Starts with "A":  In my latest AARP magazine is featured Ringo Star.  Can you guess his age now?  Please highlight the blank area below to see the answer. 

Ringo Star is 83 years old.

"A"round:  The Axle is Round on this Round wooden wagon wheel.  Seen at Central Park, NYC, New York.  (to read more about Central Park, click here)

 


Reflections and/or Street/Candid Captures:  The moon is shingling brightly in its Reflection in the pool.  Shining through the slat fence is the neighbor's bright Christmas lighting.  I took this a few nights ago but I have a similar and much better photo here, as shown to the right.

Letteer "N" --- Friday's Weekend Roundup 11 and Reflections and/or Street/Candid Captures

This Week's Prompts:  Starts with "N." A Favorite. "N"ecessary. Reflections and Street/Candid Captures.

Starts with "N":  New York City starts with "N".  We enjoyed our visit back in 2008.  We've been there a few other times, once we took our younger daughter back when she was in the fifth grade. 


A Favorite:   We liked the New York's "Hello Deli"; it was David Letterman's Favorite restaurant.  And it was just around the corner from the Ed Sullivan Theater where his program was broadcast.



"N"ecessary:  Taxicab's were Necessary in NYC.  Of course most all here walk a lot, a lot of places we want are often far apart.  And of course parking down town is very expensive and the taxis, busses, and the subway are very reasonably priced.  Many families do not have a car, not needed.  

Oh, yes.  We didn't find our what the NYPD was parked here for.



Lagniape #1: Cathy Lee was being interviewed out here in NBC's patio.



Lagniape #2:   Nice horses were pulling the carriages through NYC's Central Park.

Reflections and Street/Candid Captures: 
   
Our long and winding walk on New Year's Day (five years after New Year of the part above) New Zealand, down the hill (we paid for a ride up) took us through the Wellington Botanical Gardens.  The flowers were in bloom (their January 1 in the Southern Hemisphere is like our July 1 here) and all was cared for very well. This family seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Restaurant closing — MidWeek Blues — Tavern on the Green

NOW I HAVE NO REASON TO GO TO NEW YORK CITY

THE TAVERN ON THE GREEN IS CLOSING

Why would anyone want to leave Texas anyway? We have the best chicken fried steak and fried catfish in the world right here in Montgomery. Come visit and we will go to this little cafe, the Heritage House! The shrimp equals or betters that was eaten at the Tavern on the Green too.

The main thing the Tavern on the Green had going for it was its location, right in Central Park. That location will help be a factor in it's appraisal at $19,000,000!
BTW, I've only eaten there once, with Karen when she ran the 2003 NYC Marathon.

Carnage revisited

Today U.S. is remembering the 7th anniversary of terror attacks (2,751 NYC deaths).
Today our Houston area is preparing for Hurricane Ike (remembering at least 1,956 deaths in 2005 from Katrina and Rita).

We're back!

This is New York City from the air as seen through a foggy plane window. We returned Monday from spending a very nice week touristing in Ireland. Karen and Billy went with us.

There weren't any plane connections (on Continental Airlines) back to Houston Monday evening so we had to spend the the night in NYC.

This we knew before leaving home and had made reservations, etc. for our stay. We all enjoyed the sight seeing Tuesday morning.
