The Letter "U" ~~ Weekend Roundup and Reflections

BABY GIRL !!!
Our oldest great granddaughter was due to have us
a new Baby Girl Great Great-granddaughter last week. That happened Thursday night.

The twenty-first issue of Weekend Roundup for this year, 2020...

(THE TWENT-IFIRST LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)
- the Letter "U" Prompts are:
(A) Starts with the Letter "U";
(B) "Under" (Tom's choice);
(C) A Favorite; and
(D) Reflections.

(B) "Under" (Tom's choice):   Under the Bridge in Sydney, Australia on our Ferry Ride.   For most of my posts about Sydney and our January 2014 visit, click here

We had a pleasant ferry ride (Sidney Ferries) around the Harbor on the Inner Harbour Ferry.  It left the Circular Quay and sailed over to the Australian National Maritime Museum.  I liked going under the Harbour Bridge.  You can see the Sydney Opera House in the background.
We rode the train over and back across that bridge, we took the ferry to Manly Beach for a morning, we rode the tram to the Harbor Fish Market, and took the bus to Bondi Beach for our major rides.  There were many more as Sydney has a wonderful public transportation system.  Since Mrs. Jim and I were seniors our all day tickets to all modes, even the ferry and the train, were $2.50 AUS each day.

(A) Starts with the Letter "U":  Unknown starts with "U".  This soup was good, great, as it is homemade by Mrs. Jim. but I don't know what kind it was.  Nor do I know the fried stuff on the left.
I will let you guess what kind of goodies we ate?
(highlight the blank area below for the correct answers)

(Oops, Mrs. Jim said it was part of our lunch
at Suzie Wong's on a Sunday after church.
It was really good, Hot and Sour soup.
The other was part of our lunch, neither
of us knew what it was, just Chinese.)

(C) A Favorite:  Again we will let the age of the fellow on the left, me, be Unknown.  The cake is chocolate, my favorite kind.  We were celebrating at an Unknown restaurant.

(D) ReflectionsUphill pitch.  The green on this hole was very steep and the ball didn't want to stay high.  Site was the Wedgewood Public Golf Course, Conroe, Texas, now closed.  Conroe is just north of Houston, where the little hills start.  This was my Favorite public course to play.

My Two Questions (you can answer just one if you wish):

(1) What comes to mind when you think of "Under"? I think of my dictionary that I hardly use anymore.  It is an "Under the Bridge with Dick and Harry", 1970's edition.

(2) When was the last Birthday that you celebrated?  Our oldest great granddaughter was due to have us a new Baby Girl Great Greatgranddaughter last week. That happened just during the night now.  6.8 pound BABY GIRL.

Bonus Questions:

(1) What is your favorite "U" word? This time it will be Undecided.  That is my official political viewpoint for poles but I'd rather call it Independent.  I keep my blogs free of political talk, this is the closest I've come in the 15 years I've blogged.   If there is a political comment I quickly remove it and slap the wrist of whoever left it.)

(2) When did you last play a sport?   I have not played Golf for about seven years.  My artificial knee joint gave me fits after playing and lasted a day and a half after.  But I may learn to play "Old Men Golf" this year.  Walking is my only sport at the moment.

Comments:
(1) What comes to mind when you think of "Under"? Under the weather is the first thing I thought, but your down under is more fun.
(2) When was the last Birthday that you celebrated? Gosh, I can't remember that last time. It's been years and years.

Bonus Questions:

(1) What is your favorite "U" word? Understanding. It's so important to be understanding.
(2) When did you last play a sport? In high school. I was on the track team. Loved volleyball and tennis too.

Have a fabulous day, Jim. 😎

I always like or dream of being on water - I never am.
That soup and ?? - you are braver than me - I think the stuff on the right is some sort of fried fish? lol
My favorite U word - underdog - I always fight for the underdog.

Great Great Grandparents! Incredible!

We did Sydney in 2016, I would love to do Australia again.

...that's great, great news!!
...UNKNOWN is appropriate during these times.
...the opera house looks wonderful from UNDER the bridge.
...UNKNOWN seems to a theme here!
Thanks Jim for joining in, take care.

I recognized the famous Sidney Opera House - looks really extravagant. Congratulations for the baby girl - what a joy! Walking and digging in the garden are the sports here :)

Lovely to see the Sydney HArbour bridge adn opera House again Jim I loved being in Sydney, probably one of my favourite cities. UNDER the bedclothes. UPLIFTED is a food and positive word. Badminton 3 years ago and of course although I do not think walking is a sport, I do that daily. Congratulation on the arrival of the baby girl. Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend.

Nice picture under the bridge. Certainly leaves no question about where you were. I'm not a fan of Chinese food, so don't know the names of the soup and thing beside it, but I'm guessing it is Chinese. When I think of under, I go back to my childhood and remember how much I worried about what was UNDER the bed at night. My favorite U word would be Ukulele. My granddaughter plays it beautifully while she sings. Have a great week!

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is so iconic - the bridge and opera house are symbols of Sydney known the world over! The soup looks great, no matter what it may be - it looks delicious so that's good enough for me!
