Letter "H" -- Friday's Weekend Roundup 12 and Reflections and/or Street/Candid Captures
This Week's Prompts: Starts with "H." A Favorite.
For James, Reflections and/or Street/Candid Captures: I couldn't resist taking this shot of a couple of ducks. Wonder what's on their minds and what is transpiring here? This was on my 30 minutes a day walk, two blocks here from our house.

Starts with "H": It will be the word, Heaven. When Heaven calls, I will go. Our Sunday morning Bible class now has over 150 members. In that class five of us have had a loose group with our ages of having reached a magic number 90.
This week Larry, the oldest, birthday in March, was called to Heaven before he could reach 91. His service was led by Charles, one of our class teachers. Larry had asked Charles to speak of the Lord's Prayer and to be specific on the relation of us to the Lord's kingdom coming and of the praise of God in that prayer. I am writing Chapter 16 first. . .
The above is an excerpt from Chapter 16 written as a teaser for the book, a previous blog post on that I had written on January 6, 2006. I haven't made much progress on the book yet, I am waiting until we sell this large house and move into a Senior Living Place. My readers then seemed to think it would be a great idea. For Tom's choice, "Help": This is Mrs. Jim with our daughter and granddaughter, three generations. Mrs. Jim is a very giving and concerned lady, I have given her a middle name, Help.
An example, yesterday Mrs. Jim accompanied me to a visit with my Podiatrist about a sixth toenail growing on my big toe, left foot. Numerous times she would get up and open the door for someone in a wheelchair coming or leaving. A big help to them, even when some were being pushed by someone.
Oh yes, seven years later now, the granddaughter is a freshman in high school. Also, we have moved close to them, a ten-minute walk away. And the doctor cut out the toenail our although it will grow back again (no picture here, I forgot to take one).
Also note that this shows that many of our trees stay green all winter. That is a pedestrian bridge in the back, to cross the little stream.

Starts with "W": Wagons, from horse and human drawn to station wagon automobiles have been a part of humans' culture and convenience. Did you ever wonder about the now forgotten inventor of the wheel?
A Favorite: This year's NYC annual Rockefeller Plaza Christmas Tree is a favorite mine and many others. An average of 800 thousand persons will be viewing it each day until after Christmas. You've just now virtually joined the crowd.
Tom's suggestion, "White": Pure Snow is White. It lays on the ground and other flat surfaces. Humans and animal are the worst offenders to change its pearly color, generally to shares of yellow and gray.
Both children and adults stop for their imaginations' workouts.

The Letter "S" ~~ Weekend Roundup and Reflections
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
The nineteenth issue of Weekend Roundup for this year, 2020...

(A) Starts with the Letter "S": "Starting Line" starts with "S". These small toy cars that I keep on my dresser are ready to Start their race.
After three semesters at the University of Nebraska I dropped out and got a job at the Elgin Watch Factory in Lincoln, Nebraska. One of our quality control inspectors, Bill Robinson, drove a race car on our dirt car track out at edge of town. I was invited to join his racing crew.

We quit racing the car when our sponsor would not finance a new engine as we had thrown a piston through the cylinder wall. We sleeved the cylinder and Bill used it in a pristine 1940 Ford Coupe street car. We did get another sponsor to finance a 1937 Chevy for us.

(B) "Straight" (Tom's choice): "Straight from the Horses Mouth", the Bible verse on this May calendar I dug out yesterday. It echoed our last Sunday's sermon on "The Good Shepherd" from John 10.
At verse 11 it says "The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." Our minister told us (via the streaming video in the living room) that in the fields where the shelters are very primitive and the Shepherd sleeps laying in the doorway so he knows when someone or someone tries to enter or leave.
Hearing that from both the calendar and the preacher tells me there is a message there that I should heed. This Mother's Day weekend's message will be given by a lady at online, Saturday at 6PM or Sunday at 9:30 or 11:00AM Central Daylight Time.
The calendar picture is at "Shepherds' Field outside Bethlehem, Israel." (googled link for more pictures). The trees are olive trees, some are very old. The calendar is from "Open Windows".
(D) Reflections: Another walk picture Reflection. We are starting these neighborhood walks now earlier in the morning or after the sun goes down. Temps are getting in to the nineties F.
(E) Lagnappe for you. On my "Christmas Tree Farm" blog I have two links posted for Corona Virus 19, one for international countries and one for the states' statistical numbers. Our Texas numbers are increasing faster and faster but we are open. Go figure.

My Two Questions (you can answer just one if you wish):
(1) What comes to mind when you think of "Straight"? I think of a large Straight edge drafting ruler that I have tucked away someplace.
(2) What is an exciting thing you have done lately or some other time in your life? Loosing my wallet in Egypt. I walked through the shipyard to where our bus stopped and found it in the seat I had been sitting in. A police car stopped me and the officers questioned me, then they took me back to our ship.
Bonus Questions:
(1) What is your favorite "S" word? This time it will be "Sailor" When I was young I always wanted to be a Sailor. Towards the end a work life I dreamed of living on a Tug Boat and working it for several more years. In the dream my sister would buy in and also her and SIL would live there too. Now I know a Tug Boat Captain, she is one of the few lady tug boat drivers and is one of my Facebook friends. One of our two Sunday School teacher's father was a tug boat and he sometimes relates to incidents of that life during his lesson.
(2) Do you have any posted Reflection pictures of areas where you use for taking walks? I have pictures of ours posted here Quite Often. We have pretty places to walk.

The Letter "D" ~~ Weekend Roundup and Reflections
The 30th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year... (THE FOURTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)
- the Letter "D" Prompts are:
(A) Starts with the Letter "D"; (B) A Favorite; (C) "D" for Dark (Tom's choice); and (D) Reflection(s).
(A) Starts with the Letter "D": "Dried Fruit" starts with "D". Here is KP one more time doing the YMCA song letter for "D". We were at The Sprouts Grocery Store and they have about the best Bulk Dried Fruit, and also their Candied Fruit is super. I like Dark Chocolate Covered Dried Cranberries best.
I have hopes for her to lend us her hands for more. If you'd like you could give her a hand of encouragement, perhaps she will.
AND I'd appreciate if you would suggest an "E" fruit besides the "Eggplants" that came to my mind, but which KP thinks are GROSS..
(B) A Favorite: Probably the bottom boat picture is MY Favorite, but these are all Favorites for this week. They were taken at our church in our VBS (Vacation Bible School) Classroom where we had 49 third grade students. We had eight (8) third grade classes, most had a similar or larger number of kids.
(C) "D" for Dark (Tom's choice): Here at right is the picture of THE INTERNATIONAL DATELINE that I took from the flight attendants' window on our way home from Sydney, Australia. It was at night, Dark, and my camera did not pick up a good photo. (Read more here...) (Oh yes, the attendants had the exact time that we would be crossing so finding it was now problem, right below. Dah.)
(D) Reflection(s): This is in the Foyer/Atrium of our church, Second Baptist Church Houston, 1463 Campus (# 6 of Seven).

1. Did you attend VBS when you were small?
I did not. I think we did not go to church or Sunday School until I was finished with 5th grade.

2. What favorite fruit or vegetable would you like for me to photograph, with price showing I hope? You can tell me anytime, I will line them up.
Unless I change, My favorite will be Rhubarb. Best in pie, sauce, or jams.

home with them. The small boat pulls us workers, seven adults and two
high school students (boys). Amongst other duties, I was class photographer.
Again this year, Captain Longbeard was leader for the school.

Crossing the International Date Line during our flight was going to be a big thing for me but I can say it was like the song, "Is that all there is to love," sung by .
I was able to take a picture out the cabin attendants' window of that line. Unfortunately it was dark outside so the picture leaves a lot to the imagination. I will enjoy reading about your kind feelings towards these words.

The Letter "X" ~~ Weekend Roundup and Reflections

Houston, TeXas, has tall buildings
We are the 4th largest city in the U.S.

(B) A Favorite: I love the TeXas Blue Sky

(C) "X" is a tough one: Our TeXas tough-sized Sunday Bible Study Class. It is labeled, "Over Age 65" and as you see most of us are. We have 168 members, 94 Women and 74 Men. We also carry 31 visitors who visited us in 2019. Class attendance runs just over 100 most Sunday mornings. Our church is the Second Baptist Church of Houston, 1463 Campus (link). Please visit us when you are in town. Also note, Mrs. Jim and I are NOT in this picture as we were making some arrangements inside the classroom, which is directly behind this wall.
(D) Reflection(s): TeXas Restroom Mirrors -- This was taken at the Men's Room at a TeXas doctor's office. It's a little bit of a Selfie too, that is my hand and camera at the right.
The Mirror looks out through the window to the backs of some commercial buildings facing the other street. The Ladies' room has no windows. Pour souls.
I rate this Rest Room as a Four out of Five possible score. It was very clean, mostly 'No Touch' equipment, but the sink's faucets are a Glaring cut, requiring hands to manipulate the water functions.

Letter "R" ~~ Weekend Roundup (watch for Rabbits)
A lady opened her refrigerator and saw this rabbit sitting on one of the shelves.
"What are you doing in there?" she asked.
The rabbit replied:
"This is a Westinghouse, isn't it?"
The lady replied "Yes it is."
"Well," the rabbit said,
"I'm westing."
"I hope you had a Happy
and Hoppy Easter!"

(A) Starts with "R": Rabbit starts with "R". I hop(e) you liked the cartoon and joke that Warren sent me. All the way from Australia.
(B) A Favorite: For this year this was my Favorite Rabbit Picture. It was on some Easter napkins that Mrs. Jim used with our outdoor pool party that I showed last week.
(C) Red: Lots of Red Balloons at this picture taking station. It was in the lobby of our church for Easter. Some orange and purple ones too.
(D) Reflection(s): At Auckland, New Zealand, all kinds of Reflections of other buildings on the sides of these buildings above. The tallest building at the right of the picture is showing a reflection of the tower to the right and below here.
I hadn't noticed the person walking on the other side of the bridge from us. For sure her or his reflection is not that of Santa in the middle of the picture.
