It's fair to howl tonight . . . . . . . Howl with me at the Harvest Moon
My night time photo of the Tuscan Moon in April. April Moons are very similar to October Moons. The picture at the right came with the Yaho! News article.
I howl at the moon. A very nice full moon and I will bite too, if my fangs come out!

Tonight's Full Moon 12 Percent Bigger - Yahoo! News:
"Robert Roy Britt
Senior Science Writer
SPACE.com
Fri Oct 6, 9:15 AM ET
Tonight's full Moon will be almost 12 percent bigger than some of the full Moons this year, according to NASA, setting up a fine viewing opportunity when it rises in the evening.
The reason: The Moon is near perigee, the point on its slightly out-of-round orbit that is closest to Earth.
This Moon is called the Harvest Moon, owing to its timing of being nearest the autumnal equinox. Farmers in the past relied on it to harvest all night. The Harvest Moon is not always closer and bigger than normal.
The Moon will rise around 6 p.m. local time (compute exact time for your location). It will be officially 'full' at 11:13 p.m. ET, though the Moon is never really full.
Some other strange Moon facts:
The Moon is not bigger when on the horizon.
The Moon is moving away as you read this. Far away.
There is no proof the Moon makes people crazy.
Late Monday night and into Tuesday morning, Oct. 10, the Moon will pass in front of the Pleiades star cluster, creating an interesting skywatching opportunity for skywatchers with telescopes. Moon Harvest+Moon Science Photos travel travel+and+places Tuscany

Simply put, Halloween is upon us. Three and a half weeks from now little goblins and pirates will be tormenting and raiding for candy like this.
.
I bought this sack of candy at the grocery store last night for $1.50. Not to bad a price. I had in mind eating them mixed with peanuts. Someone had written in to Heloise saying this mixture makes cheap substitute for PayDay candy bars. They do, they do taste very similar to a PayDay. Try it. Candy corns work good too.
.
The price too much for you? Wait till November 1st and they'll be half price, 98 cents or a dollar. That's half price of the regular retail price which even at the beginning of the Halloween season they didn't get.
.
They go real good with coffee. Sweet things generally do. I quit using sugar in my coffee about fifty-one years ago, I was young then. I just decided that if I was drinking coffee worth bragging about then I should know what it tastes like. Ever since that decision I have fully enjoyed that full bodied strong coffee roast flavor.
.
The coaster under the hot cup. First, it protects the mirror beneath.
Second, it is one of a set of four, gifts from Mrs. Jim's friend Oagga. Oagga is from Korea, she married her husband, a helicopter pilot, while he was there fighting in one of those other wars we didn't win.
Third, the coaster is from Korea, made in Korea. The scene on this one is titled The New Year, depicting Oriental people making preparations for the celebration. The artist is Kim Jong Rae (1927 -- ).
The other scenes are Young Greens, Summer Night, and Harvest, all by the same artist.
.
The cup itself has Texas Bluebonnets as a painted decoration. We had service for eight but I dropped one cup, it broke.
.
One last item, Halloween things are out in full force but Christmas things are here in the stores too. One lady in the grocery store asked me, "Sir, may I wish you Merry Christmas?" I said sure and she did. Then she said she had started her Christmas season this year with that wish. I wished her back. Not a big deal with me.
.
.
This is the mirror the candy was sitting on. Mrs. Jim is using it now for this Fall decoration. The mirror was Mom's. I don't remember where in her house she kept it. It was one of those things we didn't sell at the auction.
I don't know its history either. It could have been in her attic with some of the things Dad's Aunt Minnie who lived in Omaha left them. Maybe Lois (my sister) will tell us. I do know it is very heavy.

The candles are scented cinnamon and pumpkin. They are labeled pain au potiron tachet'ee, or pumpkin bread infused. I doubt if we will light them, the house smells very fragrant with them just sitting here unlit.

You are seeing right
Yes, regular gas has gone below $1.99 and we don't even have to look very hard to find it. There are places around at $1.89 (link to Houston Gas Prices ).
It is very easy to give Vice President Dick Cheney for this. You see he came to Houston campaigning today. We are paying his wages too.
He is pushing a probable loser, Republican write-in candidate Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, to represent the 22nd Congressional District formerly held by Tom Delay.
Shelley, a Houston City Council woman, is running against a Democrat, Nick Lampson. Nick was gerrymandered out of his seat earlier by Tom Delay. Now Nick Lampson is going get the disgraced Tom Delay's seat. Remember the saying, "what goes around comes around."
According to the Houston Chronicle today (link):
"Cheney spoke at the Hyatt Houston Downtown to about 200 Sekula-Gibbs supporters who paid $500 or more each for a sandwich, chips and a 15-minute speech from the vice president. She said she expects to raise $200,000 from the event."
I understand from the news tonight that nothing was mentioned of Senator Foley of Florida who recently resigned his seat.
We aren't in this district. Our Representative is Kevin Brady (Republican) and about the only bad thing I know about him is that he was arrested last year for drunk driving in South Dakota.
Madd has a Web site, Lawmakers Busted for Drunk Driving (link), where you can find Kevin and other unfortunate law makers/breakers. Kevin is towards the bottom of the page, you can search with your 'ctr F' command. I searched for 'Texas.'
I played golf today with friend, Charlie. It was a beautiful morning for golf, it got a little warm in the afternoon.

What to do on any Saturday in East Texas
[After it started they added two local Italian girls.]
So first, before we go to East Texas, lets look at tonight. Tonight was the premier episode of The Bachelor! (link)
This bachelor was a prince, Prince Lorenzo Borghese. His family is Italian, he lives in New York City. He is 34 years old, I don't think ever married, and seems a lot like I was when I was his age. That was for you girls and women.
Now for me (and us guys). I spent these last two hours being in the shoes of Lorenzo, figuring out these beautiful women.
.
.
Boast a little (for this week at least), the two Texas ladies, Jami Plumber
.
.
.
.
and Erica Rose
[Houston Chronicle links]
(from Galveston and Houston respectively) both got a rose. They will be back next week.
For a list of all the women and Lorenzo and their bios, go (click) here.
For a chance to win a trip to Italy, one each week, go (click) here. You must register as a Bachelor watcher first to enter, it tells how there on that entry page.
Who all got those twelve red roses? Why Kim, Rose, Jeanette, Jami, Ellen, Sarah, Desiree, Jennifer, Erica, Gina, Sadie, and Onessy, in that order. Rose and Onessy didn't have bio's, I might have misunderstood Lorenzo when he called these. You can click on the other's names to see where there're from.
One other item, Prince Lorenzo said it sucks to not pick the thirteen fifteen he had to let go home.

Who else but the Jim Bunch would have their picture taken?
[It was for the blog.]
.
After I put a battery in Mema's fire alarm
I cranked up the 1974 Mustang II
and took it home.
This Mustang II has 67,000 miles on it.
It belonged to Mom, we call it Grandma's Mustang II.
She had to have a stick shift, she didn't trust an automatic to be in the right gear. How in the world could a piece of machinery figure that out?
Adi thought she could go for a ride!
[But not this time.]
.
Nebraska football (playing Kansas at Nebraska) was only on the Internet for audio here in this part of Texas. No TV.
Nebraska scored first, in the first 58 seconds to make it 7 to 0.
.
The reason we took the Mustang home was to get gas. We drove to Huntsville where they don't put ethanol in the gas.
Here in Montgomery County we put it in because we are helping Houston with their pollution problems. Our speed limits are lower too so we can do more to help their pollution problem.
.
We had supper at McKenzies BBQ in Huntsville.
Usually the Huntsville car club meets there on Saturday nights, but this Saturday they had a car show at the court house square. I've met a few of these people before.
You can tell the owners like cars, the motive is car things all the way around the two dining rooms. With toy cars, license plates, car parts, etc. it all looks pretty good.
.
The game was still on when we got back. We got to hear the last two touchdowns from that streaming audio.
Nebraska won 39 to 32.

What kind of hot dog is this?
It's a French hot dog, of course!
Tucked inside a baguette,
How in the world do they make these?
.
Look what that hot dog did to GC#4's tooth?
That sounds romantic, doesn't it,
to loose a tooth in Paris!
.
Jim can have one of those French hot dogs too!
It was a part of his jail food last April.
He is hoping for food half that
good for his next jail stint
coming in a week or so.
[For sure, to see it good click on the picture!]
Here is where and how they made Jim's. At this little hot dog deli with this British machine.
The baguette is pierced with the spear looking spike that doubles as a warmer. Hot dogs, the nice sausage kind, are kept warm in the plastic container.
Mustard is poured in the hole if wanted, then the hot dog is stuck down into the center hole. Presto, the best hot dog I'll ever have (well, ALL those like it too that I ate over there).
.
[Note: we never did find a hot dog like this in Britain where they make the machine, we always had them in France, Austria or Germany.]
This summer Rachel Spencer had a blog, Au Paris, on the Houston Chronicle. I was always asking her to try the French hot dog after I described it to her. She never could find one. Family France Photos Food

He who covers his sins will not prosper
.
Regardless of what people say. Why?
.
12 When the righteous rejoice, there is great glory; But when the wicked arise, men hide themselves.
13 He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.
14 Happy is the man who is always reverent, But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.
