Starts with "D"Dog will be my "D" word today.  Von, a German Shepherd, was my first dog growing up.  She died when I was about eleven, Von followed me everywhere, she protected me from even the older cousins if their playing got rough. Also, if a car were to visit our farm, Von wouldn't let them out of the car until my father came to their rescue.

A Favorite: You all know that Adi was My Favorite Dog of all the dogs.  She was the last too, no more dogs for us.  Click the "labels" that are beneath this post to see more of Adi Beagle Dog on the blog.

Before Adi had come a Water Spaniel dog, I have forgotten its name.  We left her in El Paso for her to live with the new tenant in our house when we went to New Hampshire.  No dogs for us up there.

In Pasadena, Texas I picked up two dogs, on was another German Shepherd dog, she was old and not very healthy.  She died after a few years.  I do not remember much about the other dog.

Next was a few more years, then when Mrs. Jim and I were married she already had a Chiwawa dog.  It liked me pretty well.  Then came our little dog Toto. As a pup she followed Mrs. Jim and our daughter when they were walking past her in the backyard.  The owner had been giving away a litter of dogs, she said we could keep Toto.

[This is a Dutch Police dog, we always called it "German.
again from Wikipedia,URL.]

"Dark"Duke, my dog, a German Police dog, we called that, this one is a Dutch Police, looking about the same, after Von died, would walk with me to the outhouse in the middle of the night in the Dark.  (it was in the edge of the grove behind the new chicken house.

I left him on the farm when I went off to college.  Lois quickly took my spot; he had always liked her even before that.  Lois may have a picture of Duke, all our pictures pre 1980 where ruined when our house flooded the summer before.
