Ain't she cute! — Six Word Saturday — Grandkid picture

I haven't posted our youngest lately

[Click on a picture to see it larger]

So here are a couple taken with Karen's cell phone.

KP really likes her new toy. It allows her to stand up or, I think, sit down. She has been getting restless lately and the Kids decided to let her be more active.

I will probably see it tomorrow. I hope it has music, she loves music. The "Can Can Song" is her favorite.

This is how tall she is. Billy is supporting her, she isn't quite old enough to stand and/or balance that good yet. We think she will be tall, Billy is over six feet.

My golf ball laughed at me — MidWeek Blues — for my whole game

[large picture] [extra large]

In case you have trouble reading this, it says (first line) "?", (second line) "Haa". Third line is printed upside down for some reason.
Printing on the cart dashboard tells how to drive the electric cart.

How would you like to look at that laughing ball every time you were to hit?

It's almost depressing.

Fourteen fellows from Mrs. Jim's Sunday school class go golfing on Tuesdays.
Lately they have been inviting me and for the first time I went along with them.
Before the weather wasn't nice enough for an old fellow like me. This Tuesday was really nice. We are hoping Spring is here to stay.

Here we are finished and are on our way back to the cart barn.

Our three-some was following these fellows in two more carts. And further behind the last foursome were still playing. They had stopped for a sandwich and some others had played in, going ahead of them.

Ten of us had stayed to chat a little and wait for the last four to get in.

From left to right are Jim O, Tom R, Jim R, Joe R, Jim H (me), James C, and Doyle B. Not show, taking picture, was Jack H. who played with John M. and I for our threesome.

We left just in time. The course is the Raven's Nest Golf Course in Huntsville and belongs to the University of Sam Houston State University. I say just in time because a golfing class came out for their golfing lesson which must start at 3:00 PM.

Huntsville is about 28 miles north of us on Interstate 45 leading out of Houston, Texas. Huntsville was the home of Texas first president, President Sam Houston, when we were our own country. He was also the first governor of Texas. There is a very fine museum in town honoring him.

Huntsville is also famous for this statue:

Cousins Jack and Linda from Nebraska standing by Sam Houston

For more about the statue on my blog, please click here.

Or do less. All she requires is a BLUE PICTURE, you don't have to write.

Hellen Garriot pottery -- Ruby (Red) Tuesday -- My most used red book

Sorry I am late. I had an appointment with my cardiologist today.
Nuclear stress test and sonogram of my abdominal and kidney arteries.
I'll be needing a stent in my artery to the left kidney.

Congratulations to daughter, Karen!
She completed in Sunday's Houston Marathon Half Marathon race.

Last week I missed out on the homework of posting red books that we use in our homes. (Mary please this one time accept my late homework.) This is the one that I use most, The Teacher's Bible Commentary Edited by H. Franklin Paschall and Herschel H. Hobbs. It mentions every verse and chapter in the Bible, giving insight for Sunday school teachers.

It is fairly well used by a friend of mine, Sam L, who died this Fall. He had given it to me when they moved from their house to a multi-level-care facility. It is copyright in 1972. Sam was a man of love, I never heard him talk bad about anyone and whoever he was with at any time he treated as this person had the greatest value to him.

This Sun Jar, as we call it, was made by my friends wife, Helen Garriott. She had a little studio and kiln in Seabrook, Texas (link). We also have several of her Moon Jars--See picture below (link to Garriott family post).

Helen's husband was Astronaut Owen Garriott, a SkyLab astronaut. I did a lot of training with Owen for his first space mission when I was working at NASA in Houston as a Simulation and Training Engineer. He was a heads up-asking questions-fast learner.

Owen once came to deliver a speech at our Phi Beta Lambda (national college business club fraternity) state leadership conference. At that time and several years around I was the 'club' sponsor. That also involved taking students to the National Leadership Conference where they competed in competition about business subject areas with colleges all over the U.S. We took home many prizes and were always a top scoring 'club.'

Owen and Harriet's son, Richard also went into space to visit the Space Station as a paying cosmonaut on the Russian shuttle transport. (link, same as above). Later I had his daughter in one of my business classes. It's a small world.
