A quiz -- What's your favorite? -- Eleven London Pictures — My Alphabe-Thursday (4th), the letter "V"
My/Your favorite Vegetable is _____________(What?)
Left: Mrs. Jim is shopping for some cheese (I know, cheese is not a vegetable)
Right: Street where we ate, near Vauxhall Station
All Pictures were taken near the Vauxhall area or at the Borough Market in London
[You may click on any of the pictures for larger views--try clicking twice!]
"V" is for vegetable(s). My favorite vegetable is not these potatoes, commonly cooked as French Fries.
My Top Twelve Favorite Vegetables:
1. Pumpkin (best cooked in a Pumpkin Pie)
2. Beets (Mom made the best pickled beets I have ever eaten)
3. Potatoes (cooked most any way, FF's best, Baked, stuffed with BBQ'd chopped beef, are very fine)
4. Cabbage (best cooked as sauerkraut, cole slaw is fine if not too much mayo)
5. Onions (French Fried best; also Raw on the plate, not on my hamburger)
6. Radishes (with salt)
7. Broccoli (cooked most any way, not creamed soup)
8. Spinach (cooked most any way, buttered with a little real bacon the best)
9. Green String Beans (canned Green Giant the best)
10. Pickled Cucumbers (not raw, please)
11. Celery and Hominy, tie (Hominy and Corn Bread are the only forms of corn my colon doctor will let me eat)
I do not like eggplant or rutabaga and would rather not have carrots. My colon doctor will not allow me to eat nuts and anything with seeds (remember Tomatoes are fruit as are Pecans)
Vegetables and Fruit (aren't Vegetables) at the market
A couple of Selfies;
-- me with a half eaten brat and sauerkraut sandwich, purchased at the Borough Market,
-- then me (with camera, Mrs. Jim, and KP all eating "on the street" at a Vauxhall standup eatery--I had fish and chips, Mrs. Jim had the hamburger and FF's, and KP had chicken nuggets)
Rabbits are the ultimate in Vegetarian living; sheep are big on vegetables too
If and when I ever come out of retirement to sell vegetables one of these vehicles is liable to be my delivery transportation.
All pictures are from our Spring 2014 visit to London.
We stayed almost two months.
Today I am linked again (this is the first one of the fourth series for me) with Teacher Jenny at her Alphabet Thursday Letter "V" blog (Link) (My Older series post links, 1st, 2nd, 3rd)

Friday’s Hunt v1.8 -- "H" is for ...
Friday's Hunt for the week of February 19th, (1) Starts with H; (2) Week's Favorite; and (3) Family
(1a) Starts with H: Hibiscus -- We never had a hibiscus until we moved here to Katy (Texas) and it was here when we came. This one has several fresh orange flowers every day, just for us as the backyard is enclosed with a board fence. And just about every day we look out the breakfast room window and admire it. Sometimes aloud.
I can tell by this picture that it was taken before being fertilized. Now it is a luscious green and more bushy.
(1b) Starts with H: Hot Dog and Homemade -- This time it's a corn dog with leftover Homemade (Mrs. Jim's) potato salad. I usually put yellow mustard on my leftover potato salad but never on the fresh, first day, treat. I would never want to offend the cook and her/his choice of the way food should be.

(2) Week's Favorite: Thinking of being on Seven Mile Beach at Grand Cayman Island.
(3) Family: Mrs. Jim and I will celebrate, again, our 43rd wedding anniversary next Wednesday, the 24th. I say again because this cruise, on the Princess Caribbean, that we took from January 31 to February 7 was our official celebration. I think we will go out some place to eat but I don't know where yet. MacDonald's?
Some place I have a nice family picture, us, five kids, six grandkids, and two greats. But this one of us at the Seven Mile Beach will have to do.
(4) A lagniappe for you, a Poem for You: "The cows will come" (all is copyright, pictures and all, as on this blog. I previously posted it on my other blog, Jim's Little Photo and Poem Place [link]).
. . . . . . . . . The cows will come
The cows will come
at farmer's call
Into the barn
each knows her stall
Brownie comes last
she's boss of all
The pigs come too
crowding their trough
Roosters don't come
'til lights go off
I'm not a cow
pig or goat's gruff
Still I come when-
ever you call

. - The animal pictures were taken at the Vauxhall City Farm, at Vauxhall, Borough of Lambeth, London, U.K. (visit it here). Oh, yes, the top picture is on of the horses coming in from giving rides all day. The cows weren't receptive to picture taking. The resting Ducks were at a canal near Northampton.
. - We took KP to the farm, she loved it. A little scared of the geese, but even some adults are afraid of that. If you visit London with young ones, take them there. Also zoo at Regent's Park is very nice. Admittance is free, both places.

Weekend Roundup -- 12-18(b) (for letter "L") -- Reflections too
The 37th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...
The week's prompts:
(1) Starts with "L"; (2) A Favorite; (3) Lonely; and (4) Reflections
[
L o i s and her Hub sitting on the bench by the U.S. Flag]
(1) Starts with "L": Little starts with "L". The picture above (click it a couple of times to make it larger) is of my Little Sister, L o i s, sitting on the bench wearing a white sweat shirt. She and her Hub had been visiting Duluth earlier this week and were waiting for a ship to come through the Canal. (Not like our Port of Houston where a ship comes every few minutes, sometimes in a train or lined up waiting for their turn to come in or go out.) (L o i s in my Blog link)

[Vauxhall, London, U.K. Animal farm visit. I think we walked there from the Kid's high rise flat on the river. KP loved the farm animals -- Vauxhall Search blog link]
[KP was three when we visited Peppa Pig Land in 2012 -- Fun for kids and grown ups]
(1) Starts with "L": London also starts with "L". It is my favorite go to place, follow by Paris. Been to both quite a few times, first in 199x, last in 2014, That was when our younger daughter, KP, and SIL came home to stay. My blog search, London -- See London Labels below for more
[Did she eat it all?]
[check here to read the story and more]
(2) A Favorite: These are my two favorite pictures of L o i s, my favorite sister, on my blog. There are more though, she is on my blog a lot. BTW, I only have one sister, no brothers.
[click picture for larger view -- click again for extra large]
(3) Lonely: Lonely Single Bananas -- the sign was a surprise at the fruit and vegetable section of our local Kroger store.
(4) Reflections: Louisiana has an Alligator Island Show where you can get close to the critters without them trying to chase you down.
Alligator Park is located in Natchitoches, Louisiana. See and read more, click here. It's on the way to see Mrs. Jim's sister who lives in Farmerville, Louisiana, so I'm sure if we live long enough we will stop either coming or going. Louisiana sampling link

You might want to Google those two towns in Wales. We stayed at B&B's there. Four nights, we had a rented car. No pictures this morning from the iPad but I hope to have some in the next few weeks. Wales finished up our British Isles visits. Now have been to England, Ireland, Scotland, Isle of Man, and Wales, several times for some.
.
[might see the Kid's Vauxhall high rise flat from here -
I liked their St. John's flat better, Beatle Land there]
Pictures are Wales countryside, London Big Eye and Big Ben, Northampton village, and more wales (atop Mt. Snowdon and another countryside one). You can click on them for a larger view.Labels: Driving Pictures, London, Six Word Saturday, Travel, Wales

~~ Friday’s Hunt v.4.06 -- "F" is for ...
Friday's Hunt for the week of August 11th:
(1) Starts with F; (2) New; and (3) Self (portrait)
(1) Starts with "F: FFF, or Fine Feathered Friends and Fine Finned Friends.
Mrs. Jim, KP, and I visited the Houston Zoo on November 1, 2011. KP, here peeking around and through the bridge, was two at the time and really enjoyed seeing the animals and fishes.
I was at the Fort Bend Country Library, our branch, and happened upon these feathery guys. Mother led the pack but the little ones scrambled for drinks.
These feathered folks are hanging out in our front flower bed. Mrs. Jim has been giving them water. Probably not needed now that we had seven (7) inches of rain last night.
We call them doves but they are much smaller than the ones we had north of town. At first I though the larger one was the mother and the smaller one a babies about ready to fly. Now we are thinking that they might be a pair, making four.
They don't seem to want to habit this nest in the gable. We have not seen them fly.
(2) New: This is the New -- It is a 2017 Cadillac XTS SUV that we were GIVEN as a loaner while ours was being repaired. It is for sale of course, as it only had 287 miles on it when we drove out the dealer's driveway.
Now it has 2000 and a few miles. We drove it to Jackson, Tennessee, and back last week to see my BIL and out SIL.
..... and This is the Old -- Guess which one we kept.
Of course we are keeping the Old, we don't buy New and haven't during our marriage of 44 years. The Old one has 106K miles on it, a 2011 Cadillac DTS. The power steering pump went out on it and also the front suspension had a problem that didn't keep us from driving. Supposedly it is all under warranty.
Update: It was all covered by warranty with the loaner car, a replacement power steering pump, a conduit system that is fancier than a hose and including the towing and a front end alignment. Plus a nice wash job.
(3) Self (portrait):

(3.a) A couple of Selfies of me taken in Spring 2014:
-- me, my hand, holding a half eaten brat and sauerkraut sandwich, purchased at London, UK's, Borough Market;
-- then me with camera taking this 'mirror shot', Mrs. Jim, and KP all eating "on the street" at a Vauxhall (London, UK) standup eatery--I had fish and chips, Mrs. Jim had the hamburger and FF's, and KP had chicken nuggets.
(3.b) A couple more older Selfies from 2014:
Not my driving license picture, this one was taken during an 'honor Veterans breakfast' at KP's school. No place like Texas!!
Older picture (a selfie) I wish was on my DL, I was much younger then.
Proof that I went to the DPS. I went to Huntsville, Texas, to get it done.
They are friendly down home, small town people, possibly with
a "large print" eye test chart. The wait there was only 20 minutes.
My new license was for seven years and expires October 30, 2022.
That license will only last for two years due to age discrimination (getting Old).
(3.c) Selfie shots appearing on my blog, including these shown:
