Letter "Z" -- Weekend Roundup and Street/Reflections

FLASH NOOZE !!!!

(E) A Lagniappe: TODAY IS "NATIONAL BRING YOUR DOG TO WORK DAY".

The Start of Adi's meme: (written March 6, 2008)
.
Hi, my name is Adi. I am a tri color beagle with purebred lines. I am eleven, in dog years that would be about seventy-seven. My birthday is September 1, 1996. My full name given to me by Karen is Adi Jane H(xxxxxxx). [large picture] [super size]

.
Adi Beagle Dog (1996-2012).  Adi and I were a Registered Pet Therapy Team.  We visited assisted living residents and also as a Reading Dog, Adi and I helped children with their reading skills.  Adi loved both activities and could hardly wait to go to work.

Katrin was our Toy Terrier dog, she died in November, 2014.  We miss her very much also.
Mrs. Jim 'inherited' Katrin when her real mother died of cancer back in 2009.  Basically she has been a very good dog, a lot better for us than for her former owner.  Some links to visit:

Starts with "Z":   Zeugma, a.k.a. Syllepsis, starts with the "Z".  A grammar term that means omitting an implied word, a verb or noun, which the reader by the mind presumes is there.  I don't think we had this in grammar school nor in high school.  Did you?

["as seen on TV" advertisement video]

My pictorial example for ZeugmaThey were all seated at the table and began eating, and the dog. [what was the dog doing, it also was at the table eating.]

A FavoritePets will be my favorite today.  This posting may be going to the dogs anyway.

Tom's  choice,  "ZZZ":  "ZZZ", I was getting my Z's, a little snooZe, but then Jim came along and by his commotion woke me up.

Reflections and Street Captures:  This is Dutch, he didn't know we were watching him watch some birds play on the sidewalk and the street.  When he looked away, I caught this one.

Then he saw me and pleaded to make the room quiet again so the kids wouldn't scare his birds away.

Dutch, a Blue Russian cat, belongs to my younger daughter and youngest granddaughter.  He's still fairly new to our family.

Happy Birthday Katrin

.

A BIG, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to KATRIN!

Katrin, our adopted toy poodle, is 13 years old today.  We have had her for seven years now, since July, 2008 (YouTube Link).

We like her a lot!!!  And since Adi (our beagle dog, my buddy) and Amber (an amber yellow tiger cat) died Katrin is our only pet.

Is she spoiled?  Yes, she surely is spoiled.

Her doctor (a vet) also sent her this nice card for today.

Even though Katrin is a dog, not a cat, she is our only pet now.  Amber, her sister, a cat, is no longer with us.
so,

I'm linking her up with Sandee's Feline Friday cat day posts.

~~ Friday’s Hunt v.2.04 -- "D" is for ...

For the week of July 22th
1. Starts with D
2. Week's Favorite
3. Summer or Winter

1. Starts with DDogs  Adi, Katrin, and Leashes

Adi was our Beagle dog, she died in September, 2012.  We are still missing Adi, she was my buddy.  Adi and I were a registered Pet Therapy Team, visiting assisted living and Alzheimer's residents and tutoring school children to read better.

Katrin was our Toy Terrier dog, she died in November, 2014.  We miss her very much also.

Leashes -- Leashes on dogs is a pet peeve of mine.  If there is an ordinance or deed restriction calling for all dogs outside their fenced yard to be leashed, then leash them.
There are other people on the streets and sidewalks besides you!!!
Our granddaughter, KP, is afraid of dogs.  Some children and adults are.

2. Week's Favorite:

Our KP is a pretty fair checker player.  Here she and Mrs. Jim had a little game on one of the boards on the 'waiting porch' of our local Cracker Barrel Restaurant.  KP's next lesson, either from her father or me, seems to be the 'art' of willingness to even trade pieces when you are ahead.
For new visitors, KP is our youngest granddaughter.

3. Summer or Winter:  Live in Texas and play golf year round.

KP had a new set of clubs for Christmas so
she and Mrs. Jim went out and played a few holes.
Some of the grass does brown in the winter, some more than others.

A spring picture
This is the 11th Fairway behind our Montgomery, Texas house.
This house is for sale as we have moved to Katy, Texas.

 Two Summer pictures.
KP is getting to be a fair golfer now, her shots are straight.
On the right she is practicing her mid range game.

Six Word Saturday ~~ Katrin, our 14-year-old poodle

my six words:
Katrin, our toy poodle died Tuesday

She died in her doctor's office of heart failure.  We loved Katrin so very much, Mrs. Jim had "rescued" her from a dying friend.

At left is Katrin last year on her 13th July birthday walking across the back porch to our back door.
On the right is a very guilty dog back in 2008 when we first got her.  She had gotten into BP's toothpaste.  See this link:

Letter "E" -- Friday's Weekend Roundup 11 and Reflections and-or Street/Candid Captures

 - Tom's this Week's Prompts:  Starts with "E."  A Favorite.  "E"arly.
- James' request, "Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures."
_ _ _ _

Starts with "E"Egret starts with an "E".  You can read more about this one here (she/he got killed--on the bridge never more).  Some of you probably have read about it in poem form.  I won't forget this bird.

A Favorite:  This little rabbit and his little brother were side by side under a tree Eating, nibbling on some grass.  By the time I was ready to get for picture taking they had separated so that I could only get one.   I chose the closer of the two, big brother.

.

Tom's suggestion, "Early":   Early to Bed wasn't the issue here, back in 2011.  (Katrin, still asleep here, died in 2013.)

"Katrin had a perfectly good bed. But when we went over to pick her up after our return from visiting Karen's in London there was no bed for her. The lady who keeps her was out and her husband could not find the bed.

That was not a problem for the moment although I helped him look for it we both gave up on finding it. When the lady came home she called Mrs. Jim per instructions as the husband had given us too low a figure for her keep.

After settling on the fee, Mrs. Jim asked about the bed. She said to come on over. When Mrs. Jim got there this new bed was waiting in the utility room for us. Of course, it wasn't Katrin's bed, not the one we had brought.

Then the lady fessed up. Another dog that she had named (neither of us can remember that dog's name) had attacked the bed and chewed it up until it was in pieces of foam rubber scattered on the floor.

We don't know who paid for this new bed. Mrs. Jim knows the dog's owner. Either the owner or the keeper lady paid for it. We don't care who. And Katrin is happy so all is well.

Oh yes, we think Katrin had brought a toy, a little stuffed chipmunk. We think we are ahead so the toy wasn't made an issue."

Reflections and/or
Street Photos/Candid Captures
:   "
Eyeing" is for this "I'm Watching You" photo.
We both were watching the little tugboat move our ship away from the dock where we boarded.

But Mrs. Jim (here) caught me taking her picture.  Most time she humors me and doesn't complain.  Mostly, when I'm driving she isn't real keen on that, me taking pictures.

It's Here! — Six Word Saturday —

s..
my Six Words:
My New Camera Finally Got Here!!!

Here are some of the first couple of day's pictures with the camera.  Mrs. Jim has honors with the first picture taken, and now posted to my blog.  I missed having a camera while this one was coming but finally it came.  Remember (link scroll down to the Two Quetions part) that I washed my old one because I didn't check front pants pockets when I did my clothes washing.

The new camera is another Sony pocket camera, this time a Sony DSC-WX50, a 2012 model.  Being a 2012 model means reduced price.  It was listed at $199.99 but I doubt many were sold at that price.  My price was $107.95 from an Amazon.com associate supplier, Roberts LP.  Not being from Amazon itself eliminated $6.80. T e x a s . sales tax.

So far I am fairly satisfied with the camera's operation.  I don't like the 'in camera' battery charging set up but then we already have here two Sony external battery chargers from other cameras.  The packaging was the worst I have ever had come through the mail, there was NO INSIDE PACKING to stop the camera box from rattling around inside a larger box. And the twilight picture had a lot of round light spots, I don't know where they came from.

Mrs. Jim and Katrin here are scrounging in the refrigerator for us some leftovers for lunch.  Mrs. Jim did well with these left over from our Tuesday evening domino group dinner.

Next comes a back yard picture followed by two side yard pictures.  The golf course is dried grass mostly yet due to a late heavy frost.

You can click on any picture to make it larger.

The side yard pictures below are of the back porch and the greenery on the property line.  The right hand picture shows the red bud tree pretty good.

Here is a front yard picture.  The ornamental pear trees in front are starting to bloom.

The holly tree in front here has its berries starting to fade.  They soon will drop and the birds will pick them up for us.

Below is a before and after picture of Katrin.  She had a trip to the groomer today.  I can get three haircuts for the price of one for Katrin.  But then mine last three times longer so we come out about even.

She gets pretty shaggy between her cuttings.  Mrs Jim will trim some in between times, especially around her eyes.  While Katrin was getting her cut Mrs. Jim and I played a round of golf.   Neither of us were up to our usual so so game as each of us for differing reasons had not played for a couple of weeks.

Here are a couple of trial pictures.  At left is my twilight shot of the moon.  The Moon is not any of the round items as it was a sliver moon.  It is the small dot, second from the top of the slanting upward four above and right of the tree.  My drowned camera would not take pictures of the moon.

At left is a trial of the zoom function.  I was sitting beside Mrs. Jim, top picture here, and the chair was thirty feet away in the living room.  I think it did pretty good.  This camera zooms five times with the lens and five more digitally after the lens is fully extended.

The green on Katrin's head is a St. Patrick's Day
ribbon that the groomers put on her.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you!
(be sure to wear green tomorrow
so that you don't get pinched.)
