June Bug . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . No, It's September, 2007, Love Bugs

Two Louisiana love bugs. Most always we see them in pairs, even flying around.

Love is wonderful!

.

.

I found these two along with a whole lot more sitting on the car after we stopped. A lot too were squashed on the front of the car. They are hard to remove.

Click here for my JIM'S LITTLE PICTURE PLACE. Or do the duck click again, either way.

"God Loves You" -- Sunday, August 19, 2007

"God Loves You"

In the quiet, love is reaching.
It’s yours to hold,
Be still and know that
Even when you’re lost and lonely,
And hope is gone, you’re not alone.

Far beyond the understanding,
There’s a hand that leads,
If you believe.

Through the darkness, see the light.
Remember God loves you.

The road ahead is long and winding.
With eyes of faith, you’ll find the way, yeah.
And when the journey leaves you weary,
You can rest in the comfort of heaven’s arms -
Sweet loving arms.

And peace will follow.
Peace be with you always,
As you go.
For now you know that...

Through the darkness, there’s a light.
Remember God loves you.

When you open up your heart,
His love will meet you where you are.
He will always be a part of everything you do.
He is here to set you free,
And give you all the strength you need
To carry on, to carry on.

Through the darkness, see the light.
Remember God loves you. (remember, remember)
Remember God loves you.

My Status Report -- Friday, August 17, 2007:

This is over, those 95 volt rapid shocks.
Purpose?
To help reduce the swelling in my hurt finger.
.

1. My finger therapy is over! It's not all better but my Medicare Insurance only provided for 20 visits. I have been going for six plus weeks now, mostly three days a week. Just once a week this last one.
.
[click on any picture to enlarge]
These two pictures are of my finger STRAIGHTENER.
I will still be using this machine at home, several times a day and trying to sleep with it on.

.
.
"Crank it up!" The tension, that is.

This machine pulls in the finger. After all that straightening it wants to stay straight and not bend when I want it to.

And this one? It is to excercise the middle finger by pulling it up against tension. I don't do this much anymore.

There are other finger and hand exercises I do at home also. Like picking up small beans and moving them to another bowl. And just plain finger bending and straightening with my own muscle power. I may buy a finger squeezing machine, I now am using the red rubber pepper toy Mrs. Jim gave me. It is like a big sponge.
.
Golfing is my favorite exercise, we had to cancel a tee time today as it was cart path only. My knee may not be up to that it yet, but it will by September! [Picture link][Blog link]
Gripping that club about 106 times really helps my hand and finger!

2. We have rescheduled our British Isles holiday for September 11 through September 25. September 11 -- 13 will be the Isle of Man. Then Scotland for the rest. We will stay at the Westin Turnberry Golf resort five nights (Sunday 16 start) with golf tee times on 17, 18, and 19.
.
The other days in Scotland will be touring with our rented car. Quite a few of the details are taken care of, the others will this week. Mrs. Jim had purchased the Turnberry resort last February through http://www.luxurylink.com/. The Westin was very kind and let us rescedule at any time during this year.
.
3. I'm healthy. I passed my nuclear stress test with flying colors, my chloresteral is well under control (179 total, 65 HDL, 86 LDL, 2.8 CHOL/HDLC ratio, and Triglycerides at 138), and even my glucose is down to 91! Blood pressure stays around 123/62 with the help of Benicar.
.
I will be scheduling for these:
Finger orthopedic doctor 22 Aug;
Tooth cleaning 27 Aug;
Eye exam 30 Aug;
January colonoscopy; and
January abdominal CTscan with dye.
.
My knee orthopedic surgeon has released me unless I have terrible knee pain or my other joints hurt so bad I need to come in. He will give me three steroid shots over three weeks in my right knee if it swells or hurts bad enough. My call.
.
I played a round of golf Wednesday with no pain. I only walked from the cart to the ball or green though. My score is my handicap, it was the same bad numb er as before I got hurt.
.
4. Main car (99 Cad Deville with 151K miles) needed a new alternator. While checking they found the AC compressor was leaking and noisy. The compressor was replaced with new Freon for free as it has a lifetime warranty.
.
That car is saying fairly loudly, "please retire me."
.
Good news too, my senior 10% discount was applied to the alternator.
.
5. Grandson, Tim [GC#1], got married. He and his wife life in California now. We will be visiting them in cold weather or hot weather, near San Diego.
.
6. We survived Tropical Storm Erin fine here. Further south in Houston there was a lot of street flooding, stalled cars, and four deaths. I don't think we are through with the rain yet.

The sky was red when I woke up yesterday. [Click picture for large size, click here for HUGE view] By the time I got the camera outside this was all that was left. It was a beautiful sunrise. This picture is of the leading edge of a nasty rain storm coming by soon.
.

.

This was the satellite picture after the eye was north of San Antonio and most of the rain had just left Houston.

.

The soaking rains hadn't come to Houston yet here, but they would, big time!
.

Next is Hurricane Dean, coming to the Texas or Mexico Gulf next Tuesday or Wednesday, after it gets hopped up again after a slowing down around or over the Mexican Yucatan Peninsula.

.
7. My blogging has slowed down a whole bunch. I'm trying to get it to be less demanding. I count who all is reading, I may cut out a few of my 'frequent reads' of some who don't reciprocate. I will lurk a little. Leaving comments takes time, time that I have been running short of.
.
I will keep JIM'S LITTLE BLOG and JIM'S LITTLE PHOTO PLACE (link) going. The first will [generally] have something 'religious' for Sunday, a writing piece--truth, fiction, or mixed--Monday or Tuesdays, a travel report Wednesdays, and a status report--like my journal--on Fridays. These could slip one way or another, with a snippet or picture thrown in between times.
.
The Photo Place will have a Wordless Wednesday picture posted for Wednesdays, I generally do this Tuesday around noontime. There will be a few other pictures posted when I feel urged.
.
8. That's enough for now, I don't want to spill any secrets.

Except the kids will say I for got my blood pressure information. It hovers around 123/67, perhaps 128/68 when in the doctors' offices. My heart rate is generally in the 60's.
.
How's that!

Girls are like phones. They (change They to We if you're a girl saying this) love to be held, talked to but if you press the wrong button you'll be disconnected!

In ten (10) seconds, if you aren't directed to http://jimmiehov6.blogspot.com/ then click on the duck.

John,
Since you always sent jokes about ladies, I thought you might enjoy this one.
Lady not named

THE BOX OF CHOCOLATES
For all of us who are married, were married, wish you were married, or wish you weren't married, this is something to smile about the next time you open a box of chocolates:

Sally was driving home from one of her business trips in
Northern Arizona when she saw an elderly Navajo woman walking on the side of the road. As the trip was a long and quiet one, she stopped the car and asked the Navajo woman if she would like a ride. With a silent nod of thanks, the woman got into the car.

Resuming the journey, Sally tried in vain to make a bit of small talk with the Navajo woman. The old woman just sat silently, looking intently at everything she saw, studying every little detail, until she noticed a white bag on the seat next to Sally.

"What in bag?" asked the old woman. Sally looked down at the white bag and said, "It's a box of chocolates. I got it for my husband."

The Navajo woman was silent for another moment or two. Then speaking with the quiet wisdom of an elder, she said: "Good trade"

Jim is gone

Click the duck to find him.

Two cannibals were eating. One said, you know I hate my mother-in-law.

The other said, well then, switch to the potatoes for a while.

Check back here in early October.

In the meantime, you might find him now and then over at JIM'S LITTLE PHOTO PLACE. Especially on Wordless Wednesdays.

Or whenever else he feels like going.

Who knows, he may even visit your blog!
