— My Alphabe-Thursday (2nd), the letter "J" / Thursday Two Questions —
.
Here are a couple of creative mail boxes used by the folks living in Port Chalmers. I wonder how much junk mail they really are getting. Please note the church in the far end of my picture's sidewalk.
This is the inside of the church above. We stayed in Port Chalmers, New Zealand, while our ship was docked there. Some of the others went on 'excursions' furnished by Princess Cruises or that they had negotiated on their own.
Mostly we walked around but we did enjoy free Internet for over an hour in the library, visited this old Lutheren church, went into the grocery store for a couple of items we needed, visited the (free) maritime museum, and window shopped at the various tourist targeted stores.
Our walking took us through a scenic path down the sidewalks of town. Towards the end we walked up the big hill above the hotel pictured on the right above. The pictures below were taken from up on that hill. It is steeper and higher than it looks in the picture. [You can click on any picture for a larger size view. Back to Junk Mail. The above picture was taken in 2006 and posted then (link). It is of a pile of mail probably half of it is Junk. A similar experience awaited me this time when we came home from New Zealand and Australia. Oh yes, I do always take these boxes back to the P.O. I've been told too, that there is a big fine for keeping them.

Much more than half of our mail is Junk. . I get a lot of junk e-mail too. I keep some here and others in another blog here.

"J" is for Junk Mail. We get plenty of it. I wonder if this New Zealander's box gets any of it. About a fourth of the mail boxes in NZ seem to have some admonition note left for the mail carrier to not leave junk mail in their boxes. I hope it works for them.

Now for my Thursday Two Questions.
My last post last week was about the of "I" word, "I" is for Invisible .and partly about the crossing the International Date Line during our flights. I enjoyed reading about your kind feelings towards these words.
I was able to take a picture out the window of that line. Unfortunately it was dark outside so the picture leaves a lot to the imagination.

Chickee begged. "I've got just one question," he asked his mum, "why can't we get a new red roof like the others?"
"Stupid question, shut up."
