The Sixth Day of Christmas
The last big Christmas day. We think.
Jr.#4 and daughters, GC#2 and GC#3, are coming for an early supper and presents. Their plan is to get ahead of most of the Friday Houston exit traffic coming here and then leave after it is pretty well over to their home. Always have to go through Houston to access each other's homes.
The menu is ham, roast, mashed potatoes, green peas, Razzle-Dazzle berry pie with Blue Bell ice cream, and other food TBD later. I'm sure snacks when they get here and ??? later.
We as a family decided there wouldn't be any presents except for the little kids. The big kids were going for a charity, probably a Katrina victim family, but that has gelled as of yet. The girls presents will be fairly practical. I understand from Jr.#4 the girls also have presents for us. That probably doesn't break our family new rule.
When the kids leave we will either take down the tree so it will be gone for New Years Eve or go to Mrs. Jim's mothers community building to watch LSU win their bowl game. If Nebraska and Oklahoma could win theirs, surely LSU can whip up on Miami!
We can't watch the game at home because we don't have cable TV. There are only two families in Montgomery County who don't have cable. It will be on radio, local AM 740 and New Orleans WWL.
After yesterday's entry I did taxes. Finished them for the year really. I had to call another county as I had misplaced/lost their notice. Then a trip to Conroe to pay our house property taxes. Ouch!
While at Conroe I mailed, went to the bank, and stopped at the church and the library.
Mailing was: (1) return junk mail. I stuff non-identifying contents of my junk mail into the return envelopes and mail them back. We did get credit card apps stopped. Do this by calling 1-888-5-OPTOUT (1-888-567-8688), or go On-line at https://www.optoutprescreen.com/?rf=t. (2) the misplaced/lost tax notice's payment to Trinity County for our lot. Want to buy that lot cheap? One third wooded lot in gated lakeside and golf course community. Backs up to a Baptist conference center with access to camp amenities.
Banking was my required minimum withdrawal from my IRA there. It didn't make us rich but will pay a few bills. This has to happen when you get old. Like the old bumper sticker saying, all kinds of 's..t happens' when you get old.
The Church. Preparation for the New Years Eve party to be at our house tomorrow night. We are expecting thirty or more guests. So of course we don't have chairs for all those people and had to borrow some folding chairs. I will report on the party on January 2.
Since our New Years Eve party is a Baptist Sunday school function I probably won't have a hangover while making that report.
What was Mrs. Jim doing while I was gone? She cleaned up in the kitchen. Then she practiced her golf on holes 12, 13, 14, 15, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 in that order.

Warning to one of the two homes in Montgomery County that doesn‘t have cable TV: Monday night football is going to ESPN next year. Hardly any bowl games are are network, either. Most cable TV is better quality than network, anyway. Divy up!
Don't you just love being able to borrow chairs/tables/etc from church? I love living 1/2 block away and being able to use the kitchen/fellowship hall for family Thanksgiving or whatever... keeps my house clean. And, my husband can walk to work.
On the outside of the dog-leg on par five #11. She would have started first on #7 across the street but it was busy that way.
