Wrapped in Blue -- my Tanka Poem for Blue Monday
Something Sweet
Blue wrap--something sweet
Help yourself they're really good
More where these came from
All my sweets have blue wrappers
Gum drops Chocolates Peppermints

News today, omen -- a 4-6-4-6-6 Tanka poem -- for Josie's Two Shoes Tuesday
Read the News Today?**
Did you observe?
Bad omen? Take over?
Birds in the streets
What should be up is down
Can you see, are they armed?

I wrote this 4-6-4-6-6 Tanka for Josie Two Shoes and am linked with her here. Her
instructions, "writing themes to choose from are observe and omen" and I used both.
** Note: I am reminded of the Beatles song,
"I read the news today, oh boy"
"I read the news today, oh boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well, I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure if he was from the House of Lords
I saw a film today, oh boy
The English army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
But I just had to look, having read the book
I'd love to turn you on
Woke up, fell out of bed
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up, I noticed I was late
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
And somebody spoke and I went into a dream
Ahh, ahh, ahh
I read the news today, oh boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall
I'd love to turn you on"

A double inverse Venetian sonnet
[Re-posted from today's post on my other blog,
Jim's Little Photo and Poem Place]
.
Didya?
Ya hear, eons past,
two nuns, a priest, a gopher,
died, went to Heaven
Met St. Peter at the gate
Eighty-plus, four April Fools
Haha, folks, that's all.
Got their Obama Care. Now
deadline came and went
Double inverse Venetian
sonnet--nonesuch, April Fools!

Today my double tanka is linked with Mama Zen at the Real Toads Word Count
Mom Zee's command:
- "Today, I would like you to write a double inverse Venetian sonnet using the traditional hexatonic goatameter. Your piece must include two nuns, a priest, a gopher, and a space / time paradox. Please address either universal health care or twerking in the volta . . . in 37 words or less.
- April Fools!"
- I did pretty well even with the joke. My 'Word Count:' 1 (title), 24 (verse one), 20 (second verse) (thats less than 37 per tanka so it was fudged a bit for a total of 45 words)

A little Monday morning ditty
.
Border
there is a fine line
fowl nor fish neither is he
don't cross the border
lamb pork or beef we might eat
this white rat has gotta go- - - - - - - - Photo and Poem Copyright

The smile
we passed on the street
started with a little flirt
sweet gentle smile
I will always remember
my poor heart went pit-a-pat
