Letter "Z" ~~ Friday's Weekend Roundup 10 / Reflections and-or Street/Candid Captures

Starts with the Letter "Z": Zebra starts with the letter "Z" as the first letter. We saw these in South Africa at a game preserve southeast of Cape Town. (Note: this picture was also my "Z" word for June, 2020. I just wanted to show them off again here.)
A word that has a "Z": For sure the word ZigZag, it has two "Z's". See a ZigZag Fence below.
Looks like "Z": Roger, our Colorado host, asked me to take a picture of his 'worm fence.' Worm fence posts are not anchored in the ground. Instead, the design of the fence with it zigzag pattern holds itself up. Also, there are no nails or bolts used. Drilling into the rocky soil for fence posts can be done but it is really hard on the equipment. And because the rocks must be dodged, the fence won't be straight anyway.
A Favorite : Too bad I didn't find his dog's picture for the letter "X" week, it has "X's" pictures of the porch railing support all over.
James' request, "Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures": Sleeping Dog and Sleeping Girl, on the Gatwick Express Train from London to the Gatwick Airport. These two small travelers needed a nap..

My first Car, the 1950 Studebaker Starlight coupe

[I have quite a few cast iron 1:18 scale toy cars, this one included.]
A word with "X": "Texaco gasoline pump", old fashioned pump gas measured by what's in the glass jar on top, and my 1950 Studebaker Starlight Coupe. Be watching as there are a couple of other words with the letter "X" here today.

My Choice: This one is a repeat of one from last week's blog. My readers may have missed this posting, on it I had a lot of the lake pictures out the south windows of the Library. It is sooo Relaxing, I've spent time, but not sharing with the Art Work fellow here, on the other benches while Mrs. Jim was attending her Book Club meeting.

- James' request, "Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures: I took this on our supposedly Daily Walk. There is a reflection, but the wind was so breezy that the disturbed water was not in the mood for reflections. The brownish cluster spot just beyond the duck's head was a reflection of the second tree cluster from the left.
Mrs. Jim was away with her bridge group on this their playday, so I walked by myself. I noticed that the smaller, younger ducks were gone. I think someone must have captured them for cooking. They would come to a person if that person had some food for ducks.
A Favorite: Isn't she an excellent Beauty, the truck, that is. Of course all the ladies featured on my Calendars she being very nicely kept.
"I will always like the 1949 Ford Pickup., it is one of my favorite old trucks. One like this is what I drove to high school in town for my last two years (the first two years I did not attend a town school, but rather a 10-grade two room country school to which I rode my horse, Minnie).

Letter "U" -- Friday's Weekend Roundup 10 / Reflections and-or Street/Candid Captures

Starts with "U": "U" will be for Umbrella today. Last year there were three, these two shortened type but I lost my black one, left it on a bus in London,, and now I use the one on the right.
It was Mrs. Jim's, but it became tricky to open so we got her a new one like the tricky one. Now I use the older one instead of buying a new one.
Her newer one has identification stickers, one is on the handle's end, you see the white glob on the end.
A Favorite: I hope you won't accuse me of being vane by posting a photo of myself. But it is my favorite. We, Mrs. Jim and I, were on the Sydney, Australia, ferry that goes around to the other side of Sidney peninsula. The bridge takes one over
to an Island (??) to the north.
James' request, Reflections: Don't say a muddy puddle won't give off a Reflection. I was at the back of our library and noticed this mother duck herding her eleven baby ducklings over for a swim. According to our newspaper this was the first time to come to Texas after a four-year hiatus.

Why do I use broken crayons to write
Colors in small pieces I've lost their names
Their wrappers are gone they're no longer proud

Letter "S" --- Friday's Weekend Roundup 10 / Reflections and-or Street/Candid Captures

Starts with "S": Letter "S" starts for She Shed. This was Cousin Mary's a few years before she replaced it. Above is Mary's potting and garden Shed. She spent a lot of time here doing things to keep the yard so pretty. In addition to the flower beds you see she also grew few rows of vegetables.
We all had a nice visit. Of course with Southern hospitality we had plenty to eat. I had a nice ham sandwich and chips. Mrs. Jim had brought a Key lime pie and she very nicely divided it into eight pieces. Mary's sister, Nellie and husband had brought some citrus fruit from the Florida orchards, so we all had a tangerine.
Mary died in December, 2020, a couple of years since she bought her new She Shed. (Her obituary, URL) We attended her funeral and visited with her family, probably for the last time. A Favorite:
These Segways aren't for sale, you can rent them.
You are seeing my first ride on

Roger, Luke, and Mrs. Jim stood in the shade
while we tried the Segways out.
Tom's suggestion, "Silence": This Segway machine is very quiet, one could sneak up on a person, it transports its rider in total Silence. They rented them in Telluride, Colorado, and I was next for a test ride. Neither of us rented.
Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures: Adi appreciated the yard as a nice place for her walk but I don't think she really appreciated the rain as much as we did. Rain had been very scarce that year.
Check her out in the second picture as she patiently waited for me to finish taking She Shed and other back yard pictures. Adi died at age 15 after a good life of being our friendly pet Beagle dog. We also were a Pet Animal Therapy Pair. Read more here, Adi's Meme. _ _ _ _

Starts with "R": "Rhyme" starts with "R". This Comic, "RHYMES WITH ORANGE", is one of the ones I have on my 'Read Daily' list, the others are: FAMILY CIRCUS; ZIGGY; PEANUTS; F-MINUS, ARGYLE SWEATER, MOTHER GOOSE AND GRIMM, HAGAR THE HORRIBLE; BEETLY BAILEY; B.C.; and BLONDIE. Some days I also read BIZARRO; none is top on the list unless it's BEETLE BAILEY because I have pity on his life as I was in the U.S. Army for five years.
The Army did however merit a job, me a college dropout, with Ford Aerospace Engineer using my Army 43-week schooling in their NIKE Missile Fire Control Systems Maintenance School. There I was third in my class of 47 students. I used that job for 19 years, ending as a Senior Aerospace Engineer at the NASA Houston Johnson Space Center; that was until I changed careers to be a College Business Professor.
A Favorite: Recipes would be my favorite today. I have them scattered on my various blogs, both in use and mostly dormant now. These links will get a few of my favorites,

Being a "mid-term bachelor", i.e. single, for three years, I developed as many shortcuts as I could to save my precious time between work, sometimes 50 or 60 hours a week, during astronaut time in space, and other. (I worked in the "Mission Control Center" at the NASA Houston facility.)
You may run into a Recipe for Jim's Easy Stuffed Bell Peppers when you are viewing the others. I made that yesterday for a noon lunch, they turned out really good. There are some pictures I took too, for when I put that on 'again'.
A Lagniappe: So I developed a "Quick and Easy" method of cooking. One example is my microwave cooked egg. James thought that sounded good. Here is my recipe for "Egg and cheese sandwiches":

These are the Last two pieces of my egg and cheese sandwich.
I cook the egg in the microwave in a sprayed dish of bread slice size (if it's a lot smaller, you can slice the cooked egg through the middle and make thinner pieces to fit the bread). Cook the egg for 66 seconds at 60 percent power.
Stir the egg a bit before until the yolk and the whites are in close proximity throughout. (If you just wish to eat an egg fast cooked, don't stir, leave the yolk be in the middle and cook for 56 seconds.)
Cover either way while cooking as it may "pop" one time, or more.
Use one slice of toasted bread for open face, two for a regular sandwich.
When finished cooking lay a slice of American cheese on top while still hot in the dish.
Remove it and lay it down on the cheese (I use one slice of American cheese) on the prepared toast.
Then, or earlier, prepare the bottom slice with low fat mayo, the top with a couple of restaurant packs of catsup. Slice into two pieces.
Voilà !! A wonderful sandwich in less than 10 minutes preparation, even for two. You could embellish with a slice or two ham, chicken, or even a sausage patty. They are good on a biscuit if you have some.

Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures: I thought I'd share some of our walk pictures with you. Over three miles. Both Mrs. Jim's and my doctor's orders, not known to each other, are to walk a half hour and to do those five days a week.
Guess we doubled up this time because this walk took well over the doc's half hour. That might be a bit far for some of you but we are getting in practice 'in case' we go more traveling this summer.
All this and more walking trails are within a three-mile radius our home.Not only our hearts got warmed but our entire body.
