The Letter "C" ~~ Weekend Roundup and Reflections

My Car List, of all or most all of the cars I have owned
is LAST on this post.  Please scroll down to it.

The 29th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...(THE THIRD LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)
- the Letter "C" Prompts are:
(A) Starts with the Letter "C"; (B) A Favorite; (C) "C" for Calm (Tom's choice); and (D) Reflection(s).

(A) Starts with the Letter "C":  Cantaloupes starts with the Letter "C".  Our third picture of KP doing the Letter "C" in the song, "YMCA", Body Format.  We were in Sprouts of Katy, Texas (our Houston Suburb).  KP is our youngest granddaughter

She had her 10th Birthday Wednesday, tonight she is finishing up her celebration with a sleep-in party with a few other of her friend girls.

1937 Ford Deluxe Cabriolet.  Another of my Toy Cars.  My dad bought me a low mileage 1937 Ford Tudor car owned by a LOL (Little Old Lady) to drive to my last two years of High School.  But he traded it in for a 1949 Ford Pickup before school started because he thought it would be safer having hydraulic brakes.

This newspaper article called their 1936 a Cabriolet, actually it was a Coupe Convertible.  I have about 35 of these Cast  Iron Toy Cars and Tractors.  Most all are 1:16 scale.  The doors open, hoods and deck lids open, and the steering wheel steers the front tires.

Weekend Roundup -- 08-18(b) (for letter "H")

The 34th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...
The week's prompts:
(1) Starts with "H"; (2) A Favorite; and (3) Horse
(4) Pictures on the bottom are for "Reflections"

[a couple of Half Birthday Cakes for two young ladies with Half Birthdays]
[Half a Birthday, in-between day, so kids can celebrate summer BDays at school]
(1) Starts with "H": "Half" starts with "H".  Here are several "Half Pictures."  (There is another at the bottom for my "Reflections" photo, I call it "Half Dark".)
Half a BOGO* order of MacDonald's Egg McMuffins

Seems that this truck was half gone/destroyed and had been replaced

(1.a)  Correction:  Last week's lovely Garden Salad was not from a restaurant.   Our daughter Karen made it for us.   She made it for Granddaughter KP's pool party, four of us with KP swimming.  It was for main course with all the pretty vegatables and then burrata  cheese for protein and dairy.  Summer late afternoon had just set in. Perfect for swimming.

(2) A Favorite:  "Handy Man Puppet."  This came on the side of a MacDonald's Happy Meal carton.  Something for the kids to cut out.  I have fun with mine, it stays where I can find it.

Can you guess where that is?
Answer:  In my Bible . (highlight the empty area)

(3) Horse: This Ceramic Horse and the Bronz Horse originally belonged to my Grandpa H.  He had a large collection of figurine and toy horses, somehow my dad obtained these two when my Grandfather had to leave his Home.  And now I claim them.

The toy animals I really like are the figures that are made to go along with the toy barns.  But I will not pay full price for them, probably spending birthday or Christmas gift money at years end when they are on a really nice sale would be just right.  But then what would I do with them?  Probably wish I had a barn.

Did you know that I rode my horse, Minnie,
to a country high school for my first two years?
Every morning I was met by two neighbor girls
who rode their horses.  Our barn held eight horses.
(4) Begins with "H" for "Reflections":  I call it "Half Dark".  It is the little stream and lake in the first of our Flood Control waterways.

This is a "PrintScreen" photo that I snapped a few minutes ago.  Wish I were there.

Weekend Roundup -- 17-18 (for letter "Q")

[Adi is checking out our new baby girl, KP)

The 17th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...
The week's prompts:
(1) Starts with "Q"; (2) A Favorite; and (3) Quiet

(1) Starts with "Q": "Queen" starts with "Q".  One of these bees will be a "Queen Bee."  The other is her suitor.  This is a photo of a painting by a school child, one of many posted there for this week's display.

(2) A FavoriteAdi was my Favorite Dog., a purebred but without papers.  She and I were a certified animal therapy team.  We visited mainly at an assisted living home.

Adi loved to visit the Alzheimer wing residents and they all loved her.  After petting her for a bit many would reminisce about the dog or dogs in their lives.  Many they said, were now living with their children.

Adi was also a Reading Dog, she loved to read with the children in the library and in school.  Adi died in 2012 at age 17 (link).  Read more about her here (Adi was a co-author of my blog).

(3) QuietShshshshshsh, someone is sleeping here (earlier post source).

Weekend Roundup -- 15-18 (for letter "O")

The 15th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...
The week's prompts:
Starts with "O";  A Favorite; and One

(1.a) Starts with "O": "Open" Starts with "O".  Lets get off the phone and "Open" those presents.  KP was having her Eighth Family Birthday Party here.
(1.b) Starts with "O": "Octane" Starts with "O".  We are lucky, our cars run on the lowest here, 87 Octane.

It has been going up in price since I took this.  Today it went up from $2.39 to $2.45 per gallon at most stations.

(2) A Favorite: I took this picture at an "outdoor" restaurant.  It is of three generations, Mrs. Jim, KP, and Karen.

(3) One: Sort of speaks for itself.  Sign says.  This was taken in the fruit section of our favorite Kroger grocery store.  Remember it is my picture, no fair taking without my permission.

(4.a) Lagniappe:  Now that's ONE Black Cat.  Spoiled too.

(4.b) Lagniappe: The end, that's all for tonight.  When was the last caboose removed from the rails and replaced with a little black box?

The caboose was no longer seen on the tracks at the turn of the century, by year 2000. Highlight the section after tracks and before this sentence to see the answer.  Click here to read about the demise of the RR Caboose.

~~ Friday’s Hunt v.3.03 -- "C" is for ...

Friday's Hunt for the week of January 20th:  (1) Starts with C; (2) Week's Favorite; and  (3) Odd Angle.

(1) Starts with "C": "C" is for Cake and Candles.  Here is KP with her Half Birthday Cake.  She was seven and a half years old this week.  Here KP was mulling over her choices for the half birthday wish.
Note:  A Half Birthday Cake is only half a cake.  This one is Chocolate.

"C" is also for Chili Relleno.  I had two, a week apart.
The one on the left was from, this week.  We went to the La Finca Mexican Restaurant on the FM Hwy 1093 in Richmond, Texas (mailing address Katy, Texas).

On the right is my last week's second plate from Las Fuentes Mexican Restaurant & Bar in Magnolia, Texas.  This one was best though they charged another $1.00 for the Charo beans.

(2) Week's Favorite: Again "C" is for Cake and Candles.  KP's mom, Karen, also had a half birthday this week, not the same day as KP.

KP was feeling frisky in this picture.

Karen's cake was Angel Food with the top half hollowed out and filled with StrawberriesLite Cool Whip is the frosting, all perfect for people watching their eating or food plan.

(3) Odd Angle: My picture of the front of this Jeep didn't turn out.  Neither did the pink trim in various parts of the Jeep show good in this picture.

With all that pink, it even had a pink logo written on the hood (bonnet), I believe it belonged to a lady but I couldn't see the driver.  We were both driving when I took this picture.  she had less traffic than I did.

The picture WAS at a terrible slant, but I straightened it before I found out the Teresa wanted a slanted picture this week.

I couldn't take it straight because I was driving.  Mrs. Jim doesn't really like me doing that and she was riding with me.  Some of my readers have questioned this practice also.  But it's okay, I'm careful, and skillful.
