Met this friend ...
He had used drugs for many years. Now he has been clean for nineteen years.
This is his message:
He said he could not have straightened up without God's help
And he said he knows he will always be an addict, just a straightened up addict now.

Good for him!
I've been told that once someone is an addict, they are always an addict. I guess that means they always feel somewhat tempted by their addiction.
I trust your friend will remain straightened up for the rest of his days.
Addictions are scary things. I'm thankful I never took up smoking or drinking or drugs. I've watched many of my cousins and aunts and uncles destroy their lives and the lives of their families due to drug and alcohol addiction. It's very dangerous!!
Your friend is a real success story!!!!

Drugs are so powerful. We have watched people come out of prison free from drugs for years, yet when they come out, it's one of the 1st things they look for!
