Maybe not this cow, she's my Irish friend. Look closely, you can see my rear view mirror. I was in line, waiting for this cow and the farmer to pass.

Using modern plant-breeding methods to find new diets for cows that make them belch less is a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, scientists said on Monday.

He [Michael Abberton, a scientist at the UK-based Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research] noted the average dairy cow belches out about 100 to 200 liters of methane each day, making diet changes a key potential factor in reducing this greenhouse gas.

"There is a common misperception about how methane gets into the atmosphere," he said. "It is actually through belching rather than the other end."

Agriculture is responsible for about seven percent of UK greenhouse gas emissions and a large proportion of two of the most potent gases with 37 percent of methane and 67 percent of nitrous oxide." (Ibid, and to read the full article)

Hmm, you've at least got alternative solutions.
Most of us agree that something must be done, but I was not at all comfortable with the cilly starlet telling us how to use toilet paper to save energy.
I thank you for praying for Sigve. He's mostly in and only some hours out of hospitale for the momment.
Lie most he want to live and has a lot to live for, a wonderful wife, children, grandchildren and friends who love him dearly.
Well, you know something aboout losses. Imagine loosing both of you parents so rapidly. I must admit I have not been empathic enough when parents of my friend have died, especially when they were very old and very ill.
It hurts and changes ones life irreversably. And the aching hollowness seems to stay on for ever.
I am also sorry for the loss of your friend.
Good friends are the family we choose and cannot afford to loose.
