Weekend with "K"; King, Fried Catfish, and Kopy Kat + a nice Reflection
the Letter "K". Prompts are:
(A) Starts with "K"; (B) A Favorite; (C) Kopy Kat or Kind; and (D) Reflection(s).
(A) Starts with "K": King starts with "K". The following is about a King Size plant we had in a flowerbed. I had it posted in my "Jim's little Christmas Tree place" blog.
It did have some little blue flowers but the vine was taking over the flower bed. It had to go, sorry..
(B) A Favorite: I like, almost with an infinity, old buildings and places. This one, Kings Lounge, aka Jazz Café, I found beside the LSU Hospital's outpatient building in Shreveport, Louisiana.
I had thought that after our visit we could eat seafood there. Think again. They were in the middle of an extensive remodeling project.
(C) Kopy Kat or Kind: We did get to have Fried Catfish only it was Yesterday and not Wednesday at the King Lounge a.k.a. Jazz Cafe. Instead we ate locally here in Farmerville, Louisiana. I am sure this was better Fish, FF's, Slaw, and Hushpuppies anyway.
(D) Reflection(s): King's Lounge again, this picture shows the reflections in their driveway.

Weekend Roundup -- 14-18 (for letter "N")
2. A Favorite: (One of my) favorite food is a fried catfish Louisiana style dinner.
Actually I shared my plate with Mrs. Jim. It had five pieces of fried catfish, I gave her two. By the time I decided this meal was worthy of a picture I had already eaten two.

Merry Christmas !!! ~~ Friday’s Hunt v.4.25 -- "Y" is for ...
Friday's Hunt for the week of December 22nd
1. Starts with Y; 2. tree; and 3. shadows
This time I found a Yellow Crop Dusting Airplane Picture. It was in a book at our World Market store. I always wanted to ride with a Crop Duster but never had a real chance. I suppose if I asked Cliff (Cliff Morrow's Blog--now silent in favor of Facebook) he would arrange that, or perhaps even fly me in his brothers plane.
Cliff's parents and my parents were friends even before ELECTRONICS and SOCIAL MEDIA were words. Also, Mrs. Jim flew a similar maneuvering ride in here a Yellow T3 Warbird Trainer plane (picture) over the beach at Galveston (Texas). She rode with the cockpit open and her job was to deploy the landing gear. Warbirds for you.
I did find a couple of other Yellow pictures that were in competition for this season of Yellow:
2. Tree: The large trees at the Model Railroad Exhibition at the main campus of our church. That's the Second Baptist Church of Houston, Woodway Campus. Ours 34 miles away is the 1463 Campus, located on Texas Hwy 1463 at Katy and Fulshear, Texas.
Note two girls in these pictures, KP is the youngster at the very bottom of the picture on the left. On the right this girl is hugging one of the Nutcrackers.
3. Shadows: These are NYC traffic shots, getting over to Brooklyn. We were in a van. I hadn't noticed the car shadows until I started looking for some today. Yellow vehicles too. I'm glad our trees aren't going yellow.

..........Now for more of the Lagniappe. Yellow could also be this corn tortilla taco which uses some of our surplus of frozen clams. "Y" also for Yummy !!!
Or "Y" could be for Yummy-not in this not-delicious looking stuff, formally known to the kids as 'slime'. Mrs. Jim and KP made this slime yesterday using the common liquid starch and glue and water (1/2 cup each) and food dye and sparkles recipe.
If you try to make it, add the liquid starch after mixing the water and glue. And dump into a clean bowl when it's finished.

~~ Friday’s Hunt v.2.14 -- "N" is for ...
1. Starts with "N": New and Nursery
I really don't know how many, but there were a lot. I might expand things and count best I can. Anyway there's a lot of strollers pictured on the right, empty now while the kids are in the Church Nursery.
Newest washing machine problem, these washers are exploding! Maybe you heard about them on the radio. If you have one I'd check it out. Ours was new back when but surely it has passed the test of time now.
The this summer we went to another nursery, The Antique Rose Emporium located southeast outside a bit from Brenham, Texas. We don't get there very often but do stop in when we are going through and have time.
We once, back in the 1970's, bought an antique rose. It grew nice and pretty on the south side of our garage. I have here one picture of the 12 (1st is the top one) that was from our back yard and not the Antique Rose Emporium. Answer below.
If you'd like to read more or possibly plan a visit, click here. Or come visit us and we all will go there.
Answer to my quiz, "which of the 12 pictures does not belong to the Antique Rose Emporium?": Highlight the blank area below and you'll see the answer.
It is the one immediately above on the left; this is a picture of a bottle brush bush in our back yard. To the left are three 'knock-off' rose bushes and to the right is an Oleander bus. Various ground cover items are below, on the right are more short growing rose bushes. All the roses are red and they bloom all year long.
2. Week's Favorite: Mrs. Jim and I had appointments with our cardiologist this week. My big concern was my AAA Sent Graft as I had a leak in it repaired the first of the year. A sonogram showed nothing was leaking now!! Then the usual X-ray, EKG, and Blood Tests. I expect to pass all that but haven't gotten test results back yet.
Mrs. Jim's primary concern was that no complications had come since, or before, her Branch Bunch Block was discovered last year when she had her pre-surgery checkup for bunion surgery. That was Okay but the doctor did want here to closely monitor her blood pressure. Her family history for heart problems is scary.
On the way home we stopped at the Ragin Cajun restaurant. Mrs. Jim had the
Beans and Rice plate and I had a Shrimp Po'boy with . We shared half and half. Not pictures of the food, sorry. Here is a Google link of some of the Cajun eating places in and near Houston and also recipes, etc.
3. I Made This: I had hoped to show you one of my electronic items I made, a simple Morse Code Practice Oscillator. But I couldn't find it since the move. Later. I am a Ham Radio Operator.
So here are a few food pictures I took lately of food items I made.
