In Colorado some more, Mountain Village and Telluride, Part One -- Colorado Holiday Part III
This post continues our visit in Colorado with our Montgomery neighbors, Roger, Mrs. Roger, and Luke at their ranch near Telluride.
Today's post shows us in Telluride as our friends act a wonderful tour guides.

First we went to Mountain Village where we parked our car. First we would have lunch at the Peaks Resort & Golden Door Spa, Hotel Telluride. Below is the outdoor patio eating area, as we had Luke with us this day, we would go to the patio for eating.
Lunch was excellent, every one of us had different orders.
Mine was the best!
Our drinks were Arnold Palmers and water.
The Arnold Palmer is becoming quite popular,
it consists of unsweetened ice tea and lemonade,
half and half.
Luke would be good in France. He just stayed nearby
or under the table while we ate.
That wouldn't work right now for Adi and Katrin,
they stand looking at us with big eyes and drooling!
Isn't the view from our table fabulous!
Next summer we might bring golf clubs.
Mrs. Jim caught the first car, but they wouldn't let dogs on this one.
She was waiting for us on a bench when we got to the top.
Luke was apprehensive!
Next posting coming back, you will see how relaxed he became.

At the top, we entered an other cable lift to go down
to Telluride at the bottom on the other side of the mountain.
This is the view from the top,
looking back over Mountain Village where we departed.
And looking down at the old city of Telluride.
These Segways aren't for sale, you can rent them.
You are seeing my first ride on
one of these wonderful fun machines.
Roger, Luke, and Mrs. Jim stood in the shade
while we tried the Segways out.
Later the ladies would go into that real estate office
to peek at home offerings.
Way out of our budget was the verdict for Telluride homes.

Next week, August 11-17, 53 restaurants are participating. All meals (three-course) are $35.00.
Five dollars goes to Houston's End Hunger Network this week.

Ruby (Red) Tuesday -- Adi can . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Play wanna be traffic cop

Adi is playing queen of the sidewalk and wanna be traffic cop here. She just knows this fellow coming is going too fast to stop. [I, the intelligent human being, know he doesn't intend to stop.]
I missed getting a picture of Adi closing her eys and putting her paws over her ears!

Sure enough, this guy did run the stop sign! Right in broad daylight, he broke the law! Worse yet he could have run over some of us pedistrians on that golf cart path/sidewalk. Or cars coming out, it was a blind intersection for him.

Sunday: New Dog -- Nice meal eating out at IHOP for under $5.00 -- Mustang is home again

Meet Katrin. Adi has a sister now, the newest member of our family. We are adopting her as we will inherit her from a very dear friend who died Wednesday.
Ain't she sweet! She may be new, but she is eight years old. So that is 'new to us.'
Was she trained well as a child? We didn't think so yesterday morning, she was a naughty girl.

This wasn't a bad thing. Even though she is a dainty poodle, here she was acting like a 'hound dog.' She chased a squirrel up this tree in our neighbor's yard.
Adi, our beagle and true hound dog, ran her squirrel the other way and up that big horse apple tree on the golf course behind our house.
The trouble was that Katrin did not want to come back to our house. It took Mrs. Jim and I both with two treats and 20 minutes to finally 'catch' her.

Ever hear the saying about 'free dogs?' "They aren't really free." Here she has left her new vet's with a $51.00 microchip embedded in her body. The way she gets away and doesn't want to come back, that microchip might help us get her back. It has her vital statistics embedded in it.

Our $5.00 meal:
Actually it was $4.99 plus tax. Mrs. Jim had coffee, that was added.
These Celebrate America regional favorites at our IHOP (International House of Pancakes) are the best. I had berries on my pancakes, Mrs. Jim had bananas foster with ice cream. I had a bite of hers, next time I will order bananas foster.
We also had for our 4.99 money, two eggs our way--Mrs. Jim's were medium hard, mine were yolk and broken hard, and a big helping of fried hash brown potatoes. Just delicious. Neither of us wanted any bacon, sausage, or ham. That would have been another $2.00 and we weren't that hungry.

We were stuffed just eating this. For a lighter meal and still get plenty, we could split one of these.

And was it ever welcome back! When it left the A/C had quite cooling and the odometer didn't work.
Now it has really cold air, a reconditioned odometer in the making (it will be finished in two weeks), a radiator flush and new coolant, and new battery cables.
It might be ready for me to put another 28,000 miles on it. That is all I have driven it in the seven years I have had it. It was a retirement present to and from me. A little younger lady had owned it before and put 49,000 miles on it in the three years she had was driving it.
