Letter "T" --- Friday's Weekend Roundup 10 / Reflections and-or Street/Candid Captures

All these start with "T"???
A hint: Besides "Terrific" though they are.
The couple you see in these pictures were our Texas
next-door neighbor until they moved to Colorado.
First we went to Mountain Village where we parked our car. Then we would have lunch at the Peaks Resort & Golden Door Spa, Hotel Telluride. Below is the outdoor patio eating area, as we had Luke with us this day, we would go to the patio for eating.
Lunch was excellent, every one of us had different orders.
Mine was the best! But now I couldn't take bites or chew
it up. Take care of your teeth!! I did but I have outlived
my uppers.
Our drinks were Arnold Palmers and water.
The Arnold Palmer is becoming quite popular,
it consists of unsweetened ice tea and lemonade,
half and half.
Luke would be good in France. He just stayed nearby
or under the table while we ate.
That wouldn't work right now for Adi and Katrin,
they stand looking at us with big eyes and drooling!
Isn't the view from our table fabulous!
Next summer we might bring golf clubs.

Mrs. Jim caught the first car, but they wouldn't let dogs on this one.
She was waiting for us on a bench when we got to the top.
At the top, we entered another cable lift to go down
to Telluride at the bottom on the other side of the mountain.

looking back over Mountain Village where we departed.

A Favorite: The view down and out was my Favorite scenery there around Telluride.
Tom's suggestion, "Terrific": Luke was a Terric dog but was a little apprehensive going up the mountain side in the cable car.

James' request, Street Photos/Candid Captures: The street in Sorento, Italy. There are a lot of Motor Scooters in Italy with it's cooperative warm winter weather.

Letter "K" --- Friday's Weekend Roundup 10 / Reflections and-or Street/Candid Captures

Starts with "K": "Key" starts with "K". Key is a very hard worker, not only as the unlocking of doors type but rather in Metaphor. Key to my heart, key words, key man, etc. most any place where importance in the task is necessary.
In my picture of the right (side of the fireplace) bookcase is shown two "Keys to Understanding the Message of the Bible." The bottom Nativity wooden set we purchased in Bethlehem, Isarael. It shows the birth of Jesus Christ with the Angel standing by. There is a family story behind each of the three pieces here, the Globe, the Angel, and the Nativity.

Above, the next shelf up this set of books comprise a set of New Testament commentaries by William Barkley. We bought those when we were selling Christian books, mainly we had out of spinner wracks in grocery stores. We had a 'distributor' franchise to do that, it also had a multilevel marketing set up but we had no others, just Mrs. Jim and me.

Tom's suggestion, "Kooky": Luke, our former neighbor dog was glad to see us. Doesn't Luke look sad to see us leave? Kooky? He is a nice dog, he minds sooo good.
Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures: Another "Dog Day in Telluride" photo. Telluride, Colorado is about thirty minutes hour away from our friends' ranch.
.[Click picture for larger sized viewing]A Lagniappe: We spent the afternoon here, Lake Maggiore at Stresa, Italy (for last week's letter), the mountains across the lake are in Switzerland. We haven't been to any of the five countries beginning with "K", Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kiribati, Kosovo, and Kuwait and probably won't.

U.S. Air Force Acadamy Cadet Chapel — MidWeek Blues —

Above, to the left of the tree in the center is the U.S. Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel. I had thought I had taken a picture as we walked up to it but my "smart camera" must have decided not to keep it. What you see is cropped from the one to the right.
The Chapel was completed in 1962. (Wikipedia link) It measures 150 feet high, 280 feet long, and 84 feet wide. That is just a few feet smaller than an American football field (300 feet long).
There are three floors which are used for worship. The first floor raised about 20 feet is used for the Protestants, the second lowered about 20 feet is for the Catholics, and the third lower floor has a Jewish Synagogue and several All-faiths rooms.
I am only posting pictures of the Protestant Chapel tonight. Partly that is because this is a MidWeek Blues post and those other too floors aren't showing nearly as much blue.The Air Force does like blue, their uniforms are blue. Until the Air Force became its own entity it was a part of the Army, the U.S. Army Air Corps. A little after the change they had new uniforms designed. When I was in the University of Nebraska R.O.T.C. we had blue uniforms but the shoes they issued us were brown. They also issued us a bottle black dye so we could dye our shoes to the new black color.
The picture on the left shows the front of the Protestant chapel. Mrs. Jim is walking down the center isle and the pulpit and alter area is at the very end. Each bench seat is capped with a piece of polished aluminum.
On the right is a couple of the stained glass windows. The picture on the right was taken when Mrs. Jim was walking back out, to the rear. Above the back door is the organ. It was made, in America, especially for this chapel.
In case you are wondering, the Academy has had most all of the faiths of the world studying here. The floor location, top, middle, or lower was selected by the numerical number of students at the academy, with the Protestants having the most, followed by the Catholics and then the Jewish.

Our get-away — Six Word Saturday —

My six words:
Colorado was very pretty last week
The week of September 25 Mrs. Jim and I stayed at the Glen Eyrie Conference Center in Colorado Springs with a group from our Church. If everyone was in the picture except me then there were 27 of us attending. Each morning we had a speaker followed by a Bible study by our pastor from the book of James.
The middle Garden of the Gods (adjacent to Glen Eyrie) picture above shows Balancing Rock on the right and Steamboat Rock on the left.
Colorado temperature with highs in the mid 70s was a welcome relief from our high 90s we were having around here. One day there the temp reached 81°F but that did not seem hot.
Our afternoon activities consisted of a nice visit to the Air Force Academy and especially its beautiful Air Force Academy Chapel, the U.S. Olympic training facility, Old Town Colorado City, a look down from the mountain of the town of Cripple Creek, and a visit with lunch at Mueller State Park.
