The Letter "C" ~~ Weekend Roundup and Reflections

The 29th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...(THE THIRD LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)
- the Letter "C" Prompts are:

(A) Starts with the Letter "C":  Cantaloupes starts with the Letter "C".  Our third picture of KP doing the Letter "C" in the song, "YMCA", Body Format.  We were in Sprouts of Katy, Texas (our Houston Suburb).  KP is our youngest granddaughter. 

She had her 10th Birthday Wednesday, tonight she is finishing up her celebration with a sleep-in party with a few other of her friend girls.


1937 Ford Deluxe Cabriolet.  Another of my Toy Cars.  My dad bought me a low mileage 1937 Ford Tudor car owned by a LOL (Little Old Lady) to drive to my last two years of High School.  But he traded it in for a 1949 Ford Pickup before school started because he thought it would be safer having hydraulic brakes.

This newspaper article called their 1936 a Cabriolet, actually it was a Coupe Convertible.  I have about 35 of these Cast  Iron Toy Cars and Tractors.  Most all are 1:16 scale.  The doors open, hoods and deck lids open, and the steering wheel steers the front tires.

(B) A Favorite:  We were having a Corn Dog Friday Lunch.  Guess which of us, Mrs. Jim, KP, or Me, had two Corn Dogs?  Who had two cups of milk.  Did any of us adults have two cups of Diet Coke?

Weekend Roundup -- 13-18(b) (for letter "M") -- Reflections too

The 39th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...
The week's prompts:

(1) Starts with "M":   Today we have "Mary" starting with "M".
 


Here's Cousin Mary on the right with Mrs. Jim.   Our cousin is 97 years old, she still drives and also teaches Sunday School.


Mary is a five hour drive from our house so we can't see her often. 
   


(b)  We have Mary Lou Retton.  Mary is a Houston product, but her fame is Gymnastics representing the U.S.A in the Olympics.

In 1984 Mary Lou won a Gold Olympics Medal for the best all around.  What ever that is. 
She was born in West Virginia in 1968 making her now 50.

Mary's latest endeavor is being a Star on the Dancing with the Stars program on Monday night on the ABC network. 

Her picture is of her when she was on a Paraguay postage stamp.  It is from Wikipedia, a Wiki Commons entry. (link)

Ms. Retton is married and lives in Houston.  She has four grown children and is a member of our church, Second Baptist Church Houston at our 1463 Campus (one of six).

(c)  Then there's Mother Mary, Beatles star, Paul McCartney's mother.  He references her twice in his song above, "Let it Be." 
 
When visiting our daughter when she and family lived in London we would walk past Paul's London home several times a week.  It was just around the corner from her flat.

(2) A Favorite: Mustang is my favorite car, I have two, a Black 1998 Ford Mustang GT Convertible, and a Green 1974 Ford Mustang II Ghia with a whitish vinyl top.  The '98 has 106K miles and the '74 has 67K.

(3) Many:  Thought I'd list the Top Ten of the Many Museums of the world per National Geographic.  This magazine has a lot of "Top Ten" for us to visit while traveling.  We've been to 8 or 9 of these: (it's getting too late, I will post it later if I find the article.)


So instead I posted this picture of "Many Ducks in the River".  For sure "I got my ducks in a row."  I think it is the Potomac, for sure in Washington D.C.  It was down my the War Memorial Wall but I don't know exactly where we were.  We walked there from Georgetown University.

(4) Reflections:  A local Barber shop has a special for Men, haircuts for $16.00.  I hope you can read what comes with this haircut. 

My 'stylist's' Senior Men's Haircuts are $12 but I only get a haircut without the shampoo, steamed towel, scalp massage, and/or snacks and drinks.  I will call here and ask about her giving me a "Senior Discount."  [click picture for a larger size.  Click again for larger still]

Weekend Roundup -- 12-18(b) (for letter "L") -- Reflections too

(1) Starts with "L":  Little starts with "L".  The picture above (click it a couple of times to make it larger) is of my Little Sister, L o i s, sitting on the bench wearing a white sweat shirt.  She and her Hub had been visiting Duluth earlier this week and were waiting for a ship to come through the Canal.  (Not like our Port of Houston where a ship comes every few minutes, sometimes in a train or lined up waiting for their turn to come in or go out.) (2) A Favorite:  These are my two favorite pictures of L o i s, my favorite sister, on my blog.  There are more though, she is on my blog a lot.  BTW, I only have one sister, no brothers.

(3)  Lonely:  Lonely Single Bananas -- the sign was a surprise at the fruit and vegetable section of our local Kroger store.

(4) Reflections: Louisiana has an Alligator Island Show where you can get close to the critters without them trying to chase you down.

Weekend Roundup -- 03-18(b) (for letter "C")

The 29th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...
The week's prompts:
(1) Starts with "C"; (2) A Favorite; and (3) Couple 
 

(1) Starts with "C":   Cheese starts with "C".  Mrs. Jim made this salad and I help a 'little' bit.  It is a Chicken and Vegetable salad with some Chunks of Cheddar Cheese added.  The salad dressing is Kraft Classic Catalina, fat free.

I'd like you to notice the lid on the dressing bottle.  It is one from a squeeze bottle of Mustard.  I put this lid on because the one that came from Kraft drizzled out the dressing where this one puts out a narrow stream.  This change saves on wasted dressing, it is so hard to put just a little on with the original lid.
 

 
(2) A Favorite:  This Birthday Cake belongs to our youngest great-grandchild, EV, who turned one year old last week. 
 
(3) Couple:  Here is the latest picture of Mrs. Jim and me.  We took it last Sunday after church with Peppa Pig who was visiting one of our local toy stores. 

We all were a big fan of Peppa Pig during our numerous visits to London, U.K.  Our younger daughter was working there for an oil company, staying five years.  KP loved Peppa Pig, she was her favorite TV personality. We tried to visit a couple of times a year.
