Trivia Question: Where in the U.S. is most of the decaffeinated coffee made?

Maxwell House (owned by Kraft Foods) just sold their Houston plant to Houston's Maximus Coffee Group.
Carlos de Aldecoa, president of the new owner, said he would continue making coffee for Maxwell House at his plant.
Maximus is a Spanish (Spain) owned company.
The plant originally made Model T Fords, but was closed in 1924 until Maxwell House took it over in 1947.
Trivia Answer: ALL of the decaffeination plants in the U.S. are in Texas.

These folks have boosted the State of Texas economy by $17.7 Billion in the year 2005.

The 1.4 to 1.6 million illegals have also brought in more tax revenue than they have cost. $929 million cost to the local government, but they have paid in $1.58 billion in local taxes, mostly sales and school property taxes.

No wonder present Bush and now (but only after he got re-elected) our Governor Perry want these folks to be assimilated into our citizenship! They are regular money makers, better than a lot of citizens are now.

We now have 1378 homes. Estimating two persons per household would get our population to be 2756. That's large enough to make up a small town.

It wouldn't be a boost to the economy if the money already existed in Texas and was just passed around.
Economic developement depends on new jobs created not a new and cheaper work force. I'm curious how they got those figures for a group of folks with no stats to back them up.
Illegals don't register for anything.
I'm also curious how illegals are allowed to buy real estate thus allowing them the right to pay property taxes.
And lastly, have they all been frisked for, oh, say, nuclear weapons??

Jim, I'm glad to hear the Mexicans are bringing money into Texas ($17.7B)for a change instead of sending it home.
It wouldn't be a boost to the economy if the money already existed in Texas and was just passed around.
Economic developement depends on new jobs created not a new and cheaper work force. I'm curious how they got those figures for a group of folks with no stats to back them up.
Illegals don't register for anything.
I'm also curious how illegals are allowed to buy real estate thus allowing them the right to pay property taxes.
And lastly, have they all been frisked for, oh, say, nuclear weapons??

I'll try to answer a few of Cliff's questions.
Yes, these are new jobs that would go unfilled unless the pay were high enough to entice Northern workers to come and could beat their unemployment.
In Houston the majority, nationality, more than the Blacks is Hispanic. Conroe isn't far behind.
Who is legal and who is illegal isn't really known except by friends.
Those 1.4 to 1.6 million illegals are living all around, some our neighbors.
There isn't any law that says illegals can't own homes and pay taxes. A lot do in the South. Their money mostly stays in Texas.
Our Texas State Comptroller office came up with these figures. They are pretty close except the whole thing is political.
BTW, who do you think built Tom Delay's house and mows his grass?

Our church gives almost a million to missions every year. A large percentage of that goes out of the country. About the same, a lot isn't even legal in the countries they are in.
Just to say also the illegal money is piddly compared to our national trade deficit which is leagal. Toyota, anybody? Or Shell gasoline? Or Sony TV?

Thanks for the info about the illegals. In my neighbor hood, the children of the illegals, made legal through birth, are starting businesses. Where once they worked for lawn maintenance companies or car repair shops, they now own them. I've wathed this transformation over the 27 years I've lived among them.
