Six Word Saturday:

My Six Words:
It's Good To Be Home Again!!!

We've been on a 'Transatlantic' Cruise, going from NYC to London (landing at Dover, U.K.)

That was leaving home May 31 and arriving in Dover, U.K. on June 15.  It was very, very, nice.  We rode over on the Pacific Princess ship.
...
Our ports of call were Halifax, Nova Scotia (Canada), three stops in Iceland, and two more in Scotland.  Then we spend two more nights in London and went North to see a couple in Northampton who we had met on another cruise.  I will blog more about our travel in the future.

Six Word Saturday ~~ Oh Dear, Oh Dear

my Six Words:
Rabbits ate my pansies ~~ Any Suggestions?

We've only seen one rabbit, he is a pretty little fellow.  Although he doesn't seem to grow much maybe eating so good in our back yard/garden he just might grow some more.

We call it "He" and "Him" when talking about it.  But since he respects the flower diet so much I'm thinking that he might be a girl.

Pictures:

Top is a close up of the bottom one.  Evidently he likes the blooms and the buds best, then the tender leaves up on the tops. [You can click on a picture to see it bigger.]

Middle picture is a front bed.  He didn't eat these so close, some in the back he didn't touch.  Perhaps he is thinking that the LSU guy is a scare crow.

Six Word Saturday ~~ Jim's Legal Again

my Six Words:
Renewed driving license, good until 2022

Not my driving license picture, this one was taken during an 'honor Veterans breakfast' at KP's school.  No place like Texas!!

Older picture (a selfie) I wish was on my DL, I was much younger then.
Proof that I went to the DPS. I went to Huntsville, Texas, to get it done.
They are friendly down home people, possibly with
a "large print" eye test chart.  The wait there was only 20 minutes.

Six Word Saturday -- Got this e-Mail, from ... -- A joke

My six words:
Got this e-Mail this morning from (my BIL, Danny)

Note:  if you read this, you will have to highlight between the parentheses because it will make it more than six words. It will show up on my FaceBook just fine, sorry for them.

Picture credit: (was not a part of the e-mail, Google found this)

It has a joke that he sent:
.
Date: Sat Dec 27 10:43:19 CST 2014
From: "d...@gmail.com"
Add To Address Book
Subject: A sad tale of "Hooters"
To: (a bunch of us, even "Fwd'd" showing some others)

A group of softball players, all in their 40's, discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because the waitresses were young, good looking, had big breasts and wore short-shorts.

Ten years later, at age 50, the softball buddies once again discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because the food and service was good, they had many televisions to watch the games on, and the beer selection was excellent.

Ten years later, at age 60, the team again discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because there was plenty of parking, they could dine in peace, and it was good value for the money.

Ten years later, at age 70, they discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because the restaurant was wheelchair accessible and had a toilet for the disabled.

Ten years later, at age 80, the friends discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because they had never been there before.

- - - - - - -

I do remember the only time that I ever was in a Hooters.  I was "chaperoning" my BIL's son when he wanted to buy himself a T-shirt. No problems.

One other encounter was when I was doing hand/finger therapy after my fall in Ireland (link).  Two Hooters Girls came in with four large paper sacks.  They left two at the facility saying, "Don't forget, we are just around the corner."  I was sitting in the lobby then waiting for my appointment.  Before I left we all devoured most all of the wings they had left us.

Six Word Saturday ~~ What to do?

My Six Words:
Sold out, no twenty-eight cent lunch

After the dentist a couple of weeks ago I stopped at the grocery store.  I had a tooth pulled and the dentist recommended I have soup and soft food like Jell-O (which I do not like, eating cow hooves).

My dentist is in Huntsville, Texas, a smallish college town, home of Sam Houston State University   (Google Link)  That pretty well explains why the store shelves were empty.

I love the stuff, I didn't show the sodium content, it runs HIGH.

BTW, I was talking with a former widower tonight who had remarried.  Seems as though kids take a while getting used to Dad being remarried.  I told him to tell them that he had to hurry while he still had most of his teeth left.

Six Word Saturday ~~ Katrin, our 14-year-old poodle

my six words:
Katrin, our toy poodle died Tuesday

She died in her doctor's office of heart failure.  We loved Katrin so very much, Mrs. Jim had "rescued" her from a dying friend.

At left is Katrin last year on her 13th July birthday walking across the back porch to our back door.
On the right is a very guilty dog back in 2008 when we first got her.  She had gotten into BP's toothpaste.  See this link:

Six Word Saturday -- A wedding

my Six Words:
My friends got married last night

My wish and prayer for them is for a long and happy marriage.  Great start, guys!

Jack and Mary tied the knot last night.  They were widow and widower. While married
before the two couples were friends.  Makes sense to me.
Jack has been my friend for fifteen years.

They are Mrs. Jim's and my ages.  He is part of a year older than I am.
Women don't have to talk about their ages, Mary and Mrs. Jim are ...

We had a potluck supper at our church after the ceremony.

Update on Mrs. Jim:
1.  She is recuperating nicely, seven (7) weeks after her fall and subsequent partial hip replacement surgery.  She is ready to drive but her ortho doctor said 12 weeks is the norm.  They bargained for nine (9) weeks IF she had good balance without aid of the cane.  She should of course carry and use her cane until 12 weeks.  NO GOLF until Spring.

2.  I have postponed her annual performance evaluation for six months, now overdue, as she really hasn't been too very good at things requiring physical activity since the accident.

Six Word Saturday -- Lost things return

my Six Words:
Lost my billfold for a week

There was a knock on our front door.  I opened it to three thugs and two seedy looking women.  Uh oh.

or this

I found it Thursday morning at the front of my dresser drawer, standing against the front piece.  I had been calling the credit card people to get latest charges,  and I had made every one (Mrs. Jim doesn't go shopping yet as she isn't fully recovered.  And she can't drive for another three weeks).

Katrin has nothing to do with my billfold except I found this picture of her looking sad.  I was beginning to get sad after the sixth day when I finished looking in the last place I should look.

Six Word Saturday

my Six Words:
Home from Hospital and Rehab Facility

Two weeks ago Mrs. Jim fell and broke her hip.  After a partial hip joint transplant (new ball installed in the socket) the following Monday and being transferred to a rehab center Thursday she was released yesterday to come home.  There will be out patient rehab next, starting Monday.

How did it happen?  She fell while going through a rail type fence because her left foot tripped on the lower board.  That happened in Trinity, Texas and we had to get her to our St. Luke's hospital in the Woodlands for the surgery of her choice.

Above is one of the many visitors Mrs. Jim had.  [You can click on the picture for a larger sized view].  This friend, Lynn, brought her Mike the Tiger from Baton Rouge.  Mike is the escort of Mrs. Jim's college, LSU.  They have an excellent football team.

Here is Mike standing guard by the flowers that our daughter, Karen, sent.

And outside Mrs. Jim's window, "Life goes on."

Six Word Satrurday (another Jim Bunch Eats)

my Six Words:
Grandparents Day lunch was big hit

[click on picture for larger size]

We had lunch with our youngest grandchild this year at her school.  KP is in American (Texas) Kindergarten this year.  And of course she is the smartest kid there.  The lunch was good too, Asian sweet n sour chicken with rice, then green peas for another vegetable, cold tea (KP had chocolate milk), and apples for desert (KP had a banana).

Six Word Saturday -- The Strange Little Girl

my Six Words:
Not knowing what bugs me. You?

Hint:  I don't know what it is nor where it came from. I only know there was a bunch of rubber-like bumps on both sides of the hard white plastic body.

That reminds me of "The Strange Little Girl" song of the 50's (1951)(Composer(s): Jerry Ross - Richard Adler).  That song, the first verse, is strangely embedded in my brain.
It was sung by Cowboy Copas.  He died March 5, 1963 in the 1963 plane crash that also killed country stars Patsy Cline and Hawkshaw Hawkins. He was a member of the Grand Ole Opry. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cowboy_Copas )

You can read the words below.

I am linked today with Cate at Six Word Saturday headquarters (link)

Now, my song remembered:

"The Strange Little Girl"

Now, I don't know who she was
And I don't know where she came from
I only know there was an angel glow
In the eyes of the strange little girl

My sweetheart and I had a quarrel
I was troubled as a body can get
So, I put on my coat and walked out into the night
When a strange little girl I met

Now, I don't know who she was
And I don't know where she came from
I only know there was an angel glow
In the eyes of the strange little girl

She told me she knew of our quarrels
And I listened as she softly spoke on
She said, true love is rare
So don't lose the love you share
And before I could speak, she was gone

Now, I don't know who she was
And I don't know where she came from
I only know there was an angel glow
In the eyes of the strange little girl

Ran back to the home of my sweetheart
And I told her of the girl I did see
She said, darling I prayed you'd forgive me and return
For the same little girl came to me

Now, I don't know who she was
And I don't know where she came from
I only know there was an angel glow
In the eyes of the strange little girl
I only know there was an angel glow
In the eyes of the strange little girl
