I write for my readers more than for myself. 
For this reason, I still do the alphabet, but I'm thinking not after we reach the letter "Z" here.  

Most of the four or so that respond to Tom don't return my comment left after reading theirs.  I like comments from them.  As I write this on Sunday night there have been NO COMMENTS left here on this blog for the last two weeks.  

But most of my faithful readers are friends and relatives of whom I don't expect comments, not many at least.  That said, I intend to keep on writing on weekends, kind of a report on the things that our family and I are doing.  I THANK YOU VERY MUCH, you friends and relatives.  

And Tom, I thank you very much too for supporting us faithful ones who respond.  I may switch to another of your blogs.

Letter "M" -- Friday's Weekend Roundup 12 and Reflections and/or Street/Candid Captures

Letter "M" - This Week's Prompts: Starts with "M." A Favorite. For Tom, "M"ild". For James, Reflections and/or Street/Candid Captures.

Starts with "M":   Milk is my "M" word for this go round.  This picture is a Brown Swiss Milk Cow with the same features as my FFA, Future Farmers of America, project for my junior and senior Ag activity and class.

We took her home from a calf auction when she was small, just a few months old.  That was for my sophomore year, I fed and cared for her, she was a pretty young heifer at summer break time. By graduation time next spring she was a good Milk Cow.  We separated her from her little calf the day it was born, and she joined our small Milk Herd.  

All school FFA animals at our school must have been named.  Guess the name I gave the calf.  Now highlight the next blank space to see if you guessed right.

I named her "Brownie".

The cream we separated away from the Milk and sold it to the local creamery.  My cow's Milk was rich with cream. 



A Favorite:   Monster Jam (we didn't get to see)

Letter "K" -- Friday's Weekend Roundup 12 and Reflections and/or Street/Candid Captures

Letter "J" - This Week's Prompts: Starts with "K." A Favorite. 
For Tom, "K"ing".

Starts with "K":   These cute little Kids were on TV, likely an article on the Today show of NBC stations.  But I am not sure, only sure that the picture is of the TV screen, as is the one below.  

Little Kids are always cute, older Kids are smart, and older kids are smart alics for a while.  But at any age our kids are generally the most precious part of our lives.  We have five kids, all grown with jobs or retired already.


 
For Tom, "King":  The lady with these children is Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales.  She is Prince William's wife.  William is next in line for King of England.  

A Favorite:  The Royal family is one of Mrs. Jim's Favorite history in making item.  She knows lineage of the past royalties and who marries to who.  We have been to the Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the King and Queen.  We have been to several of the ten royal palaces in London during our many visits there, over a dozen times.  https://www.londonhut.com/p/10-royal-palaces-of-london


  This is the Japanese Garden at Powers Court, Ireland.

Steps to the garden were the ones that I fell on and broke my kneecap.  I also was bloody from head to toe.  I learned that that the ER, hospitals in Ireland, are free for seniors over 70.

Letter "Z" ~~ Friday's Weekend Roundup 10 / Reflections and-or Street/Candid Captures

 - Tom's prompt this week Prompts A word that has a "Z." A Favorite. Looks like "Z." 
 - James' request, "Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures."

Starts with the Letter "Z":  Zebra starts with the letter "Z" as the first letter.  We saw these in South Africa at a game preserve southeast of Cape Town.  (Note:  this picture was also my "Z" word for June, 2020.  I just wanted to show them off again here.)

A word that has a "Z":  For sure the word ZigZag, it has two "Z's".  See a ZigZag Fence below.


Looks like "Z": Roger, our Colorado host, asked me to take a picture of his 'worm fence.' Worm fence posts are not anchored in the ground. Instead, the design of the fence with it zigzag pattern holds itself up. Also, there are no nails or bolts used. Drilling into the rocky soil for fence posts can be done but it is really hard on the equipment. And because the rocks must be dodged, the fence won't be straight anyway. 

 

A Favorite : Too bad I didn't find his dog's picture for the letter "X" week, it has "X's" pictures of the porch railing support all over.

                           

James' request, "Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures":  Sleeping Dog and Sleeping Girl, on the Gatwick Express Train from London to the Gatwick Airport.  These two small travelers needed a nap..

Letter "R" -- Weekend Roundup and Street/Reflections

These two pictures are what I call "Railroad Box Car Art" although to some it is just plain (malicious??) graffiti.  I noticed them as the train passed at the crossing where I was waiting to cross.  I was very pleased with my stop.

 "It can't get much better than this

I was awakened this morning, Saturday, at 7:05. That doesn't sound good, but it was.

Mrs. Jim and Adi had brought me coffee and the paper and now both were sitting beside me on the bed.

Now she had gone to a luncheon, The Jingle Bell Brunch, with her fellow golfers. I get used to her going as she a very busy person, she:
golfs a couple of times a week-Tuesdays and Fridays-with the ladies and sometimes a third with me;
takes care of her 88 year old Mother who lives by herself in her apartment at Conroe, Texas-generally helping on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday;
is secretary for her garden club-sends out meeting notices, arranges for speakers, etc.;
now is also "Gourmet Dining" chairperson for the Bentwater Ladies Organization;
plays the viola in our church orchestra every other Sunday-which means practice Wednesdays. Also she is the orchestra music librarian and copies music for the players, which takes four or six hours each week;
plays bridge every other Monday;
attends Bible study Monday evenings-it has homework-they do Beth Moore studies; and
in the past here has been president of the nine hole golf ladies organization, group leader, benevolence leader in our Sunday school class, been on the personnel committee at church, and on and on.

Those are the things she does without me. Meeting people and helping are two of her favorite things to do. She is a social worker (LSU MSW), retired now. We do a lot of things together, our favorite is probably traveling. I would have loved to have gone to London again this time but it was a 'girl thing' for Mrs. Jim and our daughter.

Mrs. Jim just got back from the brunch. She has another $60 winnings from golf to add to the $73.25 she has already. She has to spend the 73 by December 31, all at the pro shop.

Got to go now. Have made a tee time, 11:00, for next Friday. There are more calls to make too, one very important for our Spring travel to Sicily and more. (C) A Favorite:  Ready for work.  Adi and Mrs. Jim were a Registered Pet Therapy Team and so were Adi and I.  Our first assignments were a girl and a boy, to tutor them in Reading Skills so that they could pass into the Seventh Grade.   The boy I had would sprawl on the floor, stomach down, as would Adi.  The boy held his book in one hand and the other arm was around Adi.  Both of them passed their tests.  And Adi became a Reading Dog.

The Letter "Z" -- Weekend Roundup and Reflections
The twenty-sixth issue of Weekend Roundup for this year, 2020...
(THE TWENT-SIXTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)

(A) Contains the Letter "Z":  Zebra has the letter "Z" as the first letter.  We saw these in South Africa at a game preserve southeast of Cape Town.



(B) "My Choice":  My youngest great-granddaughter and me on Father's Day 2020.  

One daughter and two sons, a daughter-in-law, two granddaughters and hubbies, three greatgrandchildren, and two great-greatgrandchildren were there.  Plus Mrs. Jim and other friends.  I believe that count is correct. 
(C) A Favorite:  Bees go BUZZZZ.  On Father's Day afternoon   my youngest Granddaughter and the younger Daughter, dropped in with a present for me. 

The Two cards and Five cans of Wasp Spray.  The spray was an inside joke of which I had forgotten the set up
  
A couple of weeks ago we were sitting around the poolside (pictured last week) table when our granddaughter noticed a wasp flying around and attempting to get inside the back wall of our house.  Mrs. Jim went quickly inside and came running out with my precious flying insect spray can.  She did not kill the wasp but rather sprayed the wall crack and surrounding wall and a broken piece of furniture.   

 I would have used a can of regular insect spray as the flying insect spray can had only about a third left.


(D) Reflections:  Taken from The Backwaters off the coast of Southeast India, near Co Chin.

My Two Questions (you can answer just one if you wish):

 (1)  If you are a parent or grandparent how were you recognized for Mother's Day or Father's Day this year? My post with JE photo here pretty well explains mine for this year.  Not all the kids and grandkids could come to this celebration, our younger daughter and youngest granddaughter brought my bug spray present the day before.  They spent Father's Day with their other grandfather in East Texas this year.  All five of the kids got in touch by phone also.
  (2) Where and when was your last boat ride?  We were on a cruise from Dubai to Cape Town, South Africa, visiting India and several islands in the Indian Ocean along he way, as well as other various countries.  We left Dubai on December 5, 2019 and arrived in Cape Town on January 4, 2020.

 Bonus Questions:

(1) What is your favorite "Z" Word? That would be Zip, like "Zip it Up" and there is now reason for that liking. 

 (2) What if any sort of silly present did you give some one, perhaps a 'gag gift'?   I am sure it was a White Elephant gift where I regift presents that I cannot use.  I justr don't have one in mind for here.

The Letter "F" ~~ Rev 04 - Weekend Roundup and Reflections


The 32nd issue of Weekend Roundup for this year... (THE SIXTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)
- the Letter "F" Prompts are:
(A) Starts with the Letter "F"; (B) A Favorite; (C) "F" for "Full" (Tom's choice); and (D) Reflections.

(A) Starts with the Letter "F": 

(1) Fruit starts with the letter "F".  This is a small Fruit plate/basket that KP served me at the Children's Museum Café (see below, Favorite). 

You are seeing two strawberries, a piece of French style Cherry Pie, and a slice of Watermelon.



(2) Figs also start with the letter "F". I like Figs raw but I like them better as a Fig Preserve that I can spread onto bakery or bread items.  

 In the picture you are seeing our daughter's appetizers of the 'perfect figs' from Central Market.  She slipped them and put them on a goat cheese bed atop thin slices German rye bread. The final touch was pour of Bonne Mamam Honey. Really good, I almost overdosed. 

 I found out forty years ago that I DO NOT have a green thumb. I planted two Fig trees, the first the Southwestern Bell installer ran over it with his tractor digger and broke it to the ground. The second little tree died of natural or unnatural causes, we did not do an autopsy.


(B) A Favorite:  Yesterday we visited the Houston Children's Museum branch at Sugar Land, Texas.  KP was hosting, Mrs. Jim had a Taco but she had brought in her own Diet Coke from MacDonald's where we had a larger lunch (an Egg McMuffin sandwich for each). 

KP is our youngest grandchild.  This is her Favorite children's museum, even over the larger Houston Children's Museum in the Museum District of Houston.  Although smaller, this one is less crowded also.

 (C) "F" for "Full" (Tom's choice):  I was an engineer with Ford Aerospace working at NASA Houston with other engineers for 17 years.

 The engineer joke says "The difference between Cowboys and Engineers is where to find the manure on their boots. The cowboys have manure on the outside, the engineers' boots are Full of it on the inside."  

 Accountants and lawyers jokes are even more stupid.


(D) Reflections:  In the picture you are seeing a Reflection of a pretty street in Bellaire,  Texas.   The business had been a barber shop and hair styling salon.   The note in the window says they will not be open for business until further notice.

My Two Questions for this week (you can answer just one if you wish):

1.  Do your grandchildren (children if you are young enough to have some smaller ones or can still remember that) like going to Museums?  My two oldest granddaughters went to Europe with us when each of them was sixteen.  Both very quickly got tired of all the Museums we would visit .

2.  What is your taste preference towards Figs?  At times they are my favorite fruit.
