Are Men smarter than Women?

A recent article that was published in the Houston Chronicle by Eric Berger (the SciGuy):

Now after reading this, I wasn't sure if it was true so I had to ask someone who is very wise. I asked Karen and she said it is not true. Given that her motto is that the wife knows best, I am inclined to agree. Of course, I may be saying that for my own personal safety.

Any thoughts?

Do svidaniya

.
[prounced dosvidaniya] for a short term [of two plus weeks]. It's jail for the Jim's again.

As the picture above says, "don't turn your computer off (don't go away) ." Billy and Karen will write here while we are gone! Like I said, I will read about it when/if we return.

.

.

Adi has her bags packed too! She is also under Karen and Billy's care while we are gone.

.

.

We have our map too. Our facilities (link) will move along quite rapidly. To see where all, go here (link).
Oh yes, we will take a jacket and an umbrella, it is cooler there than here in the Houston area! No hard freezes like Iowa or snow like Nebraska is forcast though.

That Jim Bunch sure does like to travel!

A quick trip to Baton Rouge and back

.
This was to see Mrs. Jim's cousins. We needed to see them again before we left for our jail trip, they are in their nineties. He is in very bad health and his wife is a weary caregiver.

This trip involved going on this very long bridge (a continuous 18.2 mile [29,290 meters] bridge (link)) across the Atchafalaya Basin (link).
.

.

Coming back started out not so much fun because of the rain. Traffic was heavy on that bridge. Then we came upon this sign. Should we take the Grosse Tete [Grosse, French for large] exit? Might be lots of activity there.

.

.

We opted for Whiskey Bay. Things were a little more relaxed there. [You might want to click on the pictures to really appreciate those signs--they are for real.]

.

.

What was special about Whiskey Bay? I took this picture on the way over. No fishing today but I'll bet they were biting good there.

Adi? She came with us, Mema too. They were in the back seat. Backseat drivers I might add; they made us get right back on the Interstate at Whiskey Bay without even stopping over.

And speaking of weary, Mrs. Jim, Adi, and I spent the night last night at church, with our Interfaith Hospitality Network (link) families. We got Mema and left from there. That's why there wasn't any post for yesterday.

A changing of the guard

.
Let's welcome guest writers, my son-in-law, Billy, and daughter, Karen. Billy is the fellow sitting on the right, at the Jim Bunch eating table.

They have no orders from me, they know my standards and writing ethics. And I have no idea what they will write. Nor how often, probably not every day.

This Friday Mrs. Jim and I are off to jail again on another hoped-to-be-nice European holiday. Here's hoping also that I blog more about this one than I did about our visit last spring.
.

.

The pictures today were taken at our subdivision's '2006 Picnic in the Park' yesterday. It was a 'bring a covered dish or desert, meat will be provided, bring your chairs tables & favorite beverages!' affair.

We were encouraged to bring the golf cart to save parking parking space. I would say more drove than brought carts. We brought both.
.

.

GC#4 came with Billy and Karen. Here she is playing toss the candy corn bag. Both her form and her aim were good today.
.

.

GC#4 was the big winner at hula-hoop. She has very good coordination skills. Breaking news! I am a finalist in the name Anne Nichol Smith's baby contest!
.

.

Who doesn't want to be painted anyway? I dare say Mrs. Jim was the only adult who got painted.

Adi Can . . . . . . . . Be all dressed up with no place to go

.
She even had a bath yesterday morning. But first things first, we decided to replace the other five batteries in the golf cart. The first one was changed out a couple of weeks ago.

Her ride would be right after lunch. I put her to work. You might remember that Adi is a therapy dog. We drove into Conroe and visited the folk at the assisted living center for about an hour.

Both Adi and the folk there like her visit. The folk tell me all about the dog (s) they used to have, some looked just like Adi. They tell me that just about every time we go. One fellow had a pack of beagles like Adi. They helped him hunt rabbits.

When we got home the charger had finished and we took a test ride. All seems fine with the new batteries.
