Headline says (link):
"High court clears way for execution of 76-year-old"
Jan. 17, 2006, 12:12AM
Mrs. Jim says:
"They should have executed him 25 years ago."
The article went on, "The U.S. Supreme Court rejected an appeal Monday from a 76-year-old convicted killer who argued that he was too old and feeble to be executed."
The TV announced this morning that he was executed.
This was a pathetic ordeal, Clarence Ray Allen, who was legally blind, nearly deaf and in a wheelchair had finally exhausted his appeal.
Is there a lesson here? Mrs. Jim has hers, think about the repercussions before you act.
Mine is don't wait until you are so old to kill someone. Kill in your early years then maybe you could die by age 40 or 50. Even quicker for Florida, they don't have many juvenile protection laws.
Now if I were to kill someone, I'm so old that I would die in prison before they ever could get to killing me back. Not a bad deal maybe, with high price of gas, food, medicine, medical care, etc. now-a-days. Please come visit me if I decide to take that option.
I could live the rest of my life off the state.*
*A slight problem here: I don't have anyone in mind that either (1) I hate bad enough or (2) is worth killing that would get me the death penalty.

We don't have the death penalty in Canada but if we did 25 years seems a little excessive to carry it out..
I just spent one half hour penning such a profound comment that William James is in the other world bowing to me now. When I hit the button to publish it, a notice informed me the page had expired.
I'm too deflated and demoralized to write it over. Just know that I contributed.
Which leads to another issue: What kind of all-fire hurry is this world in that we lose out by responding too slowly?
Think about how when you dial the phone too slowly, a recording interrupts you to let you know you've dialed wrong. If you type your 1(800) long distance account number into the phone too slowly, the system won't accept it.Etc., etc., etc.
It's enough to make one murder.

Did you hear about the last request dinner the inmate ordered for his last meal? Said he wanted an order of mushrooms. When asked if he liked mushrooms he said he didn't know. He'd always been afraid to try them until now.
haha. That was good, Cliff
anonymous--we get runned over too if we don't get through the intersection fast enough. Our lives are limited in time. Remember the Bible says "So I commended enjoyment, because a man has nothing better under the sun than to eat, drink, and be merry; for this will remain with him in his labor all the days of his life which God gives him under the sun." Eccl 8:15.
Well, you kind of see a hint here. Let it be, go your own pace if you don't want it all done. Dad
