Starts with "H": Horse starts with "H". Most of my readers know I rode a Horse to a neighboring Country school for my first two high school years. There were three in my class, also three in the classes before and after mine.
Minnie was a nice horse, very gentle, one we'd had since I ever knew our horses. She sort of rejuvenated being around we kids. She died while I was away in college in Lincoln, the University of Nebraska.
A Favorite: Houston, the Town, third largest city in the US (some say it's fourth and Chicago should be third). This weather map for a Houston TV station on Wednesday fairly well shows the metropolitan area of Houston. It doesn't show much of Montgemery County where we lived before moving to Katy to be near our younger daughter.
2022 stats, population 2,345K, metro area 6+M, average income $84,279 (well over our retirement income), and over 400,000 illegals. City Demographics are pictured to the right.

There is another named "Houston", a large statue on I-45 North near Huntsville, Texas, north after Conroe. President Sam Houston was our first and third president of The Republic of Texas back before the United States annexed us. He also was the sixth governor of Tennessee and the seventh governor of Texas. (bing search, "Sam Houston)

A Lagniappe: A Poem for Min:
To Min; my faithful pony
Your name was Min
best horse there's ever been
(About you, Min)
Dappled white with
small spots of gray throughout
Always there for
me to pet, brush, and stroke
Min was Dad's horse
Bess, older, was for us
Soon Min grown old
became the horse for me
Rode her to school
high school three miles away
Plodged at first
I taught her to gallop
Also to jump
the puddles and ditches
Come rain and snow
was off to school we'd go
Bareback come cold
Minnie would keep me warm
New friends for her,
they, very soon she made
Other horses
in the school barn, kids too
Two girls we'd meet
at the corner waiting
Waiting for us
to come over the hill
Minnie first saw
the girls and their horses
Years quickly passed
Two in town then we're gone
Minnie retired,
soon after, pasture went
I drove to school
grades eleven and twelve
Off to college
made new friends, boys and girls
Minnie passed on
Heaven's horse now, was friend of mine
