Thematic Photographic 209 - From behind

From behind here refers to getting in back of
your subject and taking the picture.
.
These four pictures all have vehicles of which I have taken their backsides. The first three also have the backside of a human being.
.
The occasion for the first three was the July 4 (2012) Marines Parade at the Woodlands, Texas. The Woodlands is a planned community suburb just north of Houston.
..
There were a lot more former Marines, many of which are retired, than active duty ones.

Here are a couple of Fords' backsides. On the left is a 1951 Ford Club Coupe which participated in the parade along with its owner, a retired Marine. Did you notice that I caught a couple of human backs in this picture.

The other car is a black 1950 Ford Convertible that belongs to my friend. Both have been rescued and restored. (You can click on any picture for a larger view.) I drove two retired Marines in my 1998 Ford Mustang GT Convertible also and was following the car in the top photo (picture link)

The Tiger Grey Cat

like the proverbial sailor

neighbors liked his way with the mouse

retired they all gave him his due

"M" is for Meow, the wonderful sound of a cat. This one is a sweetheart that I discovered at the children's playground while outing with our three-year-old- granddaughter at the park.
Cats can only speak in Meow language that humans must learn if one is to have a cat. If spoken urgently the cat may hurt or be hungry or it might not be able to find the new location where its litter box has been moved.
Spoken with a gentle purr, it likes you or what you are doing. Better rub its tummy some more or pet it if you aren't doing that right now. Also mind the purring while its asking in sweet begging-toned Meow words, "please let me sit on your lap."

The Pet House and the Resident House were both made of Legos. I found these in the Lego store window front.

Nineteenth Hole — MidWeek Blues / Magical / "Series" — Thematic Photographic

Week # 202 for the Thematic Photographic. Going good, Carmi. This is Week # 004 for me. Carmi also challenged his readers today to write something Magical for today.
Mrs. Jim and I played golf yesterday. Golf you know is eighteen holes, tee off from the tee box, hit on the fairways a couple of times to get to the green, and putt two more times to make the ball go into the hole. That makes four hits to get the ball in the hole and would be a par if that hole was par four.
.
Repeat eighteen times and that is a round of golf. Most holes are par four, a few are either par three (short green) or par five (long green). On many courses the total of pars is 72, a few are less and just a handful are par 73.
.
Well, what is the nineteenth hole? That is a watering hole for some, where the guys and/or the ladies discuss their golfing experience for the day, have a drink or two and discuss a lot of other things.
.
This nineteenth hole for us is our Fitness Center. We dropped in for a couple of things, first to de-water (go pee), then Mrs. Jim got a big cup of fresh coffee, half decaf and half regular to take out (free) and I got a cup of ice and the fitness classes schedule for July. The schedule is so that I can use the group room for my lifts, pulls, stretches, etc, that my orthopedic Dr. has prescribed for me to do.

What is magical about golfing or nineteen holes? For me it is magic because a year ago I thought that I would never play golf again. That was because I had a total left knee joint replacement last July 18th.
.
But now I have been playing golf for a month. I think I might play better than I did before the new knee. That is magic too because I never did play very good. I say that I am not athletic.
.
Oh yes, the blue flag on the back? That is my 'handicap flag' so that I can ride close to the greens and on the fairways of the par three holes which generally are 'cart path only.' It isn't for my new knee that I fly it but for a right foot that tends to swell way up walking on the golf course too much. So I ride more and walk less.
.
And now the series part. The first picture was the end.

This picture is of a low water crossing. It is on the Wedgewood course that I would have played with the fellows. But Mrs. Jim couldn't get her group together yesterday for their play. So she and I used her tee time on the Miller course here (the one behind our house is the Weiskopf) in our subdivision.
.
We were joined by a couple of fellows who played really good. Playing lots of things with someone better than you will help you to play better. Goes for chess, tennis, and golf too. It did get hot before we finished, about 94°F..

Summer is morning fog on the golf course that's behind our house. It'll soon be hot.

Summer is having take-out breakfast from MacDonalds.
My favorite is Egg Biscuit with cheese. I take the bottom biscuit off.
I eat the egg and cheese top part with ketchup. Then with coffee I have
the bottom part with strawberry jam.

Summer is dogs sleeping most of the day in the shade someplace.

Summer is concerts in the park. Back in my near-hippy days, early 70's,
there would be a musical group under nearly every tree in the Houston parks.
I'd ride my motorcycle litterally from tree to tree and find a shady place to listen.
I remember then ZZ Top was playing out there, getting a start with the others.

Summer is weddings so blissful. This picture was of my oldest (of four)
granddaughter, Megan and her getting-to-be new husband, James.

Summer is vacations in the cool lands. Colorado and its Garden of the Gods
will be nice in most years. It was last year. But this year the woods are on fire
there and the scenery may not be so green. There are forest fires now around the
Colorado Springs area. So far this year Texas has been spared. Not so last year.

Running with the wrong crowd — MidWeek Blues / "The Blob" — Thematic Photographic

These people were running the April 15, 2012, Paris, France, Marathon. Here we are at about the halfway point, around mile 15 of the 26 mile race. We waited here for our Karen to come by and for us to cheer her on.

This lady wearing the blue shirt is looking for a friendly face on the sidelines, I am sure. We can also be sure that she is more than just a little uncomfortable running with these 'orangey and black dressed people.'

This particular shot was an interesting one to take. I was driving down a back street in Milan, Tennessee when this large wet leaf blew onto my. Like a good Boy Scout, I was ready with my camer. I am always ready, it's either in my pocket, the door pocket in the car, or on a table within my reach.

But to me, it is more than a leaf. Like, do you ever look at clouds to find some for, recognizable as a familiar object or person? If this leaf turned out to be white, it might be "Casper, the Friendly Ghost." But since it's dark, sinister, and eerie, I call it "The Blob." I didn't see the movie, I'm not an expert on blobs, you might think differently.

Exotic Olive — MidWeek Blues — Thematic Photographic; Got the blues

Please don't eat the olive, the Blue ONE. That one is ceramic and is a part of the olive dish. It is very functional as a toothpick holder.
.
There are more olives than the eight guests. And there were also more guests than toothpicks.
.
Olives were a part of the hors d'oeuvres for our neighborhood Gourmet Dining group's dinner. The Smoked Salmon Tartare (salad) on Belgian Endive leaves shown on the top of the picture were the primary entrée for hors d'oeuvres. Tomorrow I will post more about our Gourmet Dining and show you the main course for this dinner.
