Mardi is the French word for Tuesday, and gras means “fat.” In France, the day before Ash Wednesday came to be known as Mardi Gras, or “Fat Tuesday.”

This year Mardi Gras was on February 13. Our younger daughter brought us these two small cakes as a Mardi Gras present.

A Favorite: My favorite today will be Green
Grasshopper. I have forgotten where I found this green guy grasshopper. Maybe in the Grocery store garden section?

The Letter "G" ~~ Rev 04 - Weekend Roundup and Reflections
The 33rd issue of Weekend Roundup for this year... (THE SEVENTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)
- the Letter "G" Prompts are:
(A) Starts with the Letter "G"; (B) A Favorite; (C) "G" for "Green" (Tom's choice); and (D) Reflections.
(A) Starts with the Letter "G":
Garden starts with "G". Here are two Fairy Gardens we sort of liked on our visit to the Nursery.

Grapefruit also starts with "G" but they aren't Green. Limes are Green but they don't start with "G".
(B) A Favorite: Mint Candy wrapped in Green.
Standing by the stream at the bottom of the Green retention area. You can see how the street ends at the beginning of the Green. Our street also ends a couple of blocks down for the Green retention place.
(C) "G" for "Green" (Tom's choice): Our street ends at this pretty Green Grass and Tree water retention area.
(D) Reflections. Guess where we were? Click on the space below for the answer.
And if you wanted your Reflection to be Green, here we have some more Grass. And the water is a little deeper and wider over by the elementary school.
My Two Questions for this week (you can answer just one if you wish):
1. My second Reflection picture has a cloud reflecting. Do you like to see things in the cloud formations. Do you see anything in this one of mine? I see someone's, a Giant perhaps, effort showing in his/her attempts to blow smoke rings.
2. What is your taste preference towards snacks? At times mine are fruit, other times candy.
Bonus Questions:
1. What is your favorite "G" word?
2. Does your area have Flood protection retention ponds. Or other means to control excess runoff water?

It's another shoot and run photo, I wanted to study at my leisure the inside of this car. So the window shot, I am surprised it didn't' also turn out to be a Selfie in the resulting mixed Reflections.

The Letter "A" ~~ Weekend Roundup and Reflections
The 27th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...(THE FIRST LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)
- the Letter "A" Prompts are:
(A) Starts with the Letter "A"; (B) A Favorite;
(C) "A" Architecture (Tom's choice); and (D) Reflection(s).
(A) Starts with the Letter "A": Apple starts with the Letter "A".
This is our youngest granddaughter, KP. She is doing the YMCA song "A" with the Apples. I think she will be guest on the fruit and vegetable lettered words, at least up through the "D".
(B) A Favorite: The Volunteer Fire Department's Ladder Truck was my favorite entry in the Friendswood, Texas, Independent Day parade. I think most boys like fire engines.
Our vantage spot was inside the local MacDonald's. Of course it was air-conditioned to protect us from the sun and the hot.

(C) "A", Architecture (Tom's choice): This is a picture of the home we lived in before we retired.
That was in Friendswood, Texas, where we lived for 23 years. Would you believe that it had 33 inches water inside with the flood of July 1979?
(D) Reflection(s): As seen on N B C T V, The Macy's Light and Freedom, NYC, 4th of July Celebration. There was also the Washington, DC, National Independence Day Celebration on P B S T V but the firework viewed here was much better here from the cameras across the River. And they lasted longer.

Weekend Letter "G"; Green and Great
The 5th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...
the Letter "G". Prompts are:
(A) Starts with "G"; (B) A Favorite; (C) Great; and (D) Reflection(s).
(A) Starts with "G": Green starts with "G". Mrs. Jim in Bonaire finding a Green and Yellow and Red bus. She didn't ride.
(B) A Favorite: This is my Green 1974 Mustang II Ghia. It was Mom's and still has only 67K miles. Always garaged, it has a four-on-the-floor stick shift (the only kind Mom liked to drive), a vinyl hand cranked sun roof, air conditioner, and AM/FM radio. A true "cream puff" with low miles owned and driven by a LOL (Little Old Lady).

(C) Great: Great big patch of Green Clovers. Find a Four-leaf Clover and you'll have good luck for quite a Great while. The fields below had a lot of clover in them.
(D) Reflections: It is hard to tell in my picture real good, but the Green Reflection of the Green Grass along the edges was so pretty when we walked the trails here Monday afternoon. Down where my feet were standing to take the picture above was the clover in the picture above.

Green and Believe -- Josie's Two Shoes
God made the fields of green. I believe green is God's favorite
color. He loves the reds, the blues,
and the yellows. He loves all
of the mixtures they can make.
But best of all, God loves the green.
Don't forget all the trees He made,
for they are green as well.
Those trees are special to Him for
making of crosses and coffins.
We see His son
was crucified on a tree,
a cross made of cedar
from the tree once green.
His Son had no coffin but His body
was wrapped, then buried in clothes
fit for the rich man, Lazarus.
We though are blessed by God to be the wood of His green trees.
There it'll rest until His Son, Jesus,
returns. Then the coffin will open
and we believers in His Son, and
in how He happened to die for us
and then rose from the dead,
will leave our coffins and go with Him.
God loves green,
He loves His green world.
But since Adam, God has deemed
that we, mere men and women,
should care for his world.
We've done the best when
we ourselves benefit from our labors.
Golf course green with God's
green grass is planted there
by agronomists who dedicated their lives
to the keeping of His world green.
The trees give shade for His golfers
and places for His squirrels to play.
When left alone, God's green
shares with His Mother Nature's others.
Fields of Texas Blue Bonnets grow
in place of the unselfish yielding grass,
yellow sunflowers and golden rods
supplant His green with glee.
We love to ride and ogle His world
through the forests on the roads man has made.
There yellow Gerbera Daisies
and Esperanza flowers proliferate.
Knowing that God can do all this for us
should make us want all the more
and more to be His stewards
for the good of us all, man and God.
And for sure that this beauty could
only be invented and created by God.
No other way.
I believe in a good and gracious God.

If only I were outside, I would be ...

I know what I would do outside.
I would play hide and seek again with my daddy.
The park was very crowded at is was a holiday. But that doesn't matter. I'm like my mommy, I am a real Tree Hugger.

Mr. Tim Man and his pet grashopper friend -- Au revoir
Mr. Tim Man went for a walk. As he walked along the fence he happened to look down. There was Mr. Grasshopper looking like he was in pain.Is there something wrong, you silly green fellow? Did someone step on your tail or worse?
No, no, nothing like that.
Well then, what is the matter with you. You are looking terrible. Do you feel half as bad?
I feel terrible. I have no friends and here I am trying to get some shade from this small tree.
I will be your friend but you can't be staying there under that tree. Besides it doesn't even look like a tree to me, you silly frog.I'm not a frog. Well, then, let us go. By the way, where are you going? Where are we going?
I really don't know. I hadn't even planned on going until I found you green guy laying there and saw your troubles.
Okay, let's go. My grandmother grasshopper lives in Quebec City. We can go visit her.That would be fine. But please don't tell Mr. Jim. He might not want us to go.
I won't tell a soul.

This is Jim. Now I have two tin creatures to be keeping track of of. Keeping up with one is actually quite pleasant. I just don't like green creatures.
When I catch up with them I surely will sell that tin grasshopper character to the scrap man. He will pay 'top dollar.' I heard that line on the TV station last night.
So I will pretty well stop this blogging bit and head for Canada. There are a few posts that I worked on over at the Photo and Poem Place that are halfway ready to be posted..
If the scrap dealer pays enough for the grasshopper I might just stay gone.

Adi Can . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Drive and operate this big rig
We have been gone this week and just got back last night. Mrs. Jim and I and the dogs went to North Louisiana to visit her sister and husband. Mostly we visited and ate (of course). We also went to their church Wednesday night. We had a nice meat loaf supper at church and then went to the Wednesday night prayer service.
You'd better watch for her in your rear view mirror. I taught her to drive and she likes to put the petal to the metal on this big rig!
She's looking it over one more time before she puts it into action.
Just one little problem here. Adi can't reach the controls without her step stool. She sent me after it and now is waiting for it to get here.
Here is her yesterday's work. She brought in these seven from the tree farm.
