRAZY (ditto for Mitch)
  7. 30 -- Cheyenne, Muse & Amuse
  8. 29 -- Ralph, Homespun Headlines
  9. 25 (tie)-- Happy/Useless Man, Useless Advice From Useless Men ............................................................................... 25 (tie) -- Curious Servant, Job's Tales [he was in the hospital yesterday, please check on him--you can pray too, things are serious]

Ok, Britmum, All Things English, and Radical One, Favorite Sister's Thoughts, were tied for 11th at 23 comments each. Britmum first found me and commented April 25. Busy regulars (I'm honored when these comment), Poopie, poop happens, with 16 comments, and Rhodent, Rhodent, with 5 are valued readers too.

Discontinued Elise left 64 comments, and Carol, Smiles and Laughter, who has been quite for the last couple of months left 16, and the now quiet yellow_moosebumps, yellow_moosebumps, left 8.

Jim lead the pack with some answers, there were 140 answered comments. Anonymous, now cut off, on April 24, had 121 comments.

.[[sorry, Blogger won't upload for me again. I'll try again tomorrow]

Please just keep on helping me make a go of it. I haven't settled down and might never will. So neither of us know what might be on here next.

Until next time, "Thanks a Million!"

Jim

Gene and Sue and their Alvin Opry

This is Sue, Mrs. Jim's cousin from Alvin.

[Well, it was supposed to be her picture, Blogger isn't getting pictures uploaded for me this morning. I did these of Gene yesterday, along with Sue, but Sue's got lost.] [Not all is lost, she is at the bottom of yesterday's post along with her grandson.]

I have been knowing Sue for about as long as I have known Mrs. Jim, about two months after we met. That is thirty-four years! Sue's three daughters call Mrs. Jim by 'Aunt [Mrs. Jim].' That really isn't strange for this family, Mrs. Jim calls some of her distant cousins aunts as well (example, Aunt Viola). Sue's mother-in-law and Mrs. Jim's grandmother were sisters.

.

At the reunion Saturday, as soon as we arrived, I was almost accosted by Mrs. Jim's cousin, Gene. He said his wife, Sue, didn't believe I was running a blog. Sandra had been telling them about it.

Gene and Sue run the Alvin Opry (link), located in Alvin, Texas. You can read about Gene and his start in singing by navigating from "The Stars" or click here.

Alvin Opry has been running for seventeen years now.

Sue also writes a weekly newsletter, ALVIN OPRY NEWS (link).

I do hope Sue, that you will read my blog, at least every now and then. Gene, could you spare a few minutes now and then too?

And all the other readers, please check on these Alvin Opry guys. I will put a link on the sidebar so no one need remember it.

If you would be in the Houston area, you would have a good evening there**. Everyone is real friendly! It's located in the Tri-County Opry House, Alvin, Texas

.

.

.

** The June 2006 (or whatever month) schedule is one their Event Calendar. Something is going on every Friday and Saturday night at 7:30pm, except for family reunion weekend.

The Gospel Show is every 3rd Sunday of the month, from 2-5PM.The admission is FREE!

The latest Alvin Opry News says:

"The Alvin Opry is Alvin's Original Live Country Music and Comedy Stage Show.

"We have been in existence since 1989. We invite you to set aside a weekend night and come and take a comfortable theater-styled seat and enjoy an evening of great Texas fun. We hold auditions every Thursday night at 7:30pm at the Opry building."

HAPPY 18th ANNIVERSARY, SANDRA AND EVERETT

.
I could say, Happy 18th Anniversary, Number One JIM'S LITTLE BLOG Fan Club member. Also Happy Anniversary, cousins from Orange, Texas.

Better not do the Number One thing now. The fans aren't organized very well yet except for Sandra, the president. She checks me every morning like clockwork.

.

Then too, there may be other fan clubs that I'm not aware of. If so, they might want to be Number One .

One reason Sandra likes to read it is because she doesn't know what to expect. People might read my blog in trying to figure me out. I hope they won't really be able to predict me, except for things with Adi.

Adi is my second love, Mrs. Jim is first. I carry in my Bible a drawing of a heart with an arrow through it. I title it "Jimmy's Heart." The arrow is named Mrs. Jim. I'll show that later.

Seriously, I do want to thank people who read my blog. I know those of you who post occasionally and those relatives and friends who report every now and then.

Site Meter tells me the weekly average is around 25 to 35 hits a day. Some come back because I haven't updated yet, like today which is late. Mrs. Jim and I golfed this morning.

This lady with her grandson is also Mrs. Jim's cousin. We visited with her at the reunion too.

More about cousins, Gene and Sue tomorrow.

Missing

The posts on the various blogs today, one and the comments in particular, has gotten me to thinking about the missing in action. Blogs like this are hitting me, more so than today's newspaper.

Most military cemeteries I have seen have markers all over the place of those unknowns no one knows. When we were in Italy the first time (for me) we visited an American cemetery. They are all over Europe--in France too.

We visited the office there, looking for a name, Eugene Pitre. He is Mrs. Jim's brother who had been shot down over the Mediterranean in WWII. Just him and his P-38.We knew they had never found his plane or body, but there was no record of him either.

We didn't ask enough questions but have decided later that their computerized list was just of those known to be burried in the national cemeteries.

He enlisted when he was only seventeen. That was while Mrs. Jim was still in her mother's womb. He was her brother she never met. Mrs. Jim hasn't said anything about him yet today, I will bring him up now.

Whenever we are on the Mediterranean or just looking out over it, we think of Eugene Junior. That was true again many times this spring again while were in Sicily looking towards Tunisia.

Of course we can never go to the cemetery to visit his grave.

Honor our veterans today,

Especially those who were involved in the continuing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Unless we have a soldier in the close family we tend to forget about the conflict these brave volunteers have endured. We go on, business as usual.

Yet when these fellows come back, their problems are not left behind. Mental illness and suicide are up, as is divorce.

The state of Texas is trying to help the situation by opening marital retreats to help get them back into our society. Time will tell how it is working out.

An editorial in today's Houston Chronicle (
link) calls this the invisible war and that we should focus on the continuing sacrifices of these American military personnel.

"Memorial Day is a time to honor America's war dead, but it should also be an occasion to remember and reach out to the American veterans whose lives have been forever changed by their service." words of the Chronicle (
ibid).

As an insight to this, although I was not involved in conflict, I sometimes have mixed emotions about my own military service. I served five years in the U.S. Army, two as a draftee and the following three by reenlisting.

I didn't mind giving five years to my country and I did learn electronics that I probably would not have done had I still been working in the watch factory in Lincoln.

I have to remember that a lot died or had bad troubles, nobody even shot at me nor did I have to shoot anyone.

But it was five years out of my life, five years in my early twenties when a lot are just plain enjoying the beginning of their adulthood.

One time, on Veterans Day, at work, our secretary e-mailed us guys who had been in the service a little 'thank you' note. That was touching, it was the only time I have been thanked for these five years of my life being spent in uniform.

Who is Jim Bunch?

Google Search (not the blog one) for Jim Bunch has put my Jim's Little Blog fourth of a long list of Google search returns. Try it!

Site Meter tells me when the visits happen, more than once a day.

Now I'll get a bunch more hits from search returns for Jim's Little Blog. I really think my site is more interesting than any of these others, but I'm not the person they started looking for. Some hang around to read, others click away back to Google.

Just who is this Jim Bunch? Not me, but I'll just put those first four on one page here, with my Number Four first, maybe you'll get to liking my site.

This was a part of my post for May 18, 2006:

and then:
"Tonight is special, no cooking for either of us. We are eating at our Yacht Club (link 1) with some friends. It is fried chicken and fried catfish night at the buffet (menu link)**. Reservations are for six P.M. "
more:
"Right now Mrs. Jim is in the process of manrinating and roasting eight pork loins, each is a half loin, weighing between five and six pounds. . . "

Imagine being Number 4 on a Google search (of Jim Bunch) out of "Results 1 - 10 of about 21,800,000 for Jim Bunch. (0.15 seconds)."
