SkyWatch Friday (my twenty-nineth) -- For my friends up north -- Have you had your car read lately? #017
I just though you all might want to see what our Sky looks like around here. All of the moisture in these clouds is headed north where they are getting plenty. Al Gore, please hurry up there, they are needing you!
The top picture was taken from the St. Luke Tower across the street from the Houston Medical Center. My cardiologist,
Dr. Krajcer (link), has his office on the top, 27th floor. I go every six months for tests, this time it was a stress EKG, a Peripheral Vascular Test, and Lab (blood) tests.
I will get my results Monday. No major problems expected but I took myself off one of my cholesterol meds as my muscles were deteriorating and painful.
Midwesterners, rent one of these if you get to Barcelona (Spain)

These little cars for two were all over Barcelona. I don't know how the audio works. It could be GPS directed, 'key on the map numbers' or dial 1-900-555-5555.
Check em out if you go. I'd pick a day like we did, rain might be troubles. In more ways than one.
What Midwesterners do for fun
Looks like they are all watching the little fish swim near this Duluth (Minnesota) peer.
That is my sister, Lois, waving to us from the front white pad. (behind the guy with the red coat sitting in back of the people on the same white pad--if you were having trouble finding her)
Wait, that was a ship way out there! Oh yes, these ships come through to the port several times a day. Not quite like Houston where one or more comes every few minutes up our ship channel.Either way, both these activities are free so what the hey? Why not. Kids love it too!
NOTICE: You are not welcome in Houston and please do not come if you do not look us up while you are here!
Now back to the fish watching. The ships are gone for a while.

View from our back window -- Look, it's snow! -- Have you had your car read lately? #016

Snow is all over south and east Houston and areas on to the east and north. Some areas got up to four inches, most around two.
That's what it looked like when first looking out our back window. I heard "See the little white patch of white in the middle behind that house."
Then just a half minute later I heard, "Oh no, it's just the sand trap!" Boo, hiss, our snow didn't stick around last night, it melted as it hit the ground. Houston gets snow about every ten years, this is early as our last was in 2004.

Okay, I was out there anyway. If you super size this you might see a couple of snow flakes on my coat or hat that hadn't melted as the camera snapped. Thank you Gail for taking this excellent picture.

I was dressed like this for my "position" as a traffic control person for the Bentwater (our community) Christmas Home Tour. My job was to help people park and to keep them parking on just one side of the street. The second night we had better weather for all concerned, workers and home viewers, although it was getting cold, down into the upper thirties.

When I took the dogs out this morning things were flying to the south overhead. One group after another, like a Texas meteor shower! The birds were coming south finally.

A little closer shot never hurts anything.
My Pony's [1998 Ford Mustang GT convertible] back in the stable. I had been having air conditioner problems with it.

After all it is eleven years old now (with 77,500 miles on it already!) so every now and then it demands some special attention. Just like Adi and Katrin do.
Our cypress tree in the front yard looks a little bare this morning after all the wind. Wonder where all the needles are?
Look up, not down!.
Our cypress is loosing its needles for the winter. Thank goodness for live oak and holly trees that stay green all year.

I should even get a chance to try out the Mustang A/C and then put the top down again.

I thought too, I'd skip right over the Ides of March on the 15th. On this date in 44 BC, Julius Caesar was assassinated. That day always scares me. Why, I don't know.

[large picture] [super size]There was only one with four leaves. You will have to find it, I did not pick it. Isn't picking four-leaf clovers bad luck? Later in Scotland I was able to find another four-leafed one.

This weather is confusing our ornamental pear trees -- Global warming effects here?

The leaves are turning reddish and falling now. This generally happens around Thanksgiving, towards the end of November. The tips are normal for late February or early March, they are setting on buds.

A close up view of what is happening. The poor tree doesn't know whether to hibernate or rejuvenate.
We live in the Gulf Coast Texas area, just north of Houston.

Speaking of fooling mother nature, today Kate in Pretoria, Indiana, wants to know why she shouldn't have a Tiger for a pet. Or a wild rabbit?

Winter views from my Texas back porch -- midwest snow
Take a close look here. Before you move on a golf course lot, read the fine print in the club rules. "Golfers are responsible for all windows they break." When we came home from church, one of the back windows looked like this. Do you thing anybody left a note or notified the pro shop? Of course ____.
Saturday morning after a nighttime storm with a couple of inches of rain.
Sunday morning, not a cloud in the sky!
Monday morning with frost on the golf course. Temps got down to 26, the lowest of the year so far.
Nebraska on a snowy morning. Temps were not cold this day, they were in the upper 20's.

Jim W. did the driving in his car today. I am out of practice getting through the falling snow. We had to stop two times to clear the windshield wipers.
Up the street from the Blair (Nebraska) MacDonald's on a snowy morning. We would end up with about six inches before the snow stopped coming down.
