The Start of Adi's meme: (written March 6, 2008).Hi, my name is Adi. I am a tri color beagle with purebred lines. I am eleven, in dog years that would be about seventy-seven. Adi and I were a Registered Pet Therapy Team. We visited assisted living residents and also as a Reading Dog, Adi and I helped children with their reading skills. Adi loved both activities and could hardly wait to go to work.
Katrin (1999-2013), a prissy Toy Poodle adopted through her first owner's will.

I don't work anymore and we stopped having dogs when Adi died, 2012, and then Katrin also died in 2013.

(A) Begins with "Z": Zuari begins with "Z". Zuari River is 21 miles long, the largest river in Goa, India. We cruised, in a house boat, on the Zuari River Backwaters for an entire morning on our stop at Goa.
(B) "Zippy" (Tom's Choice): Our neighbor's McLaren is plenty Zippy. It is a 2014 McLaren, I've not ridden in it "yet''.
(C) A Favorite:
(D) Street/Reflections: This is my standing six drawer dresser, very old. The cars are in parade formation for their Reflection on the dresser's top finish. I hadn't planned on the ceiling fan showing reflected in the dresser mirror. A Lagniappe up there also.

Letter "Y" -- -- Weekend Roundup and Street/Reflections

(A) Starts with the Letter "Y": "Ysleta" starts with "Y". Ysleta is now a part of El Paso, Texas, although until the forced annexation of 1955 it was a city of it's own. Back in the late 1950's and early 1960's I rode my Vespa Motorscooter many times to and through Ysleta.
My favorite time was gathering mistletoe for Christmas from the trees in the ditches along the highway. The very old Ysleta Mission is also here, a part of the National Park Service. You can read of the mission here. (B) "Yellow" (Tom's Choice): This is a Yellow service Car for the railroad. They used to be hand cars but this one is too large for that and has an engine.
I found it at one of the the railway depots at Cinque Terre , a region composed of five villages on the Italian Riviera. It appears to have been 'out of service' for quite a while.
(C) A Favorite: This Yellow and Purple Taxi is Mrs. Jim's and my Favorite because those are her school's, LSU, Colors. The red sign in the window says it is a Ferrari but do not believe that. (D) Street/Reflections: Found at Albert-Kahn Gardens, Paris (link). Go there if you get a chance. In east Paris, you can take the subway/train. It's a peaceful visit, the park isn't crowded and there's even an ATM across the street at a small branch bank. From a previously posted Poem, "Blue Rain",
(E) A Lagniappe: "Y" is for the Yellow Cars I have known. Posted here are a few. You can click on any of the pictures to see a larger size view.Above left, is a toy car belonging to KP's friend who was three years old. It was one of his favorites. On the right, with Mrs. Jim 'driving', is a toy car at the Peppa Pigland Park near Southampton, U.K. where back in 2012 we visited while on a British holiday for about five weeks. Did you note that the other two passengers, KP and me (JIM), are (not) hanging on tightly?
Now we see the railroad Yellow car, again transporting KP and Mrs. Jim. Then there is the Peppa Pig Yellow Bus showing off at Peppa Pigland.

(A) The Letter "X": Today "X" is for "Crossing". Like the signs at Railroad Crossings. I'm at the crossing, which way do I want to go? I went straight ahead. (photos are screen shots of g o o g l e maps of Springville, California, except the Crossing Signal light is mine)
(B) "eXtra Special" (Tom's Choice): "Extra, Extra, Special . . . !"
(C) A Favorite: The Worst Selfie I've ever taken.
October 3, 2019, in South Africa outside Cape Town, we were headed to a picnic lunch at a winery. The food was super, a five course lunch, but forgettable. Guess I should have looked at the other pictures for a hint.
(D) Street/Reflections: A Walk Picture in the flood prevention/retention depression beside the mailboxes.
(E) A Lagniappe. Walmart "Wall of Honor" for Memorial Day. I took it "Specially" for last week's "W" post. But I did otherwise on the posting side of my plan for it.
Note: You can tell there is more stuff to tell and show for "W's" than for "X's". Too many for one post, even some left for next time.

(A) Starts with the Letter "W": Wreck starts with "W". This toy truck was in a shipping or store wreck and was five dollars off. I wouldn't give five dollars for the toy, for sure not the 'reduced' $14.98 price at the damaged merchandise sale at Walmart. Boo!!!
Have you ever been in a wreck? Your last wreck? One that totaled your vehicle? What do you remember about your first wreck?
Our last wreck was with our present family car. A man in a pickup truck rammed us and fell back, then he returned and rammed us again. He was on medication driving his way to the hospital.
Our next to last car was totaled when we were hit in the rear by a Ford F250 truck.
My first wreck was when I was driving my dad's truck on the way home from high school. A drunk driver drove in head first to us on that gravel road, a road grader had graded the gravel into a ridge at the side and it kept me from pulling onto the shoulder.
I wrecked that pickup three times, none was my fault. I have wrecked my cars several times none was my fault. I did rear end a lady who stopped a second time going through her stop sign. And another time when a lady slowed down before she got through her intersection. One lady ran a stop sign onto a busy street in front of me and off my motor scooter I landed on top of her hood.
(B) "Water" (Tom's Choice): Water to use mostly comes when we have rainy Weather. I took this last Sunday and for today and through next Wednesday the probabilities for water changed considerably, today 70 %.

(C) A Favorite: Our youngest grandchild is looking forward now to be able to drive. But this photo and excerpt is from my June 8, 2011 post, ten years ago.
(D) Street/Reflections: Taken December 8, 2019 Abu Dhabi, Uni ted Emirates (Middle East, Arabia).
We were visiting a Date Store, full of dates and stuff made with or from them. Dates are a major agricultural product for this part of Arabia.
(E) A Lagniappe: This Model A Ford is a different one than I had last week, it was brown but also taken at our church's Saturday afternoon, May 15, "Crawfish and Car Show". We had 175 cars, I didn't bring my mother's "Grandma's Green Mustang II" to show. (See it here), I think it is either a 1929 or 1930. Our Tom may be able to differentiate. _ _ _ _

Letter "V" -- Weekend Roundup and Street/Reflections
THE TWENTY-SECOND LETTER FOR THIS SERIES

(A) Starts with the Letter "V": Valley starts with the letter "V". This pretty Green (Verdant??) Valley seen at the edge of the North/South highway in South Africa, northwest from Cape Town.
(B) "Verdant" (Tom's Choice) The Verdant patch of the Verdant Green Peas makes quite a fresh contrast with the rest of my breakfast plate, grits and eggs and green peas.
Do you put a big glob of butter left to melt in the middle of the Grits? And do you salt and pepper your scrambled eggs? I do, the grits too. Also I put catsup on them but not for this day.

This car is a Model A Ford, I think either a 1929 or 1930. Our Tom may be able to differentiate.
(E.2) A Lagniappe: I had planned to post a picture of our first Vinca bloom of the year. It was a
pretty white.
Originally a lot from the fall would last us through winter but our hard freeze Texas killed them all. These come up as volunteer plants, a red one would be next.

Loudon Wainwright - Dead Skunk In The Middle Of The Road
(A) Starts with the Letter "S": Skunk starts with "S". Mine is the "Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road" song of the early 70's. Lyrics at the end of this post.

(B) "Short" (Tom's Choice): Our Statue of Sam Houston, our first Texas President, is NOT SHORT. Neither is my cousin, Jack, who looks Short compared with the Statue. Jack is over six feet tall.
They visited us in 2006 and had noticed the Statue when driving down I-45 into Houston. So we went up to look things over. The Statue is 67 feet tall, eleven times taller than Jack.
(C) A Favorite: My Favorite Soup is Maruchan Instant Lunch with Shrimp. I doctor it up a bit to make it look exciting and add just a little bit more boiling water to make it into Soup.
BTW, Maruchan Instant Lunch is a favorite of college students, a few years ago when I started eating it the price was 28 cents a serving, not it has gone to between 37 cents (Walmart) to 39 cents (Kroger).
Add Boiling Water but first doctor it up with the following:

A Rat's Nest. Our pool mechanic found it when he opened the pool heater door for some leak checking.
He said it is quite often to find Rat's Nests in that sort of protected places. I suppose it gets quite hot in there when and if the heater is turned on.
