CARS TO GO # 001

1. Heard the other day from the NASCAR announcer:
"Dale Earnhardt, Jr, got/received a minor penalty for speeding." Dah.

2. First Cars for the family members (this is to be continued):

A slug-bug at that!

My first car picture -- 1950 Studebaker

The 1956 Ford car above was my third car, mine was light green and white. Be sure to check the large size picture --> [
large picture] [supersize] for a surprise! Link for more about my 1956 Ford Sunliner, click here.

3. Per Jeff Millar (co-author of Tank McNamara (see it link) comic strip-Wikipedia article):
"If you have a land choice, never get behind a Lincoln Town Car"
I wonder why?

4. I would like input on your first car or other car items in your life. Thanks.

My first slotcar racer was a pretty lame job. Looked pretty and drifted right.

Hey Jim... I remember building one of these with my son (a few decades ago) It wasn't very fast, but it won for best PAINT JOB and he loved it... so I guess it worked out fine! ~ jb///
P.S. I'm looking forward to meeting you at BlogStock'08!

jim, you really do have to go to my grandson's blog...go to putz and then hit brayden's blog on the side bar, why????he won, every one he won ,every race with a pinewood derby car that looks exactly like the one in your opening car blog...follow that?

Cool picture!! It took me awhile but I finally found the surprise!!

I never had one of these, but my first car that I ever owned was a red 1964 Ford Mustang. I gave $400 for it. Wish I still had it!

Oh, Jim, my beloved first car was a gold Pinto with black painted detailing. I named her Mona, and she served me well.
I hit a parked car once, and then left he scene of the accident. I got down the road, pulled over to a phone booth, and called my mom. She commanded me to return to the scene. It happened right outside of an El Taco restaurant. I went inside to report what I'd done, and they said the owner of the car did not care one bit about it because his car was a clunker.
Whew!! Mona was goood luck for me!!

Pine Derby cars are sad memories for us. My son had a great car and ended up losing because some kids cheated on the rules. He was so forlorn. I have a photo of him looking terribly dejected. It still makes me sad to look at that photo.
:-(

Just a quick clarification:

My parents live in CA, but they own a home in AR.
The view is from their back yard here in AR.
I added another sentence to my post to clarify this.
None of us are from AR, but my dad was born in MO.

1951 Ford convertible that I bought from my brother. I wish I still had it.

Corection: Susie's first car was a 1964 Malibu.

I enlarged the picture of the calender and never did see a car in the picture.
My first car was a 1950 Studebaker Champion. Black. A former cornpicker I think.

My father had a Bug that was like a Flintstone car with a hole in the floorboard under the driver's seat.
