I love my wife — Six Word Saturday —

Or will it? ~~ First of all, these pictures were taken at a gourmet dinner that was held at our home last. Mrs. Jim cooked the entrée while three other ladies prepared the rest of the meal.
Pictured below from left to right is what we had: carrot soup with ginger; a romaine lettuce salad (no picture); pork chops with butternut squash and apple stuffing with a mild dirty rice (Mrs. Jim's presentation); and berry, apple, and pistachio combo pie garnished with pistachio nuts and whip cream.
Next time I go to the hardware store I will buy some 'blue traps' for that creature and his friends. After I catch him and any of his friends living there I will tell her about the open door that I have been worrying about.

Thursday Memes -- Things in a row -- Two Questions

At church the other day I looked over while
I doubt the the mother(?) or lady with them arranged this. Rather I suppose they stood beside their closest friend and it worked out this way.
Notice I said while "they" were singing. I do not sing in church, or at least not much or very often. I used to sing in the choir and in a special men's chorus when I lived in El Paso.
Then when we moved to New Hampshire the choir director there asked for an audition. My results were, "I'd rather not have you sing in my choir." He went on to say that I had a bad ear. I think I do. One voice instructor told me that most bad ears can be trained to be good. I haven't pursued this and probably won't.

Through the years this has helped considerably in our marriage but now since I put the results and findings on my blog Mrs. Jim has become a real trouper. She has always been a fine 'pioneer woman' in her own right.
My Questions:
1. Does the man in your house give the woman a performance rating?
2. Regardless if do or don't, what is your opinion of doing this?
3. Do you really think this would happen?
LOL 
Bonus Question: If you gave your children or grandchildren performance reviews would you establish their allowance commensurate with their rating results?

The couple came to the pastor for marriage counseling. They wanted a divorce.
After the pastor figured out they were 93 years old he asked if they were sure.
Yes, they were sure. They had been waiting a long time for this.
The pastor asked why, since they had been married 70 years they would want this.
We were waiting for our kids to die. The news would have been too hard on them.

Ruby (Red) Tuesday -- A new picture
This is the new picture. Mrs. Jim bought it at a boutique held at our church. Adi, the model dog, is here so you can get the perspective. Measurements are 36 inches by 52 inches.
Now, where do we put this nice picture that Mrs. Jim brought home?
That was to be my job to sit it on the fireplace mantel just to see. Mrs. Jim had to help me, the picture IS large.
How do you like it here? We would have to paint or surface over the mirror presently glued to the wall behind it.
Mr. Jim and I think it might should go where this tapestry is hanging now. Something a little taller might be nice in that spot over the doorway to Mrs. Jim's study.
We both like the tapestry, our builders wife and our friend helped us find it. Oagga knows how to shop for prices as well. She also paints. Oagga was with Mrs. Jim at the church shopping and ladies luncheon and approved of this picture.

Then we would move the tapestry over here, above the China cabinet. I can do that, I have an 18 foot ladder. I hung it before, per instructions from Mrs. Jim.
But we will need someone to hang the picture. It is too heavy and bulky to be up on a ladder with me.
Before we do this, Mrs. Jim isn't sure she wants to keep the frame as is. She might (have it done) cut it down to four to six inches wide or get a different frame.

This old desk was the first antique we acquired after we were married, 37 years ago. We debated about the $15 price tag and finally decided it would be worth it.
The desk no longer had its original finish but had been painted this red. It was a little brighter back then but it dulled considerably since the flood of 1979. It was completely submerged with about three feet of water, as were three cars and a motorcycle and most of our other worldly goods.
For a while it held flowering potted plants on our patio. That was really nice for it, I'm sure it felt it had a new life.
For a while we sat things on it but now due to space limitations it sits under this other older table. We do have two other student desks with original finish, carvings, etc. One is in good shape, the other needs some glue here and there.
I suppose it will sit for a few more years, then hit the trash. That is usually what happens to old things, sooner or later.
Of course, since we have an open back porch on our retirement home it could hold a plant back there again. It hasn't for nine years, will things change?

Forty-five years of marriage!
I didn't ask that question, instead I asked Velma what her favorite Bible verse was.
Her answer to that one? She and Royce put their heads together and came up with this one. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." ***
Did this apply to their happy marriage also? Yes indeed, they are an excellent witness to the Christian life including their marriage.
You see, they and their marriage are blessed by the love of Christ! Being married to each other for forty-five years was for them to live the love of Christ towards each other.
They are also blessed with three loving children and their spouses and five loving grandchildrean! God has indeed blessed this couple.

The Jim Bunch eats again! A nice Texas meal at the neighborhood Heritage House Restaurant
[large picture] [super sized] . We were going for brunch at our clubhouse. But the someone here at Bentwater (link) had reserved it all day. His granddaughter was getting married. We knew the other eating place at the yacht club was closed as it was on the Internet, but not this one also.
We did want to eat a little special, as it was my sister and her husband's 50th wedding anniversary.

.So we did the next best thing, we drove over to Montgomery to the Heritage House Restaurant (review link). It wasn't open till eleven, and then not for breakfast.
We did a little antique shopping and touring in Montgomery and then came back to this sumptuous meal.
Lois (sister), Jim W. (bro-in-law), and I had chicken fried steak. Mrs. Jim opted for fried catfish. What you see in this picture we got for $6.95 a plate. It included the salad bar, entree, and two vegatables. We all had some excellent cooked in the kitchen green beans. Some had mashed potatoes, Mrs. Jim had the very best, the corn fritters, and I had French fries since corn is now off my food plan.
It was all very good; we didn't have room for any of the kitchen made deserts. Mrs. Jim brought at least half of hers and most of the cole slaw home in a doggie box and the two of us had a ready prepared supper.
Thank you Mrs. Jim, for sharing your food with me. Adi did get a few bits of the catfish breading. She likes corn bread so much and we didn't want to disappoint her.
